00:00Red Sox and the Astros, two high-scoring games in the first two games of the set.
00:08Yesterday, a little bit more lower scoring. Boston wins it 4-1, spoiling
00:13the return of Justin Verlander, who is back on the bump for the Stros for the
00:17first time since June 9th. We'll talk about Verlander in just a moment, but the
00:22Red Sox trying to keep pace with the Royals in the American League wild-card
00:26chase. KC shutting out the Angels yesterday, winning 3-0, but Boston a
00:31victory to take the set against Houston. Boy, you took it all hands on deck, Ben.
00:35Seven pitchers were used for Boston, only giving up one run against the Houston
00:40Astros, and Criswell was that big component. He was saying, like, I don't know how he's
00:43gonna perform. Four and two-thirds innings pitch, one earned run, 80 pitches. You'll
00:47take that every time on the road against a contender like the Houston Astros.
00:50That's a nice win for the Boston Red Sox. More importantly, as we said, getting to
00:54Verlander. Five innings pitch, two earned runs, probably on a pitch count, right
00:57around that 75 number. He ends up with 76 pitches, so even though Houston lost
01:02that game, I think you're looking at that for myself, saying Verlander coming back
01:06and being healthy and looking effective, that's much, much bigger than them just
01:10winning a single game here in the month of August.
