00:00If you want to kill your heart, continue to be alone and do private haram all the time.
00:08This is how you will surely kill your heart, kill your personality, kill your mental state and your health.
00:15You know my brothers and sisters, if I were to ask you one question,
00:19what do you think affects the heart the most?
00:23What do you think affects our heart the most out of all the things that we do?
00:28Where is the moment where the heart is the most honest?
00:33In pain? No. Or can I say the reality of a person?
00:39When is the time?
00:42Yes, when they're alone by himself.
00:45When you are alone by yourself.
00:48That, if you want to know yourself, the level of your iman, who you are,
00:54what pathway you're taking, where your stance will be on the Day of Judgment,
01:00what kind of a person you really are right now,
01:04then measure yourself when you are alone.
01:07Measure yourself when you have this in your hand, your phone.
01:12That's when you know who you really are.
01:14A person who fears Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
01:19is the type of person that you should be hanging around with.
01:23He is the man you should marry.
01:25She is the woman you should marry.
01:28But of course they fear Allah truly.
01:30And you try to find out as much as you can.
01:33Ask about them and so on.
01:35But the point is, we're not here to talk about how to find that person.
01:38We're talking about making that the goal.
01:41Because a man and a woman who fear Allah will not be bothered
01:46if they are being watched in public
01:50or whether they are alone in private.
01:55They will fear Allah in public and in private.
01:59But we all sin.
02:01We're all weak.
02:03And when we are alone in private, we do get weak.
02:06And we sometimes slip and falter.
02:10If Adam alayhi salam and Hawwa faltered when they were in paradise,
02:14and Allah left them for a while, they faltered and slipped.
02:18We will slip also.
02:19But that's not what we are talking about here.
02:21Allah does not expect perfection from anybody.
02:24But it's those people who will only be righteous and good
02:28when they are being watched by others in order to put on a facade.
02:32And when they are alone, they can't wait for that moment to come
02:36in order to penetrate all the boundaries of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
02:41with no hesitation, no regret, no repentance.
02:47Like as if it's just a flowing river.
02:49In fact, some people, they look at it as very normal, natural thing
02:54to penetrate the boundaries, sin all you like, do all the haram
02:59if nobody is watching you.
03:01Some people go a further step.
03:04In order to make themselves feel better,
03:07if they feel the guilt of doing the wrong thing
03:10when they are alone not being watched,
03:13then they'll grab for themselves a bunch of people or a group
03:16or some kind of social network.
03:19And they say, I've got nothing to hide.
03:21And so they expose who they really are in secret
03:25because they can't bear to hold on to the guilt.
03:27What have you actually done here?
03:29You think you've done something good for yourself.
03:31But what you've actually done is now you've just topped the cake.
03:34You've accepted yourself in the true nature of an immoral person.
03:40Now it's in open.
03:42But the shaitan comes to you and says to you,
03:45at least you do it in front of people.
03:48But that's the shaitan playing tricks on you.
03:50He's sealed your fate.
03:52And that's probably why you've heard a lot and questioned
03:56why does Islam emphasize that we keep our sins secret, not exposed?
04:05It's not because you're a hypocrite.
04:07It's not because Allah wants you to continue in your sin and hide it.
04:14But first of all, people don't forgive your sins.
04:17They're not the people. People have no business.
04:20You don't turn to people.
04:21It's as if you're saying, I've got to confess who I really am to the public.
04:25Who is the public?
04:27Did the public create you?
04:29We're all here for the same test.
04:30I'm talking to Muslims here, of course.
04:32Non-Muslims who are listening may or may not understand what I'm saying.
04:35But obviously this is a lecture to Muslims.
04:37But non-Muslims can hear and try to learn and ask, inshallah.
04:41But for us as Muslims, we don't confess to the public.
04:45Who are they?
04:47The ones that we have to own up to is one.
04:50He is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
04:52Of course, if there is something that we're doing in secret that's going to harm others,
04:56then we better stop it or we better tell them before they are harmed.
05:00That's a different story, rights of people.
05:02We're talking about yourself.
05:03The boundaries which Allah has forbidden.
05:05So a person who fears Allah with their wife or their husband behind closed doors,
05:12they are still fearing of Allah.
05:16They give their spouses their rights.
05:18They will fix if they ruined.
05:21They will apologize if they have hurt.
05:24They will make up what they have done wrong.
05:28They will treat their children as a trust.
05:30They'll treat their spouse as a trust.
05:32They'll treat their parents as a trust.
05:34Such a person who knows that Allah is watching them in private just as much as in public
05:41has a lesser risk of faltering all the time.
05:44And if they feel guilty, they are less likely to continue for a very long time in what they're doing.
05:51And if they do, they will increase in good deeds.
05:55They will continue to ask Allah to forgive them even if they relapse.
06:00But they will never allow themselves to be comfortable with doing the wrong in private.
06:07If you wanna kill your heart, then allow the sins to be justified and let them enter your heart.
06:15Let them define you now.
06:17If you wanna kill your heart, continue to be alone and do private haram all the time.
06:25This is how you will surely kill your heart, kill your personality, kill your mental state and your health.
06:32And what a topic this is, hidden camera.
06:35If I told you that there was a hidden camera in your bedroom at night, all night.
06:43And it's connected to your parents' house and they can see you but you don't know.
06:50Or it's connected, if you're a man, to your wife's phone and she can see everything all night, all day.
06:57Or your husband's phone.
06:59Or your children.
07:01Or your workplace.
07:03Or the authorities.
07:06Imagine you were being watched and then you found out that there is a hidden camera.
07:13Wouldn't your actions change?
07:16I say this to our students when we're teaching at school.
07:20See, when you misbehave, imagine that camera in the corner.
07:24Imagine that's connected to your parents' house.
07:26Would you act the same way?
07:27They say, oh no, not my parents.
07:29Obviously we change our habits and behaviour when people are watching.
07:32And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala clearly tells us as Muslims that he is always watching.
07:39In secret and in open.
07:43Allah says,
08:14He knows all that enters the earth and all that comes forth from it.
08:18And all that comes down from the heaven and all that goes up to it.
08:22He is with you, wherever you are.
08:25Allah sees all that you do.
