Transcript
00:00How is he today?
00:02Yeah, I went up to see him yesterday.
00:05So, yeah, it's really disappointing.
00:10So, these things happen.
00:13I had a talk with the young players yesterday morning as well.
00:17So, it's rocked us a little bit.
00:19No, it's not rocked us a little bit.
00:20It's rocked us a lot.
00:22So, the mood's been pretty sombre around the place because we feel for him.
00:29Been involved with the first team this year.
00:31International.
00:34Got on the pitch at Norwich.
00:36Lovely lad.
00:37Great family he comes from.
00:40And one of a number of promising players that is starting to emerge from the academy.
00:46So, deeply disappointed about him.
00:50But he's in good hands.
00:53He had an operation on Thursday afternoon.
00:57Went up to see him yesterday afternoon, myself and Brian English, the club doctor.
01:02I've got to say, our doctors and staff have been absolutely outstanding.
01:07And, yeah, we've had to take that step back a little bit.
01:14Because, you know, for a young player to be on the end of the challenge
01:23and what happened afterwards is deeply disappointing for everybody at the club.
01:28And it's been felt by everybody.
01:33Has it got to the stage yet where the medics have said this is the timescale?
01:38Or is it perhaps still too soon?
01:40Yeah, it's too soon.
01:41But he had an option to either have it pinned or put a cage around it.
01:45So, he's at the cage.
01:47So, he can wait bare as well now.
01:50So, he's coming out of hospital tomorrow.
01:52As I said, we've got good people at the football club.
01:56Really good.
01:57And so, they've looked after him.
01:59And there's just a sense of care around and feeling around the football club.
02:05Which is, I've got to say, shows for me that this is a really caring football club.
02:10From the staff point of view, from the coaches, the medical guys.
02:14And the players, his teammates, whether it's in the first team or whether he was playing for the under-21s.
02:20So, he'll get plenty of support off the pitch.
02:24And it's going to be a slow, long recovery for him.
02:27Because of the nature of the injury.
02:29But we'll be here for him and be delighted when we see him back up here.
02:33And getting back to what he's been doing best.
02:36Which is being a really talented young footballer.
02:39Because I would imagine the mental side of things for him.
02:42His day-to-day was mapped out.
02:44He was playing football and now he's not for however long.
02:47That's going to be quite something to deal with.
02:49Yeah, physically he's got to overcome a lot of hurdles to get back to where he was.
02:54And from a mentality point of view.
02:56But he's a strong boy, he's a strong character.
02:58He's a tough boy as well.
03:00So, there's no doubts.
03:03He needs a little bit of luck along the way to get him back to where he was.
03:07But we'll be delighted when he gets back.
03:09But he possesses all the characteristics for us to know.
03:15That he can get back to where he is.
03:18And obviously the support that he'll get will be there for him and his family.
03:25Just to go back on that Andy as well.
03:27Just to add a couple of things.
03:29I've received a call from Matt Hobbs.
03:31From the Sporting Director at Wolverhampton Wonders as well.
03:34So, I appreciate that.
03:35So, let's all get off social media as well.
03:37Because there's two sides to it as well.
03:40So, I appreciate the call I got from Wolves.
03:43And I thank them for that as well.
