Chris Wilder on Tom Davies injury boost after Sheffield United frustration
Transcript
00:00Just on Tom Davies, you've touched on him there, being back in the 21s.
00:03There's been a lot talked about him, his potential, his pedigree and all that.
00:07But how nice is it for him just to get some grass under his feet after a long time?
00:10Yes, I think he's gone past the potential stage, but definitely pedigree.
00:16He came to play in the Premier League.
00:17He came as a Premier League player.
00:20You know, his background, he's not played in the Premier League.
00:24He has been a Premier League player.
00:26So, I've always said this right the way through,
00:29and it's something that really annoys me.
00:32Professional footballers, having been one, do not want to be injured.
00:36From a mentality point of view, from a physical point of view.
00:41They want to be involved on the grass on a Monday to Friday.
00:44They want to go and play.
00:46They come to play.
00:47We want to have a career as a professional footballer to play.
00:53We don't want to be injured.
00:54These are the things we have to deal with.
00:58And there's obvious ones in our group for the last three or four years.
01:05And it's madness.
01:07And it's a real lack of respect to these boys as human beings,
01:13more importantly, that they want to sit on the sideline and pick the money up.
01:17They don't.
01:18They want to be out there.
01:19They want to be involved.
01:21They want to progress their career.
01:22And Tom came to play football, and he hasn't played football.
01:26And we'll be absolutely delighted when he's back in contention
01:29and pushing and being part of a group.
01:32And his experience will be invaluable to us.
