00:00Good evening from Bern where Villa made pretty much the perfect start to their Champions League campaign.
00:07A 3-0 win over Young Boys and it could have been more.
00:12Two goals controversially chalked off by VAR.
00:17The first one, Oli Watkins, apparently for a phantom handball.
00:22The second one for a handball that took place about 30 seconds before the goal was actually scored.
00:27But that wasn't really the talking point. It was a super win for Villa and a fitting tribute to Gary Shaw the day after his death at the age of 63.
00:37Unai Emery dedicated the win to Shaw and his family and said he wants Villa to follow in the footsteps of Shaw and those heroes from 1982.
00:47And fittingly, Uri Tillemans, the current number 8, that was a number that Shaw obviously wore on his back, opened the scoring after 27 minutes.
00:56And then the current Brummie hero in the team, Jacob Ramsey, doubled the advantage after a chaotic bit of defending slapstick really from the home team.
01:06Watkins then saw his effort ruled out. Again, it probably shouldn't have been.
01:12That would have killed the match in the first half at 3-0. But to be honest, Villa never looked in any trouble after that.
01:19And Amadou Anana, after John Duran had seen a goal ruled out for handball, Amadou Anana slammed one in from 25 yards.
01:27I mean, he's got three goals now in five games. He only scored four for Everton in two years.
01:34So he's turned into something of a goal machine. And that was another positive for Villa.
01:39Good performances all round the team really, but Tillemans in particular has been across the first five games the player of this early season.
01:48And he was the standout. Morgan Rodgers, very good again. Everything but the finish. And Ramsey, again impressive.
01:56And yeah, I mean, it was a tricky game this. Young boys have had some decent results against English teams.
02:03Obviously artificial pitch. It took Villa a while to get into it. But once they had, there was only going to be one winner.
02:09And it was a really good night for them and their supporters.
