00:00Believe it or not, Pokémon is not the only popular video game that irate fans have accused
00:05Power World of cloning in some form or another.
00:07But taking notes from the best in the biz isn't always a bad thing, as the massive success
00:12of Power World seems to prove.
00:14Wow!
00:15Metal Greymon and Metal Mameymon!
00:19Lest we forget, the Digimon franchise has been accused of copying Pokémon on more than
00:23one occasion.
00:24Ever since its debut, the franchise has been widely seen as an attempt to ride the wave
00:29of popularity enjoyed by the Pokémon series, even if that's not entirely true.
00:34However, the two media franchises have definitely managed to stand on their own thanks to differing
00:39aesthetics and gameplay, and modern gamers have mostly come around to accepting Digimon
00:45as its own unique thing.
00:46Now, some fans argue that Power World has more in common with Digimon than with Pokémon.
00:51As many have noted, Digimon was also the original franchise to be seen as Pokémon with guns,
00:56a moniker which Power World now proudly bears.
00:59To that end, some gamers have compared some of the tougher-looking, heat-packing POW designs
01:04to pre-existing Digimon.
01:05The Digimon franchise also tends to have higher stakes for its titular characters, which can
01:10die if they don't evolve in time, and even the human characters aren't safe.
01:14The initial setup of Power World in which the main character wakes up with seemingly
01:18no idea how they arrived in this new world may feel a bit familiar to Digimon fans.
01:23As the series has returned to that storytelling device a few times over the years, Power World
01:28may not directly live from Digimon — much like Digimon wasn't really a Pokémon rip-off
01:32— but the ironic parallels are certainly getting the attention of fans.
01:36In fact, some enterprising Digimon diehards are already seizing the moment by modding
01:41their fave digital monsters into the PC version of Power World.
01:45The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and its direct sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, are
01:50two of the most celebrated open-world video games of all time.
01:53So why not crib from the very best?
01:56That's what some Zelda fans think Power World is up to, with one of the similarities arriving
02:00at the very beginning of the game.
02:02One of the first things a player character does upon awakening on the beach is to pick
02:06up a nearby tablet.
02:07This is the POW Deck, the game's answer to a Pokédex.
02:11Its design and functions are also reminiscent of the Sheikah Slate and Pura Pad devices
02:16from the aforementioned Zelda games.
02:18Much like those two items, the POW Deck updates every time players find a new location in
02:22POW World.
02:23Accompanying these updates are Chirons that appear on the screen to inform the player
02:27of this new place's name.
02:29Some fans have noted that these titles also look quite like the ones that appear when
02:33a new area is discovered in newer Zelda entries.
02:36Speaking of getting to new areas, some gamers on social media feel like some of the traversal
02:41mechanics, biomes, and menu screens in POW World feel like something out of Breath of
02:46the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom.
02:48The game's gliding mechanics have also been compared to both the Zelda series and Fortnite,
02:53depending on which franchise you played more.
02:55Of course, gliding has become a pretty widespread mechanic in modern gaming, but the character
02:59animations and physics really seem to remind gamers of the two aforementioned series.
03:05As one Redditor quipped, POW World is less like Pokémon with guns and more like Elden
03:09Ring with pals.
03:10There's still a lot we don't know about the realm in which POW World takes place, but
03:14it looks like its ancient architects might have had similar tastes to those in the world
03:18of Elden Ring.
03:19Players have discovered ruins of what appear to be old churches, which look quite similar
03:23to the Fallen Temples from Elden Ring, especially the ruins in the Church of Morica, as well
03:28as dimensional portals similar to that game's Evergales.
03:31In both POW World and Elden Ring, these glowing circles transport players to another area
03:36to face a tremendously powerful enemy.
03:38In fact, a few sections of the map in POW World look so much like Elden Ring that some
03:43have taken to viewing Pocket Pair's game as a loving tribute to FromSoftware's action
03:48RPG.
03:49As many gamers have pointed out, Elden Ring and other FromSoftware games have also drawn
03:56heavy inspiration from Kentaro Miura's Berserk manga, so it's not like everything in those
04:01games was totally brand new.
04:03POW World just carries on the tradition of paying tribute to the fantastic stories that
04:07came before it.
