00:00The Office of the President, Presidential Communications Office, and Department of Migrant Workers joined the budget hearing of the Camera the next day.
00:09The congressmen supported the addition of funds for the so-called agencies for the next year.
00:16Mela Lesmora has the details.
00:20The House Committee on Appropriations quickly approved the allocation of funds for the Office of the President for the next year.
00:30The hearing lasted for just 15 minutes under the guise of Inter-Parliamentary Courtesy.
00:36For 2025, the Office of the President is asking for more than P10.5 billion.
00:43According to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, the funds will be allocated for various programs in Malacanang.
00:50This amount, if I may point out, is 1.88% lower than the budget of the Office of the President in FY 2024
01:01and represents a mere one-ninth of 1% of the proposed total national budget for FY 2025.
01:12Nonetheless, we believe that the proposed amount will be sufficient and adequate for the President
01:20to meet the exacting demands of being the head of state and of government.
01:26Malacanang thanked the congressmen for their support.
01:30Officials of the Presidential Communications Office also attended the budget hearing
01:35led by its new leader, Secretary Cesar Chavez.
01:39Officials of the Attached Agencies and GOCCs also attended the budget hearing
01:45led by PTV Network General Manager Toby Nebrida, just like your national television.
01:52Communication Secretary Chavez laid the groundwork for the government's information dissemination.
02:00The PCO is not just talking, writing, and producing digital content.
02:04The PCO is now helping to organize events so that people, especially those knowledgeable experts,
02:11can have that platform to speak.
02:13The agency is also continuing its campaign against fake news.
02:17This is important because of the upcoming election.
02:21For 2025, the PCO and its Attached Agencies' budget proposal is more than 2 billion pesos.
02:28In the case of PTV, GM Nebrida assured that the networks are already set up
02:34so that the audience reach of the network can expand.
02:38Part of the parameters for improving the programming mix, Your Honor,
02:43includes targeting demographics that are not exactly being covered by our current audience share.
02:54The other one is creating content that is both informative, educational, and inspirational for our publics,
03:08always with the end in view of being more viable in so far as creating revenue streams
03:16for all these new programming and new channels.
03:21And then, of course, hopefully we are also able to get off the ground our reorganization plan.
03:28The official of the Department of Migrant Workers also joined the budget hearing of the camera.
03:33Secretary Hans Leo Kakdak is present to defend their proposed budget for next year.
03:40Cabayan Party List Representative Ron Salo also expressed his support
03:45and requested a budget hike for the government.
03:48Melalas Moras for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
