00:07Raja Petra, popularly known as RPK, was 74 years old.
00:12His death was confirmed by his brother, Raja Idris, this morning.
00:16In a brief text to FMT, he said Raja Petra passed away at 11.26pm UK time on September
00:229 in Manchester.
00:24Raja Petra was born on September 27, 1950.
00:29He ran the Malaysia Today website which published commentaries and articles on Malaysian politics
00:35which were often controversial.
00:37Raja Petra was held under the then-Internal Security Act in 2001 and 2008.
00:44He received his early education at Alice Smith School and then continued his studies at the
00:49Malay College, Kuala Kangsa, before completing his education at Victoria Institution in Kuala
00:54Lumpur.
00:55Raja Petra married Marina Lee Abdullah on April 14, 1973.
01:00They have five children and two grandchildren.
01:03He had been residing in Manchester for a number of years.
