00:00Muda needs to move past founder Syed Sadiq Syed Abdul Rahman's shadow to ensure its survival.
00:08This is what University of Tasmania's James Chin had to say, adding that the upcoming polls must
00:14see an infusion of new blood capable of proving Muda's relevance in Malaysian politics.
00:21He said many still view Syed Sadiq as a political frog for former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir
00:27which could hurt the party. On November 9th last year, Syed Sadiq was sentenced by the High Court
00:33to five years in prison and two strokes of the rotan for criminal breach of trust and dishonest
00:39misappropriation of property when he was with Bersatu. Meanwhile, Academy of Sciences Malaysia
00:45fellow Jayum Jawan expressed pessimism about Muda's chances in the coming general elections,
00:52saying there are no other young figures apart from Syed Sadiq capable of reviving the party's
00:57fortunes. He said the party is made of unknown young people with some passion, adding that while
01:03they might be educated, they lack the wisdom needed in politics. Jayum said Muda may not
01:10survive with Syed Sadiq distancing himself from the party as he fights his conviction.
