00:00Ronnie Belling, they've taken a lot of receivers, man.
00:02And we'll see about him.
00:04Let's go to Nate in Virginia.
00:05Nate, what's happening?
00:05Good morning, Nate. You're on the roast.
00:07What's up? What's up, guys?
00:09I just want to get a quick quick opinion on what's the odds
00:13that you think Lynch will come back and say, hey, obviously, BA,
00:17you want to go somewhere to win.
00:19You want money.
00:20Can we meet at like twenty nine?
00:23Because at this point, he's the best wide receiver on our team.
00:26I mean, I love Debo, but he's a gadget guy, right?
00:28He's not he don't run the route tree.
00:30Ricky Purcell, we don't know yet. Right.
00:33And I don't trust his organization and first round draft it early or late.
00:39Yeah. What else you got, Nate?
00:41You want you want to keep BA?
00:43You want to keep BA, right?
00:44I want to keep it. We need to.
00:46I mean, other than the Amari Cooper deal, it doesn't make sense.
00:51Yeah. I mean, Amari Cooper fits the system.
00:54He doesn't fit the system exactly, but he's a good wide receiver.
00:57You know what I mean?
00:58And we look at the rest of wide receiver depth chart.
01:01Like I said, Debo, he's a wide back, right?
01:04He's a gadget player. He's special.
01:06He does different things. He's hard to replay.
01:08But he doesn't run the route tree. Right.
01:11Well, the money things I do, we
01:15let me ask you real quick before you move on, Shaski.
01:18I keep hearing BA wants this and BA wants that.
01:21Do we know for sure what he wants?
01:23We don't even know exactly what New England offered
01:25because I saw some reports saying twenty eight and a half.
01:28Yeah. And I saw other reports that said thirty two and a half. Right.
01:31It's a big difference.
01:32And the Niners in reports are the Niners haven't engaged in talks
01:35since May with Brendan. I don't know what's what.
01:38That's what I don't know.
01:39So here's here's the question that I have, like without knowing the money,
01:44I read an article about the Eagles with Jalen Hurts and Sirianni.
01:47And apparently they couldn't stand being or Jalen Hurts
01:51couldn't stand being in the room with him.
01:52And they were questioning his X's and O's.
01:54Whole nother conversation.
01:56We'd love to have that about the Eagles moving forward.
01:59I think Belichick is going to be there.
02:00That's a hot take. Put it in the.
02:01Can you put that just put that off to the side?
02:04Belichick will be the Eagles coach in a year. But.
02:08I think we underrate that you have to be in these meeting rooms
02:12and you spend so much time with all of these players, and I'm just
02:16I'm asking out loud, can everyone kiss and make up?
02:20Can we all find a way to be in rooms together
02:24and to study and to practice and to play together and work together
02:28and look each other in the eye?
02:30I, I would like to think everyone can be professional,
02:34but there are times where people feel like their feelings are hurt.
02:38I do wonder if it's salvageable.
02:39And that's something I want to ask her about, which when he comes on,
02:42can they repair this relationship?
02:45Can they get on the same page and make this work?
02:48Because I do think that Brandon, I mean, you're in a dynamic offense.
02:52And look, Pittsburgh may have something cooking down the line here,
02:54but we don't know.
02:55Aren't the Smiths going to run the same kind of the same system?
02:58Not the same system as Shanahan,
02:59but they're going to run the ball a lot with Najee Harris and Jalen Warren.
03:02And then, you know, you have George Pickens there who wants his targets.
03:05You have Darnell Washington, a backup tight end from Georgia.
03:08He's going to want to get in the mix.
03:10Friar Muth is a damn good tight end.
03:12He's going to get some targets.
03:14Do you mean you're going to be in a similar system
03:17to where you're not going to be getting 15 targets a game or 12 targets a game?
03:20You're not going to be treated like Justin Jefferson.
03:22And, you know, I'm hearing a lot about, you know, Amarase Brown, right?
03:26He's like the heart and soul of the Detroit Lions.
03:28But they also you know what their identity is?
03:31We're going to play smash mouth football.
03:32We want to be as 50-50 as possible.
03:34So we're going to use David Montgomery and Jameer Kibbs.
03:36We're going to run the ball behind this offensive line.
03:38Detroit's a very, very physical team.
03:41And what got them that 24-7 lead was they were averaging
03:45seven yards to carry against the 49ers running the football.
03:47So Amarase Brown will get the targets in the pass game.
03:50But at some point, J-Bo Williams is going to want targets.
03:53You still have Samuel Porter there.
03:55So I look, man, I feel like this is the best situation for B.A.
04:00The for the 49ers.
04:02This is the best receiver you drafted in many, many years outside of Debo Samuel.
04:06Let's make this work.
04:07We don't want to lose B.A.
04:09and then move it forward.
04:10Who's going to be Brock Purdy's number one target?
04:12Like I envision a right receiver room with Ricky Pearsall
04:15and Brandon Ayuk moving forward alongside Jawan Jennings.
04:19Like why? Let's make this work.
04:21This guy's a good player.
04:22This is a good team.
04:24Is it Pirog Barate who's got his fingerprints all over this?
04:27Like Kawakami said it.
04:28And now it's got me thinking, damn, is Pirog Barate driving the line here?
04:32Is he drawing the line?
04:33Say no, this is what it is.
04:35I don't like that.
04:36I don't like it, Shaski.
04:37And this is why I keep coming back to Kyle Shanahan, because when
04:40there was stalemates in previous negotiations, Bosa
04:44and the Trent Williams situation, Kyle Shanahan interjected.
04:48And Kyle Shanahan went to the front office
04:51from reports and said, get this done.
04:54So I wonder, like, is he a get this done?
04:57Because I think that's telling to be like if Kyle Shanahan thinks that they can
05:02like if he thinks the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
05:05That's interesting to me.
05:07Now we have a different conversation, right?
05:09Because if Kyle Shanahan, the architect of this offense,
05:12thinks that he can move on right now from from Brandon Ayuk.
05:16Wow, that's that's telling.
05:18Yeah, that's a lot of confidence in a lot of things.
05:21And Brock Purdy has a lot of confidence in himself and his play calling.
05:25It's a lot of confidence in Ricky Pearsall.
05:26Yes, it's a lot of confidence in John Jennings and Chris Conley and maybe
05:29Jacob Cowan, so maybe Trent Taylor.
05:31So you are listening to a 95-70 game.
05:33We get the legal in KGMG, FMN, HG1, San Francisco and IC Sports Station.
05:37Always live on the free out of Seattle.
05:39The fact that Shanahan appears to be annoyed because Ayuk is on the field,
05:44but he's not practicing.
05:45Again, we brought this down.
05:47He basically said, yeah, Bosa shouldn't get on the field.
05:50I understand the situation.
05:51Well, what don't you understand about the Brandon Ayuk situation?
05:56It's like they're not the same player.
05:58We're not comparing Bosa and Ayuk.
06:00We're not comparing Ayuk to Debo Samuel, but the situations are similar.
06:04So now you draw the line on Brandon Ayuk.
06:06Oh, he ain't practicing with us.
06:07Forget this guy.
06:09Bosa was in Florida.
06:10Well, I don't think he I don't think it's the specifics of
06:13he's not practicing with us.
06:15I think it's just the totality of everything that's going on
06:18behind the scenes, the timeline.
06:19Like I just I think it's everything.
06:21And I think he's probably feeling like, you know, we kind of mishandled this.
06:26Yeah, I mean, he won't come out and say it.
06:28No one's going to come out and say, yeah, we've been botching this.
06:31You don't do that in the middle of it.
06:33This is what I wonder with this situation now that's happened.
06:36Maybe we we did this yesterday a little bit, but I'm curious.
06:39The 49er fans, as we get ready for camp and this situation is overshadowed,
06:43who's playing well at camp?
06:45Fred Warner's had a good camp.
06:46Juwan Jennings had a good charge out.
06:48Deve Jones Adams had a good camp.
06:50Devo Samuels had a good camp.
06:53But how many 49er fans don't want to salvage this relationship?
06:58How many 49er fans are just out on Brandon Ayuk all the way?
07:01So I had three softball games last night and a variety.
07:05And I played first base in the last one.
07:07And a variety of people would get to first base and they'd say,
07:10what the hell is going on with Brandon?
07:12I don't know.
07:13Why can't he just come in and play?
07:15I don't know.
07:16Was he going to stay or is he going to go?
07:17I don't know.
07:18Well, I'm over him then.
07:20I'm just like, wow.
07:21Like a lot of over him.
07:22Yeah, they're over him.
07:23But but but I think most people I'm over him.
07:26But if he wants to come and play for us, I'll take him in a heartbeat.
07:28Yeah, like that's the fan setting, you know, like I'm over him.
07:32But if he stays with us, then I'll be rooting for him week one.
07:34So how many fans feel like that?
07:36Eight, eight, eight, nine, five, seven, nine, five, seven, zero.
07:38Are you over Brandon Ayuk?
07:40Do you just want to move on from him to resolve this situation,
07:43or do you want to do everything in your power to try to bring this guy back
07:47and keep him as a member of the 49ers?
07:50Because he does help give this offense the best chance to thrive.
07:53It's a lot of pressure to put out everybody else.
07:55We talk about the rock running and a one on ones and everything like that.
07:59What's going on here?
08:01How are you feeling, 49er fans, as we get ready for week one of the preseason game?
08:04And by the way, I would not play Brock Purdy at all in preseason
08:08if big Trent Williams is not in camp.
08:10If Trent Williams is not there and Trent doesn't play preseason anyway,
08:14I'm not playing Brock Purdy in the spring.
08:15And I know it sounds crazy.
08:17Last year when he was coming off the elbow injury, it made sense to play him.
08:20They played him for that one drive.
08:21Remember, they went down the field and scored right away
08:24when the field was super dry and sandy and there was the third game.
08:27I don't even remember the preseason.
08:29I do. Yeah, well, they did like a Debo, a couple of sweet Debo plays
08:32and everybody looked good.
08:33I know Buffalo's playing Josh Allen this week in the quarter.
08:37Caleb Williams is playing for the Bears.
08:39Andy Reid's playing this guy's for the first quarter.
08:41He believes in playing.
08:41Andy Reid always does. He always does.
08:43He plays. He believes in that stuff.
08:45So here's the question that I'm curious if you have an answer on.
08:50What if I told you Kyle Shanahan would tell me and you,
08:54you know, who's the number one option?
08:56And he says this.
08:57Well, in my offense, the open man.
09:00Yeah, he would say that.
09:02I believe that's what he thinks.
09:03Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
09:04Like, yeah, he's like a faceless avatar on this play
09:08when they run this defense, this guy's going to be open.
09:10This guy runs the route the way he's supposed to.
09:12And we block it up.
09:13Right. And the quarterback like, right, times it out.
09:17The faceless X, you know, avatar is the guy who's the number one.
09:21That's why I don't get caught up in.
09:22Well, this guy's the number four option.
09:23This guy's well, Debo, if Brendan Ike's number one, if say hypothetically,
09:28Brendan Ike is the number four option because I'm with you.
09:31I don't think Shanahan thinks like that.
09:32I think Shanahan just thinks my play is going to work.
09:35This guy's going to be open.
09:36But if he is the fourth option,
09:39he led the team of receptions and receiving guards.
09:42Is it the first time in NFL history a quote unquote number four option
09:47led the team of receiving guards and catches?
09:50That's just that's insane to me. No, that is insane to me.
09:53So and I think about some of the big plays.
09:55It's some like the Washington Commanders game.
09:57Brock Purdy's rolling around.
09:58He throws it across the field.
09:59Who's he hit? Brendan Ike.
10:01The Seattle game.
10:02Thanksgiving, where all of us made Kyle Shanahan throw his headset.
10:04Oh, I didn't want you to throw it there.
10:06That's not the read.
10:07Who did he throw it to?
10:08Brendan Ike, when it was time to break over the Teva Bay Buccaneers game
10:12deep down the field.
10:13Who did he throw it to?
10:14Brendan Ike, third down in an NCAA championship.
10:16Keith, third down in the red zone.
10:18We got to score, man.
10:19We got to get a touchdown now.
10:20We're going to lose this game.
10:21We're going to lose a lose out of the chance to go to Las Vegas.
10:23Who do you find?
10:25Brendan Ike.
10:26But this is also the same family that when everyone valued
10:29running backs at a certain value, they said, no, they're replaceable.
10:33So could Kyle be starting a trend in his own mind?
10:38Again, I'm not ripping him.
10:39I'm like elevating him here where it's like everyone in the league
10:43is overvaluing wide receivers.
10:44And we actually think they're more replaceable than you think.
10:47Not that they're not important.
10:48We just drafted one in the first round.
10:50But that I can get comparable production out of a variety of guys
10:55where everyone else is investing 30 to 60 million dollars
10:58in one to two players at the wide receiver position.
11:01I actually am viewing it the way we viewed running backs 10 years ago,
11:05which is no, they're more replaceable than you think.
11:08And I can get comparable production.
11:09I'm just asking out loud.
11:10Well, it's funny because the Chicago game and we're going to break here.
11:13But the Chicago game, when they lost it with Trey Lance and Elijah Mitchell got hurt
11:17and remember, I came back and I said, I think we need a running back.
11:20I think we need a home run hitting running back the hell with platooning
11:23running backs to Jeff Wilson, Junior's and Tevin Coleman's, the Elijah Mitchell's,
11:27all these guys.
11:28And you finally got a home run hitting quarterback.
11:30And look, you have averaged 30 points a game since you got that home run
11:33hitting quarterback and running back.
11:35So don't undervalue.
11:36Don't try to say, hey, everybody's replaceable because obviously they're not.
11:40You need home run hitters at these positions.
11:42All right. More coming up here on the road.
11:43Dave Fleming coming up on the other side.
11:45We'll talk some Giants here, some Giants.
11:47They get a big win last night in the nation's capital.
11:49Then we'll jump right back into Brandon.
11:50Now you can afford.
