00:00300 metric tons of molasses were found floating in Sagay Feeder Port in Negros Occidental.

00:09The possible effect of this on the environment was reported by Aileen Pedrezo of GMA Regional TV.

00:19The water around Sagay Feeder Port in Negros Occidental is turning black.

00:23According to the Philippine Coast Guard,

00:25the people of Pantalan noticed the blackening of the water around Mt. Mary, Queen of Charity,

00:31this morning and yesterday,

00:32as molasses was being loaded from the truck to the ship.

00:37300 metric tons of molasses was found floating in the sea.

00:41The PCG and water sampling were used in containment and recovery operations.

00:46It was found in the volume of the molasses that was being loaded.

00:52It was organic, not chemical.

00:57The whole container was diluted.

01:00It was not contaminated by the liquid.

01:04In the initial assessment of the PCG,

01:07it was a human error because based on the inspection,

01:10there was no indication that the barge had a hole or a dam.

01:13The PCG spoke to the captain of the barge and he resigned from the marine protest.

01:18We are still trying to get a statement from the owner of the barge.

01:22Our pollution certificates and safety documents are all updated.

01:27It's a compliant vessel.

01:29The Coast Guard is also contacting the local government of Sagay.

01:33Earlier this morning,

01:34the Sagay Marine Reservation and PCG conducted an inspection again.

01:39It was found that there was no damage to marine life.

01:42According to the Sagay Marine Reservation,

01:44molasses can only be found in fish and other marine life

01:47if it is concentrated when it falls into the water.
