The typical office employee has an energy slump at 2:12pm, according to a study.
A poll, of 1,000 workers, found productivity takes a massive dip in the afternoon for 65 per cent.
And top reasons why include having been sitting in one place - at the desk - all day (35 per cent) and finding the working day generally too long (29 per cent).
A hefty lunch (23 per cent), bad sleep the night before (27 per cent) and working especially hard during the preceding hours (19 per cent) also have an impact.
Lack of exercise (18 per cent) and caffeine (14 per cent) were further reasons for a dip in productivity.
While many resort to a host of methods to escape their lull including getting away from their desk (45 per cent), stretching (27 per cent) and listening to music (23 per cent).
The research was commissioned by Emmi CAFFÈ LATTE, which has teamed up with Mr Motivator, to help get workers out of their energy dip - and turn their day into a winning one.
Clad in his recognisable bright Lycra, the 71-year-old - real name Derrick Evans - led workers at Manchester’s Media City through 15 minutes of movement to music.
Mr Motivator said: “We start the day with the best of intentions, but sitting behind a desk all day can be a real challenge.
“It's super important to get moving whenever we can –-big or small, every bit counts. It'll boost your health, your mood, and most importantly, your motivation.
“Office workers, you're my perfect crowd for a pick-me-up, especially after lunch when that energy dip hits hardest.
“So, get up from that desk, shake it out with some easy stretches or a brisk walk outside in the fresh air – you’ll feel fantastic during and afterwards!”
The research also found other methods for escaping the afternoon slump were listening to motivational podcasts (10 per cent), having a caffeinated drink (32 per cent) and even taking a power nap (13 per cent).
Almost two thirds (63 per cent) of those polled, via OnePoll.com, agreed the afternoon slump is definitely a real thing.
As many as 34 per cent tend to save any work they haven’t finished by the time of their lull until the following day – proving how productivity is impacted.
