00:00A quiet street in Perth South suddenly ruled a crime scene, with local residents still
00:07coming to terms with what they witnessed outside their front doors.
00:11Before we know it, it's coming over right in front of the driveway where we were standing,
00:15so unfortunately my girlfriend had to run out the way otherwise to avoid getting hit,
00:21so it was pretty scary at the time.
00:24Police allege a man and woman believed to be known to each other had an altercation
00:28inside a vehicle on Amherst Street on Saturday afternoon.
00:32Witnesses say the woman fell out of the car before allegedly being run down.
00:36It's a bit sad because the little kids saw it over here and a few of the neighbours saw
00:40it get hit and I think it just shook the kids a little bit.
00:46It's believed the driver continued down the street before hitting the letterbox of this
00:49couple's home.
00:51We heard it, the car went flying, there was a lady on the road two houses up and the car
00:58went flying and hit just here.
01:01But their damaged property was the least of their concern.
01:04I just hope the woman's OK, I don't care about the material things.
01:09Domestic violence is horrible and we need to sort it out.
01:12A sentiment echoed by other neighbours.
01:15I think what this incident should teach everyone is that violence against women knows no postcode,
01:24it knows no age bracket, it is happening to women everywhere.
01:28The woman, aged in her mid-twenties, was rushed to hospital with serious abdominal injuries.
01:33She remains in a stable condition.
01:35We don't want this behaviour in our community, no one does, and it is harmful when behaviours
01:39like this are seen in such young people.
01:42The 25-year-old man is facing a total of nine charges.
