00:00Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, whatever time you're watching, I'm just glad that you are.
00:04It's a beautiful day in West Bromwich, I'm Lauren Hill, you're the amazing readers,
00:08and today we're going to be talking to people about the best staycation places to go in the West Midlands,
00:15in West Bromwich, all the surrounding areas, because West Midlands was voted the best place
00:21for a staycation in the whole country, based on attractions, based on affordability of hotels,
00:28so we're going to speak to some people and see what they think. Let's go.
00:32So the West Midlands has been rated the best place to stay for a holiday because it was ranked on
00:38affordability of hotels and the number of attractions like zoos, water parks, things like that.
00:45So for you folks, I know you've just come back from beautiful Wales, but what are some things
00:50that you like to do in the West Midlands? Apart from shopping. Yeah, I mean you could be a
00:56shopaholic and enjoy a bit of shopping, yeah? We go to Birmingham sometimes, don't we? And
01:01have a look around the shops around there. We'll say you've got the Living Museum in, yeah?
01:07The Living Museum. That's one of the attractions that was actually listed, yeah? Yes. And we've
01:11got Alton Towers, things like that, if you know. Dudley Zoo. Dudley Zoo, that's another one of
01:16them. You're on fire today, yeah? Brilliant, yeah? And I mean, what, I mean... We've got some
01:20beautiful parks up here, like Dartmouth Park in Sandwell Valley. Yeah. If you want a nice walk,
01:26you know, it's a beautiful city. You've got Cannock Chase and things like that. That's beautiful. And
01:30I'm guessing, do you guys enjoy, you know, when you're on your holiday, I'm guessing from Wales,
01:35you know, you can go for lovely nature walks. Nice places where you feel relaxed and peaceful.
01:39Walk along the beach. Yeah, walk along the beach. That's beautiful, yeah? But I mean,
01:44were you a bit surprised to find out that statistic about...? Very surprised.
01:48Surprised? I get why they say that, because they like the way the economy is, the way
01:55things are at the moment. So obviously, folks are looking for like B&Bs and things like that,
02:00a lot more economical, basically. Exactly. And this is a place to come for it, apparently.
02:06So, the West Midlands, you might be surprised to know, has been rated the best place to come for
02:12a British holiday, because it's cheapest hotels, the most attractions like zoos, parks, things
02:19like that. Yeah, yeah. Are you surprised by that? I'm very surprised. Why? I've been here nearly,
02:25how long? 1959. Wow. I didn't consider Midlands as a holiday thing. You always try and go the
02:32other way out, don't you? You're not coming back in. Scotland. Where do you like going?
02:35Yeah, Scotland, Wales. Yeah, sometimes Wales. Yeah? But we like Scotland more. You like to
02:41go to Scotland, yeah? And so, but when you are here on a nice sunny day, what do you like to do
02:48yourselves? What we're doing now? Sit in the sun together. Yeah, yeah. Do you like the parks around
02:55here? Yes, I do love the parks. You like the nature? Yeah, yeah. The peace and the tranquility?
03:00That's right, yeah. Yeah, lovely. The West Midlands, you might be surprised to hear this,
03:03but it's been rated the best place, the number one place to come to in England,
03:08for a staycation. What do you think about that? Depends where. Yeah. I mean, I'd say around here,
03:14not really, but say like Birmingham. Yeah. There's like Alton Towers. It's basically based off the
03:22amount of attractions we've got here. Yeah. Would you rather go somewhere else? I'd rather go to
03:28Spain or something. Yeah, somewhere, yeah. It depends, because it's probably going to be cheaper
03:31here than what it's going to be abroad. That's exactly why it's been rated the number one,
03:36because it's cheaper hotels. Especially the cost of living crisis as well. There you go. Yeah,
03:40there you go. And it's got actually the most attractions like zoos, water parks, everything
03:44like that in the whole country. So where do you, I mean, if you are staying in the West Midlands,
03:49where do you like to go? What do you like to do on your days off and your weekends?
03:52I mean, weather experience. Oh, yeah. I love a weather experience. Normally, I do like theme
03:57parks myself, but it depends. In term time, it's a bit rizzy, but I normally just like
04:03going for walks and stuff like that. Yeah. And I think people coming to England maybe on a holiday,
04:09a weather experience is a staple of the UK, really, isn't it? You can go and have a pint
04:12there and some food for literally less than £10. Then you can go to Dudley Zoo. Exactly,
04:16or like, where else is there? Yeah, Dudley Zoo. Stafford Park, like... Birmingham. Sorry,
04:21Victoria Park. Birmingham for some shopping. Parkways, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So where do you
04:24like to go usually? Birmingham. Yeah, Birmingham for some shopping. Yeah. Yeah, brilliant.
04:29So there we are, folks. A lot of people, as you can see, do love staying in the West Midlands
04:34because of all the attractions we've got, the zoos, the parks, especially for a little walk
04:37in nature. Other people like to get out somewhere else, but if you like a nice affordable holiday
04:43with loads of things to do, especially if you're part of a family and there's loads
04:47of things to do for the kids, then get yourselves down to the West Midlands.
