00:00We're good to go, can you introduce yourselves?
00:13What are your names?
00:14Where are you from?
00:15I'm Emil, I live in London.
00:18And I'm Joe, and I also live in London.
00:21And what are you doing here today?
00:23We are supermodel.
00:24Nice.
00:25And if people don't know who you are, what can they expect from a supermodel show?
00:30They can sell the night.
00:33I think if you don't know, I mean we don't even really know what a supermodel show is
00:38because there's a lot of spontaneity that comes out of that show.
00:42It's a creative space where a lot of things can happen.
00:46So we kind of rehearsed a rough idea, but then that went out the window within two minutes
00:51and you just get full-blown madness for bearing up, so track by track, nice.
01:14And you were nominated for Best Song with a really amazing video, but neither of you
01:20were in it.
01:21What's the idea behind that?
01:23I just saw these pictures of this seance taking place a long time ago.
01:29Obviously there were doctors.
01:30And I thought it was really interesting, yeah, people really believing in the supernatural.
01:37And I mean, I think we do believe in the supernatural, so we wanted to create a seance to get that
01:46energy out.
01:47And I think it came out, didn't it?
01:48In the video.
01:49Yeah.
01:50Yeah.
01:51And I also think, you know, like we said, we love for ourselves, you know, the interesting
02:00thing about creating like a musical project is to kind of define the world and create
02:05the world.
02:06And I think it doesn't necessarily need to be hinged on what we look like or who we are.
02:11And you know, it's not a personality cult.
02:14It's like a, it's a, it's a world and a vibe and a feeling that met it, you know, though
02:19it'd be in it.
02:20You also chosen to be independent, if I'm right for this, like independently releasing
02:23the music.
02:24Yeah.
02:25I mean, that's just, you know, we've, we've had, we're really blessed to have careers
02:31as, as like commercial filmmakers outside of making music.
02:37So we're not, we don't have the pressure of needing labels to necessarily like, you
02:44know, yeah.
02:45And also like help us record music and, you know, we both can produce music, we can both
02:50play lots of instruments and so we can kind of do ourselves a lot.
02:56Yeah.
02:57Yeah.
02:58I think, I think that's a very nice thing.
03:00I think it's a, we're obviously, you know, we're both very creative people in a sense.
03:08And I think for us it's a, it's not a creative outlet, you know, like we can put a lot of
03:14things into it.
03:15Like, you know, the covers are Joe's photography or my paintings or, you know, I feel like
03:21we feel totally free in this and that's what makes it really good for us.
03:27Yeah.
03:28I think that's the nicest way a label would just be like, Oh, I'm not sure about that
03:31painting.
03:32Take that.
03:33You know, it's like, yeah.
03:34Yeah.
03:35Like just tape.
03:36You don't.
03:37Yeah.
03:38Yeah.
03:39Yeah.
03:40Can you maybe describe the event for people who haven't been, what can they expect from
03:49the BMVS?
03:50I mean, I, I think, I think that it's a, it's a most creatively unique sort of version of
04:00this festival I've ever seen where, you know, a lot of the time these things are really
04:05stale.
04:06They're very like stunted.
04:08And this is just super free and really fun.
04:11And there's a lot of different people and a lot of different types of work and a lot
04:15of people from all over the world.
04:18I think that's reflected in the style of film that gets sort of recognized here, which is
04:25maybe not what is recognized at other, these are video awards just because they're not,
04:31you know, it's not Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran and whatever.
04:34It's like, there's something a bit more like rootsy about it underground, but still like
04:38incredible quality than anything else.
04:40It's kind of the vibe of this, well, this thing, I think.
04:43Yeah.
04:44Yeah.
04:45Are we talking about the festival?
04:46Yeah.
04:47I think it's amazing.
04:49I just love the atmosphere and it just has this like really good sense of, yeah, just
04:59like freedom.
05:00It just feels, it's all about the videos.
05:03They screen them full length, it's, you know, you have really good sound and everybody's
05:10just watching and just really vibing to the videos.
05:13It's just amazing.
05:14I think it's amazing.
05:15You know, most of the time with a music video, you see it on your screen, you see it on YouTube
05:19and it's like, you know, you don't have the best sound, but this is like big picture and
05:26you just realize just how much creativity goes into them.
05:30It's amazing.
05:31I've seen like some incredible work here.
05:33So we're just so, we're so like grateful to be nominated or to be in this really.
05:41Yeah.
05:42That's good to hear.
05:43Awesome.
05:44Thank you very much.
