Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez's take on synthetic grass
Transcript
00:00Well the turf is nice and it feels like grass to be honest with you. I know it's not
00:04regular grass but the technology of this grass is made to feel like you're playing in regular grass
00:13and you probably can see and when you step on it feels very soft and it's the material that they
00:21have underneath of the surface and I think that's going to be, you know, we have to wait and see
00:30how the players feel. It's hard for me to say that it's good. I mean they're the ones that play but
00:38to me it looks soft to me. I walked the whole ballpark earlier and every step that I was
00:47walking the ballpark feels very soft but I think it's going to be a very good surface
00:52for the players to play. Well if I was playing right now I could play 50 more years I think
01:01but it's good. I think this is needed for the organization. I think it's
01:08going to be good for the players, good for the fans that they can come here at 1.05 or 1.35 game
01:17or 2.15 game and it's still going to be, you know, 70 degrees like right now and even though
01:23we play 7.05 I think that, you know, the great thing about this ballpark that as you can see
01:28it's beautiful and every game is going to be on time. It doesn't matter if it's a one o'clock,
01:33two o'clock, 7.05 it's going to be on time but I think the players, I think they're going to be
01:41more fresh playing through the years. 81 games especially July, August and September when it's
01:48really 108, 109 degrees outside they're still going to be playing at 70 degrees and I think
01:55it's going to be good for them. I think the most important thing for them is to stay healthy this
02:05year. Last year we went through a lot of injuries and part of those injuries because of the heat
02:12and this year, you know, we're going to play in good weather and they're going to play in great
02:16field, great facilities so I think I expect the Rangers to stay healthy and have a good year.
