Rangers starting pitcher Corey Kluber Addresses the Media at Peek At The Park
Transcript
00:00With the Rangers, are you starting to get accustomed to the idea of the move and
00:04everything?
00:05Yeah, I think so.
00:06I mean, I think I've had time to process being part of a new organization.
00:11And I think I'm excited about it.
00:12I'm looking forward to the new season starting.
00:16It's been a long time for me, personally, since I've been able to get out on the
00:20field. So I think that, along with just the normal excitement of spring training and
00:23stuff, I'm looking forward to it.
00:24How much of it is kind of almost a fresh start for you?
00:27I know you didn't want the time off you had last year, but
00:29now you're playing close to home.
00:31And what does that mean to be playing close to home?
00:33I think it'll be fun.
00:34You know, I think it'll be a lot of fun.
00:35I mean, I came out to the ballpark in Arlington numerous times when I was a kid.
00:40So I'll be playing right next door now.
00:42So it's pretty cool from a personal sense.
00:44But yeah, I mean, the time off last year was unfortunate.
00:46But I've just, I've kind of made myself look at it as, you know, it is what it is.
00:52I'm going to look at it as, you know, hopefully it's a good thing moving forward.
00:55It gave me some time to, you know, kind of regroup physically,
00:59address some issues that I had, you know, with my delivery and things.
01:02I've gotten a little bit out of whack, and I think I'm in a good spot now.
01:04So like I said, I'm looking at it as, it was unfortunate.
01:08It's not what I wanted to happen, but hopefully it's a blessing in disguise.
01:10How do you feel pleased with the play going on?
01:12You do have a unique perspective, having come out here as a fan and
01:15sitting, sat in the seats there, pitched on a mounder as an opponent.
01:21And now you're going to pitch in this, in a dug or retractable roof.
01:26How much of a difference is that going to make for pitchers?
01:30I don't know.
01:30I mean, I don't think anybody honestly knows until we get in there and play.
01:35You know, ultimately whether you're playing in a hitter's ballpark,
01:38pitcher's ballpark, it's the same for both teams.
01:40I mean, you still got to go out there, you got to try to get outs.
01:42You know, the good part of it is that we know that, you know,
01:46the game's going to start when the schedules start every night.
01:47You don't have to worry about delays or anything like that.
01:49So that part of it's nice.
01:51But like I said, you know, the ballpark doesn't,
01:54it doesn't factor into at least the way personally I approach it.
01:57You know, I feel like it's the same for both teams.
01:59And, you know, whether it's pretty or it's not, the idea is to win the ball game.
02:03The heat, you never felt like the heat was a thing that you dreamed?
02:09I mean, growing up, I just think you don't know any better.
02:12But, you know, coming back, I think that, you know,
02:14it's definitely different than a lot of places.
02:16But I was only here for three or four days at a time.
02:20I wasn't here for an entire summer to feel, you know, those kinds of feels.
