00:00 The sports world has been put to a halt because of the coronavirus, which means we're all
00:05 desperate for anything to watch.
00:07 I've been watching old replays of games.
00:09 I was watching the horse tournament on ESPN on Sunday, which was actually pretty entertaining
00:15 and especially cool to see what all of the NBA players and WNBA players, what their courts
00:21 look like at their houses.
00:22 It was pretty sweet.
00:24 But I, as I understand, Chris Hallock was telling me that Joey Gallo, the Texas Ranger,
00:29 is participating in MLB The Show Players League and he's winning.
00:34 So tell me more about that, Chris.
00:35 He's the only player right now that's 4-0.
00:37 So pretty much what Major League Baseball, the players and Sony Interactive are doing
00:42 is they're taking the popular video game MLB The Show and one player from every team is
00:48 representing their team in a 29 regular season game or league pretty much.
00:56 And then it's going into an 18 playoff and they're going to have a World Series.
00:59 It's just going to be a very short and abbreviated season simulated on a video game.
01:05 And Joey Gallo was a little modest when we talked to him on Friday about it.
01:10 He said, I don't know how I'm going to do.
01:12 I think I'm a middle of the pack player.
01:14 Hands up going 4-0 in his first slate of games.
01:17 So he's been pretty good so far and we'll see if he can continue that.
01:22 So when you were watching, what is some of his strengths?
01:24 I'm curious.
01:25 Like, I mean, I've never seen MLB The Show.
01:27 I've never played in full honesty.
01:30 So what's he good at?
01:31 Well, when we talked to him, he talked about the hitting a lot and even hitting with his
01:35 video game counterpart.
01:36 He hit multiple home runs against Tampa Bay's Blake Snell.
01:42 So he's definitely good at the hitting.
01:43 He outscored his opponents 30-6 in those four games.
01:48 So it was quite a bit.
01:50 But he's also good at the pitching because he threw two shutouts in those games as well.
01:55 So he's probably pretty good at both the pitching and the hitting.
01:59 We'll see how the next four games go.
02:02 He's supposed to be playing the next four on Tuesday night.
02:05 And so that'll be something to look forward to.
02:07 Well, at least we know that he's keeping his thumbs in shape during this little halt of
02:13 the sports world.
02:14 Yeah, absolutely.
02:15 It's great that these guys are doing it.
02:18 And plus, it's also a really good benefit.
02:21 Every team is donating $5,000 on behalf of their player to the Boys and Girls Club of
02:26 America in Canada.
02:27 And the winner of the World Series will also get an additional $25,000 donated as well.
02:32 So it's a really good cause.
02:34 And it's something to keep fans entertained while we just wait for baseball to come back,
02:38 whenever that is.
02:39 Well, Chris is on top of everything when it comes to the Rangers.
02:42 So make sure you check out his website, InsideTheRangers.com.
02:45 Bye-bye.
