SI's Chris Halicke and Bri Amaranthus discuss how Globe Life Field could be the catalyst for a Texas Rangers' postseason berth.

00:00 I'm Bria Marantis here with Chris Halleck and we're here at Globe Life Field which hasn't
00:05 opened to the public yet but I can tell you it is stunning and opening day is right around the
00:11 corner. It's super exciting time for the Texas Rangers. At this point you'll take any advantage
00:16 that you can get if you're playing MLB during, I don't know, coronavirus. So what would be the best
00:24 thing that you could say about Globe Life Field and maybe it being a positive for the Rangers,
00:29 an advantage? Well they're playing three weeks worth of workouts before the season starts so
00:34 this is something that no team has ever really had a chance to do and in 162 game season if a
00:40 team steals three or four wins based on home field advantage it's not that big of a deal but it's a
00:44 60 game season three or four wins difference between 30 wins and 34 wins or 28 wins and 32
00:49 wins that's a huge difference and I'm telling you if the Rangers are the kind of team where they can
00:54 be right around that playoff competition not quite there but if they you know they're getting the
01:00 chance to see how the ball flies with the roof closed with a roof open they're getting a chance
01:04 to see how the how the ball bounces on the surface and with everything like that this could be a
01:08 major advantage for the team that they could steal like I said maybe three or four wins out of it.
01:12 And it sounds like the surface here at Globe Life Field isn't very similar to most surfaces besides
01:17 Chase Field in Arizona so that's an advantage when you are one of the only teams who gets to play on
01:23 it on a regular basis. And even then Joey Gallo said that the turf in Chase Field is actually
01:29 mushier so it's actually harder on the players just because they want it to be a little more
01:34 firm because it's kind of hard on the body whenever they're sinking down into the ground so
01:38 if anything they're getting more like this field is getting more positive reviews than Chase Field
01:43 and so it's really really good so far absolutely. Wow.
