00:00 Can't have any bad weather in Sheffield without setting Alistair on the roof again for a weather
00:05 report. Hi everyone, it's Alistair from the Sheffield Star just coming to you with a weather
00:08 update for Monday, April 15th. As you've no doubt noticed there is a very heavy amount
00:13 of rain hitting Sheffield today. There is a yellow weather warning in place for wind
00:17 issued by the Met Office for the rest of the day in fact, up until about 10 o'clock this
00:20 evening. So what you're going to see today, as you've no doubt noticed this morning, it's
00:24 been non-stop rain. That will become a more scattered situation for the rest of the day
00:27 going forward. Weather maps show that it's going to be rain clouds moving in so that
00:31 the rain is on, off, on, off, on, off again all day long essentially. This will continue
00:37 until about 1pm, we're going to have a much heavier downpour. That will also just suddenly
00:42 switch off whenever it feels like it. Then we're going to see scattered showers again
00:45 until around the 7pm mark. Now, 7pm through 8pm is where the rain will have its last bout
00:52 until we see a dry and cloudy evening for the rest of the night essentially. The other
00:57 issue is, as I said, there is a yellow weather warning in place for wind though. We're expecting
01:01 winds of up to 47mph today at around the 3pm areas where it's going to be at the heaviest
01:06 I suppose. The Met Office says there's a chance of power being cut out, occasional disruptions
01:11 to transport. I think we can probably expect the Tinsley Viaduct to be closed before the
01:16 end of the day as well, that's not been said right now, that's my prediction. But whenever
01:19 there's high wind, parts of the Unbound do close and they have to use the detour instead.
01:24 Anyway, yellow weather warning in place for heavy wind for the end of the day, reaching
01:28 tops of about 47mph which will bring disruption across the city. We can expect some transport
01:34 delays, chance of power being cut off, maybe some loose branches coming down in the meantime.
01:39 This weather warning is in place until 10pm tonight, but expect scattered showers until
01:45 the end of the day, reaching its peak at around 1pm and maybe at around 7pm as well. I think
01:51 worst of it is behind us though we'll see what happens. Thank you very much.
