Heavy rain is expected throughout the morning on Thursday, particularly in eastern parts of England with a yellow warning issued. Strong winds will push this rain southwards later in the morning, allowing for a drier north. 00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Thursday morning where we do have some
00:04wet weather around and also a rain warning across eastern counties of England. Here's
00:09that rain warning here extending from border regions and that's south of the border right
00:14the way down towards Lincolnshire. We've seen some heavy rain overnight and the rain band has
00:19stalled across these parts through today, hence the reason why rainfall totals will continue to
00:24rise. So expect surface water issues, even some localised flooding. Yes, some horrible conditions
00:30outside this morning with those leaden skies. Now as we head through Thursday, the rain will
00:35slowly ease from these parts as it gradually pushes down towards more southern areas. And
00:40here's your rain warning from Thursday evening and into Friday, extending across much of central
00:47and southern parts of England and Wales. Now we've seen a lot of rain here through the last four or
00:52five days. This is not going to help the situation. The land is that saturated. We've seen river
00:57flooding, property flooding and there's more rain on its way. The rainfall totals won't be as high
01:03as they have been through the last few days, even so it is going to top up those river levels and
01:09as I said, there will be some impacts associated with this. So this is the rain warning which goes
01:14till 10am on Friday and then slowly the air becomes colder from the north. This cold stream
01:21of air will bring some showers before a ridge extends from the southwest. We hang on to some
01:27cold air, particularly by night, so expect even a touch of frost but all change yet again through
01:33Sunday and into Monday as that high gradually drifts away and we see low pressure coming in from
01:38the Atlantic. So if you are stepping out first thing on Thursday morning, some clear skies, even
01:44a touch of frost across northern parts of Scotland, that cold wind with a few showers. Now let's just
01:49pause it here. You can see where that rain is, particularly covering the northeast of England
01:54as well as the North York Moors and Pennine districts. It extends towards the Isle of Man
01:59as well as Northern Ireland through the first part of the day, particularly towards the east there.
02:04So a little bit of showery rain up towards the central belt of Scotland. Now towards the south
02:10of the rain band we're seeing some heavy showers. They've been moving in overnight. The risk of some
02:16quite intense downpours, they'll be fairly sporadic. Also the chance of thunder associated
02:21with any really heavy downpours through the morning into the afternoon. And then this rain band here
02:28with those strong winds pushes slowly southwards. So we'll see an improvement in the weather across
02:34much of Scotland, even Northern Ireland through the afternoon. However, notice this rain just then
02:39pushes down towards Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, eventually Derbyshire, the far north of Wales.
02:46Showers elsewhere will develop inland through the afternoon. They're likely to be heavy again
02:50with thunder as this rain becomes persistent and reinvigorates as it slides down towards the
02:56Midlands through the latter part of today. So here's your warning zone through the afternoon
03:02and here are your temperatures, 11 or 12 with that cold wind in the north. Around 18 if you
03:07catch any sunshine towards the south in between around 14 Celsius. So tricky driving conditions
03:12if you are out and about through this evening during rush hour. A strong wind, outbreaks of
03:18rain and some gusty showers towards the south. These showers streaming in on a cold wind into
03:23the early hours of Friday morning as well. Here temperatures again struggling the low single
03:29figures and a touch of frost can't be ruled out in sheltered glens. For Northern Ireland a few
03:34showers particularly along the coast but some brighter weather to start the day as we head into
03:38Friday morning. And here's that rain band which will be pretty persistent through the first part
03:44of the day. Again sinking southwards as we head into Friday morning and some heavy showers still
03:50lurking across Channel Coast. Again they'll be quite intense with the risk of thunder but notice
03:55through Friday eventually this very wet weather does clear towards the low countries and then
04:01we're all bathed in this cold air from the north and also some showers. But inland certainly an
04:07improvement with some sunshine. A snapshot for Saturday morning. The chance of some pockets of
04:13grass frost if not air frost in shelter towards the north. Showers lurking around more particularly
04:19along the coast but even inland and that wind will be cold. In between though notice some sunshine
04:25and as you saw earlier a ridge of high pressure is extending from the Atlantic. So things tend
04:30to dampen down and what that means we lose the intensity of those showers and we gain some drier
04:36as well as brighter weather. So that means an improving picture through the day. A few fleeting
04:42showers towards the west as well as the northwest. Cloud comes and goes across Scotland but inland
04:48we'll see some sunny skies and after the chance of a very cold night into Sunday morning certainly
04:53than what we have seen across the country we'll see some sunshine yet again with a few showers
