Leeds United: Play-Off chasing Hull visit Elland Road
Transcript
00:00 Very much so, and then of course it's a quick turnaround, Easter weekend always is when it comes to football.
00:05 Easter Monday, back at home, Ellen wrote Hull City who of course are right in the play-off mix.
00:12 So that's not any easier again, but this time you're at home, you've had the weekend to get adjusted.
00:17 Obviously if Leeds go away to Watford and get away in there, Tales will be up.
00:21 There could be some more factors going in their favour, but it's certainly in terms of position still a very tricky encounter.
00:28 Yeah, definitely. Just look at Hull's recent run, seven games unbeaten in a row.
00:34 Obviously four of those have been draws and they have been the last four, but the one at Southampton 2-1,
00:38 they got a 2-2 draw with Leicester City. So the results are there in black and white to show you what they're capable of.
00:43 I don't think people even need the results to know that.
00:46 I think just a lot of people are very, very respectful of them and think they're a good side.
00:50 They've really started to turn the corner of late.
00:52 I think a lot of people even quietly fancy them to go up realistically.
00:57 I think they're the sort of team that a lot of people could see sneaking into the playoffs and then just getting it done.
01:03 Obviously that would mean yet another one of the big four missing out as such.
01:06 But yeah, that's another very, very hard... It's a hard weekend.
01:08 Both those games, Watford away and Hull at home as well.
01:12 As you say, they are very much in the mix for the playoffs.
01:15 We're obviously speaking here before the game on the Friday games, but as we speak,
01:19 they're just outside the playoffs with the game in hand, so sort of in their own hands and stuff in terms of their destiny.
01:25 Got some good players, obviously Fabio Carvalho, one that Leeds looks at and stuff.
01:28 And Jadon Filagin as well, Louis Coyle ex-Leeds.
01:31 There's all sorts of elements in there.
01:32 They've got a very good young manager in Liam Resenier.
01:35 I think that'll be a very, very tough game.
01:36 Obviously, cast your mind back to September, I think it was, when Leeds got the 0-0 draw there.
01:42 Joe Roden sent off for a second yellow card.
01:44 But it's still a game that Leeds probably could and should have won.
01:46 But Hull, very, very good side.
01:48 There's no doubt about that.
01:50 Again, that'll be a very, very tough game.
01:53 Friday's big in terms of, obviously, everybody playing the same day,
01:58 Leicester away from home and Ipswich away.
01:59 But Monday looks huge.
02:00 Obviously, Leicester v Norwich at 12.30.
02:02 The huge game, obviously, on Monday is Ipswich v Southampton at 5.30.
02:05 I mean, obviously, that's two of the big four.
02:07 So one of those two is going to drop points, obviously, and then Leeds v Hull at 8pm.
02:11 So, yeah, it's a huge day, a very, very hard game.
02:16 But obviously, you probably finish off here by saying the biggest thing in Leeds' favour is not just their quality on the pitch,
02:22 but their home record.
02:23 I mean, it's been absolutely phenomenal.
02:25 I mean, they are very much looking at the prospect of going unbeaten at Ellen Road throughout the whole season,
02:30 which would be phenomenal and potentially one of the best teams in the Championship ever at home.
02:34 I mean, it's amazing the record they've got.
02:36 And really, I mean, you look at the four games left, Hull, Sunderland, Blackburn and Southampton,
02:41 I mean, you respect all those four, but Southampton on the last game needs no introduction.
02:46 But other than that, you could well say this is the next hardest test Hull at home
02:50 because they're going to be going for the playoffs, there's no doubt about that.
02:52 And a very, very difficult game.
02:54 And again, like you say, I mean, yeah, they'll have had the Friday game and then Saturday and Sunday is two days.
02:58 But then obviously, you've got to travel back from Watford.
03:00 You've got to, like, obviously have your downtime, you've got to have your recovery.
03:02 So again, there won't be much training for Hull for this one either.
03:05 So lots of factors in it that make it very, very difficult.
03:08 And, you know, let's just hope we get another wide swin, but it'll be a tough game, Daniel, I think.
03:12 There's no doubt about that.
03:13 I think you're right, Lee, but that does conclude our Leeds chat.
