A peaceful protest was held outside a consultation for a huge proposed residential development in Albrighton. Residents say it will massively effect the village due to the scale of it.

00:10 by Barningdale Homes to build up to 800 homes on our Greenbelt. We've formed the Albrighton
00:19 Village Action Group as a voice of Albrighton and we are opposed to this proposal for the
00:28 main reason being it's in the Greenbelt which is a protected area. It is a huge disproportionate
00:33 proposal outside of our Shropshire Local Plan for allocated housing which we've already
00:38 met. We've got a development at the moment that has around 300 houses, we've got another
00:44 200 odd houses to be developed over the next five years so it's unnecessary in Albrighton.
00:53 The proposal has a plan for secondary school, supermarkets, drop and ride, all of these
01:02 things are pie in the sky really and that's what we're here to demonstrate against.

01:46 and that would be 62% of the proportion of what we have already so that's a huge increase.
01:56 The traffic will not be able to cope with it, the infrastructure, the GP practice, the
02:03 doctors, the pharmacy, I mean we're just not going to be able to cope with it. This is
02:07 why there are so many people behind us here really angry, very upset and they've all been
02:14 signing the petition and we've collected 2,600 petitions already within two and a half weeks.
02:22 It's a lot of anger, people are very, very upset about it. So here we are, a peaceful
02:28 protest to represent the people of Albrighton and the surrounding villages. And we have
02:35 the support of the MP, Mark Richard and Nigel Lovely, the overwhelming support is there
02:45 against this pleasure.
