00:00 Welcome everybody into the Big Ten show.
00:05 I am your host, Adam Akerik.
00:08 We got a lot to talk about today.
00:10 We're talking about Kaitlyn Clark, probably the greatest college women's basketball player
00:16 of all time.
00:17 There's other cases to be made.
00:18 Most of those women wore the Yukon jersey.
00:21 Couple of them wore the Baylor jersey.
00:22 Things of that nature.
00:23 When you look at just the straight basketball credentials, but I want to talk about Kaitlyn
00:26 Clark just a little bit to start off the show.
00:30 Then we're going to get into my way too early Big Ten football power rankings.
00:37 My top ten teams.
00:39 A couple of honorable mentions as well and why they weren't just quite put in the top
00:43 ten and then some teams that just got a long freaking ways to go before we start football
00:48 up in September.
00:49 I'm going to get my top ten way too early Big Ten preseason power rankings.
00:55 That was a mouthful.
00:56 Also, the NFL draft, not too far away.
00:59 I'm going to give my top ten Big Ten players as it stands right now.
01:04 Okay, post-Senior Bowl, pre-combine, heading in to the NFL draft, which is only a couple
01:10 of months away, ladies and gentlemen.
01:12 But before we dive into this, light that candle.
01:15 Make sure you see what our friends at the Jacobson Seed Company are all about.
01:19 They are your healthy hybrid advantage farmers.
01:23 Thanks for watching the Big Ten show, but we can give you more than great Big Ten coverage.
01:27 We can help you with your fields.
01:29 Go to jacobsonseed.com.
01:32 Jacobson Seed, your healthy hybrid advantage.
01:34 That is jacobsonseed.com.
01:36 All right, let's start right off the top.
01:39 Now, their top transfer portal addition is quarterback Dylan Gabriel.
01:44 Rumors are the Shutter Sanders going to be the top rated quarterback in the upcoming
01:47 NCAA college football game.
01:49 Rumors are his rating is 95.
01:51 Rumors are, rumor and innuendo, Dylan Gabriel, who portal-aided for a little bit in the transfer
01:57 portal, then went up to Eugene, did a little portal-aiding, is going to be a 94, number
02:02 two.
02:03 Those are the rumors, okay, for those of you gaming nerds like myself out there.
02:08 You know, I used to play that game all the time in college, and right about the time
02:12 that my son, who's 14, became old enough to play that game, just start to learn X and
02:16 O and all that stuff, they took it away.
02:19 They took it away, thanks a lot, Sam Keller.
02:22 Thanks, Sam, Nebraska guy, thanks.
02:25 Thanks, buddy.
02:26 All right, I digress.
02:28 My point is simply this.
02:29 I look forward to playing that game with my son, because let's be honest, Madden's not
02:33 very good, and it doesn't get better.
02:36 It just gets progressively not good every year, so I look forward to playing an actual
02:42 football game that is actually good, but let's get back to the topic at hand.
02:46 All right, prior to Ohio State's run in the transfer portal, Oregon was entering the offseason
02:50 as the Big Ten's top team in 2024, at that point in time, anyways, in my opinion.
02:54 The Ducks may be losing Bo Nix, among others, but with Dylan Gabriel now a quarterback,
02:58 they shouldn't miss a beat in 2024.
03:00 This is not just your small, fast Oregon Ducks team of the past.
03:04 This is a team that's physical up front.
03:07 This is a team that wants to run the ball, wants to play defense, wants to tackle, and
03:10 can score.
03:12 This is a team that is a true national title-contending type team.
03:16 All right, next up is Ohio State.
03:20 I've talked about them a ton on the Big Ten show the past couple weeks.
03:24 I probably got them preseason number two, maybe number one, either Georgia or them right
03:29 now.
03:30 Oregon would be in my top five somewhere if I did an overall college football preseason
03:34 top five.
03:36 Now, their top, I mean, they got a couple of top transfer portal additions this offseason.
03:42 The one I'm going to name, the two I'm going to name are Safety Caleb Downs from Bama.
03:47 This was a big-time addition.
03:48 Okay, I'm going to name a couple more, actually.
03:51 Quenshawn Judkins, the best running back in the entire SEC conference out of Ole Miss,
03:55 comes and joins Ohio State.
03:57 Okay, he already had a great running back.
03:59 Then you got Will Howard, the Kansas State quarterback, who isn't without his flaws,
04:02 but he's going to add an extra dynamic with his legs.
04:05 Okay, so I got to imagine that after watching their archrival win a national championship
04:11 this past season, Ohio State, that's got to be a major motivating reason as to why they've
04:16 been so aggressive this offseason, especially in the transfer portal nabbing, again, here's
04:23 some names, the likes of Will Howard, Julian Sane, Quenshawn Judkins, Caleb Downs.
04:31 If you talk to Ohio State fans, some of them are incredibly impatient, and they're running
04:36 out of patience with Ryan Day, which boggles my mind.
04:39 And I get it.
04:40 Most of them feel like he started out on third base because Urban Meyer handed him the program.
04:44 That's how they feel.
04:45 Okay, some other Ohio State fans feel like this.
04:47 Ryan Day's program is set to return a majority of their impact players, and they're ready
04:53 to turn a corner.
04:54 They feel like Michigan's not the Michigan they've been for the past three years.
04:57 This is the best team they've had, which gives them the edge in the Big Ten, which gives
05:01 them a potential first round buy in the CFP playoffs, the 12-team format.
05:05 We'll talk about that format briefly here in a minute, because it just changed, I believe,
05:11 yesterday, maybe the day before.
05:12 And I believe Ohio State fans are really, really excited going into this year.
05:17 I'm not going to lie.
05:18 Like I said, I got them number one in the Big Ten, Oregon number two right now, and
05:21 I got Ohio State number two in the entire country behind Georgia at the moment.
05:25 I may eventually swap them.
05:27 My biggest hesitation at the moment, really, is how is Will Howard going to play as an
05:32 overall hole?
05:33 He's a good quarterback.
05:35 But remember, he was kind of losing his job at Kansas State to a true freshman a year
05:40 ago, which is one major reason he entered the transfer portal.
05:43 So he's a really, really good player.
05:45 And he had kind of taken the job from Adrian Martinez.
05:47 Adrian was hurt.
05:49 So it's kind of a thing that's happened with Kansas State quarterbacks the past couple
05:52 of years.
05:53 Adrian was the starter, got hurt.
05:54 Will came in, kind of took that job.
05:56 And now Will was kind of losing his job to a true freshman a year ago.
06:01 So that's why he was in the portal, and he was portal-aiding to begin with.
06:04 So it's one of those things where I'm curious to see how he plays.
06:08 He's a good quarterback, but is he a national championship quarterback?
06:11 We'll find out.
06:12 All right, let's chat real quick about the 12-team college football playoff.
06:19 Now it was originally set up that the top six conference champions in America, highest
06:24 rated six conference champions in America, would get automatically get in the playoffs
06:30 and the next top six rated teams, six at large, wildcard, whatever you want to call them,
06:34 teams, would get the next six bids.
06:37 And the top four conference champs would get first round buys.
06:40 Now they've changed that to the top five conference champs in America get automatic bids, and
06:43 the top four conference champs get the automatic one through four seeds, first round buys.
06:49 And it's interesting.
06:50 I was like, "When is this going to happen?"
06:51 Because it's got to happen at some point, because you're going to assume the Big Ten
06:56 and SEC champ are in, and then you're going to assume probably the Big 12 champ in Arizona,
07:01 Utah, which no disrespect, but eventually that's going to get changed because a team
07:07 like Arizona, Utah, people don't envision in their minds them being a top four team
07:12 with an automatic first round buy.
07:13 Then you got an ACC team.
07:16 If Florida State's good again, great.
07:17 If not, who else steps up?
07:18 Clemson ain't been Clemson.
07:19 There's still nine or 10 wins a year.
07:22 Man, expectations.
07:23 They're a phenomenal thing.
07:25 I will say this, Dabo Sweeney better learn to adapt to the modern age of college football,
07:29 or he's going to be that guy who toppled Nick Saban in the national championship game, battled
07:34 him multiple times.
07:35 They were clearly the two college football programs that were on top for many years.
07:39 He might find himself without a job at some point, which is almost insane for me to even
07:43 think about considering the success that he's had, but he's got to adapt.
07:46 Okay.
07:47 But who's going to come out of the ACC?
07:49 Is it Florida State?
07:50 Probably the favorite right now.
07:52 There's always hope for Miami, but they're always talented and the turnover chain is
07:56 cool, but they're never consistent.
07:57 All right.
07:58 North Carolina showed flashes last year, had a tough end to their season.
08:03 By the way, these are all teams that I'm talking about right now that might be in the big 10
08:05 and SEC soon.
08:07 Okay.
08:08 Okay.
08:09 But it was like, all right, so let's say it's Florida State.
08:12 Let's say it's Utah, Arizona.
08:13 Let's say it's a big 10 and SEC champ.
08:15 Then your next two automatic conference champs were probably going to come what from the
08:19 AAC, not to be confused with the ACC, the Mountain West, the Mac, the Sunbelt conference
08:25 you would say, where are they going to come from?
08:28 So I figured we were going to narrow it down to five conference champs getting automatic
08:33 bids at some point.
08:34 They finally did.
08:35 So the format going forward, top five conference champs in America, highest rated.
08:40 Okay.
08:41 Automatic bids top four.
08:42 You get the first round buys.
08:44 Then you get the next seven highest rated teams at large bids, wildcard teams, whatever
08:48 you want to call them.
08:49 That makes more sense because I saw a preseason college football prediction.
08:55 I can't think of the word thing where they had Boise State getting in and they had, who
09:04 was it out of the AAC?
09:05 It wasn't Memphis.
09:06 I forget who it was.
09:08 It might've been Memphis out of the AAC.
09:11 Getting automatic bids in the college football, 12 team playoff.
09:14 And I was like, automatic bids.
09:16 Okay.
09:17 That's weird.
09:18 So this makes a little bit more sense.
09:19 All right.
09:21 Now let's get in.
09:24 Got about a few minutes left in this show.
09:25 I've gone way over time, but it depends on how you look at it.
09:28 When I'm talking football, when I'm talking sports in general, I can always make time.
09:34 I love doing this stuff.
09:35 It's not even a real job.
09:36 Can't believe I get to do this.
09:37 All right.
09:38 Here are my top 10.
09:39 Okay.
09:40 At this point in time right here, right now, big 10 players heading in to the NFL draft,
09:47 the 2024 NFL draft.
09:48 Now this first guy, probably the most polarizing guy in the draft, talking about polarizing,
09:53 Caleb Williams, USC quarterback.
09:56 This is a guy that I've seen NFL scouts anonymously on social media be quoted as saying he's a
10:01 bust end quote.
10:04 You got the fingernail paintings, you got all these things.
10:06 And I chatted last week about how some of these things can be a distraction and maybe
10:11 he'll slide down the draft boards due to this.
10:14 And I brought up names like Colin Kaepernick and I brought up names like Tim Tebow, whether
10:18 you agree or disagree with what they were standing for.
10:23 The fact is they be, it became a huge, gigantic distraction.
10:27 Guys who won games in the NFL, guys who won playoff games in the NFL.
10:31 I'm going to tell you right now, NFL teams don't want those distractions.
10:35 It detracts from everything else.
10:38 So you better be better than Michael Jordan if you're going to be a gigantic distraction.
10:44 Okay.
10:45 Hope that made sense.
10:46 I guess Dennis Rodman wasn't better than Michael Jordan and he was a Dennis Rodman type distraction
10:49 and teams figured out a way to make it work.
10:51 But you also need a guys like Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen on that team to rein him
10:55 in.
10:56 So it's got to be the right team as well.
10:58 So I think the team that Caleb goes to, a lot of people projecting the bears.
11:03 I know Justin Fields just unfollowed the bears on Facebook.
11:07 Like who keeps track of this stuff?
11:09 I don't get an alert telling me that Justin Fields unfollowed the bears.
11:12 How do you know this?
11:13 Do you go in and check all this crap every day?
11:16 Goodness gracious.
11:17 How does, how do people have time to figure all this stuff out?
11:21 Anyways, I digress.
11:23 My point is this.
11:24 It looks like he's going to the bears.
11:26 There's a potential he could drop if they decide he's too big a distraction.
11:30 Maybe other teams let him drop.
11:32 Right now when you just look at the talent and ability, I got him number one and I don't
11:36 think he's a big enough distraction just yet that he's going to start sliding way down
11:41 boards.
11:43 Number two, Marvin Harrison Jr.
11:45 One of the best wide receiver prospects we've had in a long time come out in the draft.
11:49 Okay.
11:50 This is a guy who his dad, Marvin Harrison, senior, absolute stud.
11:56 Anybody who watched the Colts back in the day knew that he might be better than his
11:59 dad potentially.
12:00 I mean, he, he, he's a stud.
12:02 He took over the Penn state game.
12:04 He was the difference in that Penn state game.
12:07 Penn state could not throw the ball in that game.
12:11 Ohio state, Kyle McCord did not play well that day.
12:15 Basically what they did is they moved Marvin Harrison Jr. all over the field, like a chess
12:19 piece, put him in motion, put him inside and trips, put him outside and trips, put him
12:22 off the ball, put him off the ball in motion, had emotion that line up on the ball, then
12:26 put him in motion, had him line up off the ball, ran drag routes, out routes, flat routes,
12:29 runner routes, post routes.
12:30 And basically the, the entire game plan was to get the ball to him and it worked.
12:35 And he was the difference in that game.
12:36 Penn state can throw the ball.
12:37 Ohio state, Kyle McCord struggled with some ugly passes, but he complete, complete, could
12:41 complete it easy for me to say to that guy.
12:43 And that's why they won.
12:45 All right, next up, Washington wide receiver, Romeo Dunes.
12:50 And this was a guy, if you watched him throughout the year, not a lot of people watched Washington
12:54 throughout the year.
12:55 I wasn't as surprised as some other people were at how they spank Texas and the CFP.
13:00 I was hoping they'd play Michigan a little better.
13:02 Okay.
13:03 Michigan is pretty good last year.
13:04 I guess that's what happens when you don't play anybody.
13:06 You're really, really fresh for the playoff.
13:08 I said it.
13:09 He had 92 catches, 1,604 receiving yards and 13 TDs.
13:14 Now he's not, he's not as good as Marvin Harrison Jr. in my opinion, but man, he's really good.
13:20 These are two, two, two really good wide receivers.
13:22 If you can get either one of these guys, I'm just going to read you what a scout said.
13:27 And I quote Odunza, Odunza is a, is a silky smooth vertical wide receiver who offers upside
13:33 as a big play target down the field.
13:35 You can't help, but just appreciate his ability to track down the football in the air and
13:40 adjust to the ball when it comes his direction and a compliments his long strides to create
13:45 vertical separation.
13:47 End quote.
13:49 In other words, you can throw the ball up to him on a fourth and short at the goal line,
13:55 or when you got more field to play with, he can make a big play downfield.
13:58 Dude's a playmaker.
14:00 All right, next up, Penn State offensive tackle, Olaf Roushani.
14:05 Now this is a guy who has not played a ton.
14:07 Now he's got 21 career starts.
14:08 That's not even two full seasons.
14:10 Okay.
14:12 Only allowed one sack during the whole entire time.
14:15 When you watch him on film, he has physical traits and footwork of an elite lineman.
14:19 You can tell he's not played a lot of football.
14:21 You can tell he's absurdly gifted and he's only going to get better.
14:25 This is a guy.
14:26 It's scary how good he can be one day.
14:29 He hasn't come close to reaching his ceiling yet.
14:31 Now when I kind of mocked out my top 10, regardless of conference, top 10 players heading the
14:38 NFL draft, regardless of conference for them, we're from the big 10.
14:42 I had a number five.
14:43 Here I go.
14:44 I'm going to give you a list of some of you.
14:46 Not overall picks.
14:47 This is my fifth ranked big 10 player heading into the draft.
14:52 And a lot of this is based on people I've talked to.
14:57 This is a little bit of, I don't know if it's my opinion on this particular player, as it
15:03 is things I've heard other people say.
15:06 Because to me, he could have came back for another season and really upped his draft
15:10 stock even more.
15:11 But here's what pro scouts see.
15:12 They see a tall, athletic guy with a big arm who has, with the exception, I mean, Drake
15:18 May, Jaden Daniels, Caleb Williams.
15:20 Those are probably the top three guys.
15:22 Outside of those top three guys has by far the highest ceiling of anyone remaining in
15:26 his position group.
15:27 And that's JJ McCarthy.
15:29 All right.
15:30 Now, when I looked online, I saw him projected to actually go number 11 to Minnesota.
15:36 We'll see if that pans out.
15:38 They got Kirk Cousins.
15:39 They got that whole ordeal they're going through with Kirk up there at the Vikings.
15:42 They're going to resign him, whatever.
15:43 But yeah, I got him going ahead of Bo Nix and Michael Penix.
15:47 He's the youngest of all these quarterbacks and all these first round quarterbacks.
15:51 Okay.
15:52 He doesn't have the stats.
15:54 He didn't have to have the stats, which makes him the biggest question mark.
15:59 But any good NFL coach is going to see talent and be like, I can develop that guy.
16:04 Otherwise they don't have the confidence and they shouldn't be coaching in the NFL.
16:09 Here's my point.
16:10 There's no more potential upside.
16:15 The most of quarterbacks in this draft, but in my opinion, definitely Michael Penix and
16:18 Bo Nix who are incredibly talented guys in their own right.
16:22 Okay.
16:23 I just think Bo Nix has a little bit lower ceiling than the three quarterbacks I just
16:27 mentioned.
16:28 JJ, Michael Penix and Bo, but he's incredibly efficient.
16:32 The hesitation with Michael Penix, I'll just tell you right now is the injuries.
16:35 Okay.
16:36 Is the injuries and all the years of college football that he played.
16:39 He only had two where he made it through the whole year healthy.
16:43 He's got ACL issues, multiple ones.
16:46 And so that's why a guy who can run, if you watch him when he runs, he can run, but he
16:49 never runs.
16:50 And that's why.
16:51 All right.
16:52 Next up, number six on my list, Troy Franklin, wide receiver, Oregon.
16:56 Now he's one of the draft's fastest risers.
16:58 Okay.
16:59 A top 10 last year in the FBS and receiving yards and touchdowns.
17:04 He's a big play type wide receiver.
17:06 Okay.
17:07 Like I said, this is a really good wide receiver draft class.
17:10 Next up Cooper Dijon defensive back returner from Iowa.
17:15 This is a guy who can play corner.
17:16 He can play safety, a sure tackler.
17:20 Now he got hurt and didn't finish the year and he still earned the big 10 defensive back
17:25 of the year and return specialist of the year award.
17:27 This is a guy.
17:29 It felt like he was like three fourths of Iowa's offense until he got hurt this year.
17:33 Okay.
17:34 This is a guy who can make a difference as a returner.
17:36 He can play multiple positions and he's a stud at multiple positions on defense.
17:40 He's a difference maker.
17:41 All right.
17:43 Number eight.
17:44 I've practiced this and I hope I do this name justice.
17:48 Latu Latu.
17:49 All right.
17:50 Defensive end from UCLA.
17:52 Now my opinion is probably the top interior lineman prospect in this draft.
17:56 He had a great senior bowl, great senior bowl.
17:59 Also one of the youngest players in this year's draft or at the senior bowl.
18:04 He was the one of the youngest players and also one of the youngest players in the whole
18:07 entire NFL draft at the age of 21.
18:09 Now I, at the senior bowl, I was there with a guy named a Moby Akoya, D tackle from Louisville.
18:16 He was the youngest player to ever be drafted in the NFL.
18:20 He was 19 years old.
18:21 The first ever teenager.
18:22 Think about that.
18:23 You got a teenager at home.
18:24 Think about that.
18:25 First ever teenager to be drafted in the NFL draft.
18:28 Number 10 overall to the Texans.
18:30 This dude was very mature for his age, which you'd have to be.
18:35 My gosh, I wasn't mature at all when I was a teenager.
18:38 I'm 39 and I'm barely half mature.
18:42 When I coach my kids teams, I make the joke, don't worry.
18:44 Hey, pay attention.
18:45 I'm going to keep this post game speech short.
18:46 Not for your attention.
18:47 For me, I got a shorter attention span that you kids do.
18:50 That's true.
18:51 They all know it's true.
18:52 I'm going to keep those post game speeches short and that's why, but he was mature for
18:55 his age.
18:56 He played really good at the senior bowl and I would have never known he was 19.
19:00 Obviously I knew it because it was everywhere at the time, but I'll never forget watching
19:06 a 19 year old play at the senior bowl and get drafted in the top 10 in the NFL draft.
19:12 All right, last two about to round out this show here.
19:16 Quarterback from Washington, Michael Panics, Jr.
19:18 This is a dude who shocked people who had not been watching college football as a whole
19:24 when he sliced and diced and dissected a young Texas secondary.
19:29 Here's the deal.
19:31 In that Texas game, they have a group, probably the best defensive tackle do on the entire
19:35 country last year.
19:37 One of the best D lines, okay.
19:39 A D line that terrorized Alabama, okay.
19:43 On the road when they, when they beat Bama at in Bama's house early in the season, didn't
19:49 hardly phase Michael Penn.
19:50 He got rid of the ball quick.
19:51 He got it out fast.
19:52 Now his receivers were open and he had three NFL receivers on that roster, but he had to
19:55 make the reads.
19:56 He had to make the throws.
19:57 He had to do it quickly and he had to do it now.
19:58 He had to do it with arm strength and accuracy and he did it.
20:01 And the few times Texas did come free, he'd go to his check down.
20:03 Boom.
20:04 Just like that.
20:05 Now the hesitation is the injuries.
20:07 Like I mentioned earlier, he did not look good against Michigan.
20:11 Do one thing for me.
20:13 Name one quarterback that looked good against Michigan last year.
20:17 Now he would have helped himself and he got the crap beat out of him in that Michigan
20:20 game.
20:21 He walked off that field a very different man than he did walking off the field versus
20:25 Texas and it wasn't just about the scoreboard.
20:28 Michigan was legit, legit on defense, legit pass rush, just legit.
20:33 Now he would have helped himself a lot had he just looked like an average quarterback
20:38 in that Michigan game because it's hard to figure out, was he just not that good?
20:42 Was Michigan just really that good?
20:44 Was it a combination of both?
20:46 Because he's sort of drafts draft boards after the Texas game.
20:50 And then I know he leveled way off, so to speak, after the Michigan game, the people
20:54 who had him soaring after the Texas game had not watched him at all this year.
20:59 I was not surprised at all.
21:01 I was surprised Texas didn't get to him more, but I wasn't surprised when he had time that
21:05 he got rid of the ball as well as he did.
21:08 Against Michigan, I knew it'd be a lot tougher.
21:10 I was hoping he'd have more success.
21:11 I thought he would have more success.
21:13 He obviously did not, not consistently anyways.
21:15 But this is a guy who could easily go first round.
21:18 I could see him potentially dropping just with some of the concerns, but I do see him
21:22 going late in the first round, probably.
21:24 All right, last, number 10, Big Ten player on the early, going into the NFL draft board
21:33 per Adam Carriker is Bo Nix.
21:35 This is a guy, when you talk about efficiency, I mean, if you want a guy who can come in
21:38 and probably be ready to start day one as much as anybody.
21:41 I mean, he set the career record for starts in the FBS with 61.
21:47 I think he played 92 seasons of college football.
21:50 I remember watching his first game he ever started at Auburn.
21:53 I don't think my son, Jacob, who's 14 now was born yet.
21:57 I do.
21:58 I remember watching it was at my in-laws house.
21:59 It was in the basement.
22:00 That was a heck of a game.
22:01 It was one of those early neutral site games.
22:05 I forget who they were playing.
22:07 It's not the one where they got killed by Georgia.
22:10 That was a different game.
22:11 But this is a guy with a lot of experience, very efficient.
22:13 He also set the FBS record for completion percentage.
22:17 He broke Mac Jones' record, the former Alabama quarterback.
22:21 Bo Nix did by completing 77.45% of his, 45% of his passes this year.
22:26 This is a guy with experience.
22:27 This is a guy, and I'm not saying he's not talented.
22:29 I mean, are you kidding me?
22:31 He's talented.
22:32 I just don't think his ceiling is as high as a Michael Penix.
22:34 I also think his floor isn't anywhere near as low as a Michael Penix or a JJ McCarthy.
22:39 Those are the two quarterbacks in the draft that I think have a really high ceiling, JJ
22:43 and Michael, and also have the lowest floor potentially because there's the biggest question
22:46 marks about them.
22:47 You could say that about Caleb Williams as well.
22:49 You can say about any quarterback.
22:51 There's no guarantee when it comes to drafting players.
22:54 That's just part of the draft process, and that's why some teams are really bad year
22:57 after year because they're really bad at it.
22:59 There's the same teams that tend to draft lower, tend to always draft lower because
23:03 they tend to evaluate prospects better, and they tend to win more games, so they're always
23:07 drafting lower.
23:08 The teams that always draft high tend to usually keep drafting high because they're not very
23:11 good at evaluating prospects.
23:12 How do you always have a top pick?
23:14 One of the top picks, and yet you don't get better.
23:17 That blows my mind.
23:18 I kind of just explained it.
23:20 My point is simply this.
23:21 Bo Nix is a guy, like if I'm the Niners, he might be a guy that I'm eyeing, and nothing
23:28 against Purdy, Brock Purdy.
23:32 This is a dude that's a really good quarterback, and he played well in the Super Bowl.
23:37 He answered a lot of questions in the Super Bowl, but to me, the Niners have, along with
23:43 the Eagles, the two best rosters in all of football.
23:45 And remember, the Eagles were 10 and 1 after their first 11 games this year.
23:48 Then they fell off a cliff.
23:49 10 and 1.
23:50 And then they won one game the rest of the year and got embarrassed on the road by a
23:55 pretty good Tampa Bay Bucs team in the playoffs, but not great.
23:58 Okay, Tampa went up to Detroit and fought the Lions really hard, so I got respect for
24:01 that, but the Eagles and the Niners have the two best rosters, and the only question mark
24:07 I have about the Niners is their quarterback position.
24:10 And maybe Purdy is the long-term answer.
24:11 Again, he answered a lot of questions in that Super Bowl.
24:14 They did not lose that game because of him.
24:16 Their first two drives, he looked great.
24:19 Not good, great, before Spagnola, the Chiefs defensive coordinator, made some adjustments.
24:24 It's not his fault McCaffrey fumbled on that first drive.
24:27 They were going in to score.
24:28 It's not his fault they had 14 million penalties on the second drive, which stalled the drive.
24:32 The 49ers easily could have had a 10 or 14 point lead right out the gate, and they didn't,
24:36 and it wasn't his fault.
24:37 That being said, he's still the biggest question mark on that team.
24:40 And I see a Bo Nix potentially being a guy that could come in and compete and let the
24:45 best man win.
24:46 And I'm not a Niners fan.
24:47 That's just a team that pops into my head.
24:49 They're a team that's going to be drafting late, obviously, in the first round.
24:52 Bo Nix could be a late first round pick, maybe take it higher, mid first round, who knows?
24:56 Could be a good fit.
24:57 All right, ladies and gentlemen, this has been one of the longer Big Ten shows I've
25:00 done in a while.
25:01 I guess when I don't have a co-host, I just talk more.
25:05 Like I said, I don't have a real job.
25:07 I get to talk sports.
25:08 All right, until next time, ladies and gentlemen, have a phenomenal day.
25:12 And it's been the Big Ten Show with Adam Carricker.
