IZZY Ogawa, 19, from Canada, describes her look as "dark, gory and Vampire-esque", which always turns heads in public. Izzy has been dressing in her unique style since high school, but she has not always been met with the positive reactions she gets today. Izzy told Transformed: "I was trolled in highschool for my traditional goth look and it got to the point where I was extremely self conscious about the way I looked. I remember walking down the halls and people would run past me and call me names and it was like... Why?" Today, with the help of makeup artist Victoria, Izzy will be surprising her two best friends after transforming from trad goth to a 'glitzy glam Barbie'! This is something that Izzy is particularly scared about - and it's mainly for one reason: "I'm scared that I'm going to like it!" Will this transformation make Izzy consider leaving her gothic days behind her for good? Or will the glitz and glam be all too much?

00:00 Today I'm going from trad goth to glitzy glam Barbie,
00:04 and I'm gonna be surprising my two best friends tonight.
00:06 And I am super scared.
00:08 I'm scared that I'm gonna like it.
00:11 If I had to summarize my look in a few words,
00:13 it would be dark, gory, and vampire-esque.
00:17 - You ready to see?
00:20 - I am.
00:21 - Looks so good.
00:23 One, two, three.
00:26 - Oh my gosh, this is not me.
00:29 I don't wanna look at myself.
00:31 Oh my God.
00:33 I'm Izzy.
00:36 I've been doing goth makeup for like,
00:37 I would say maybe two or three years now.
00:40 I've always liked darker clothes
00:43 and like the whole aesthetic.
00:44 When I was a kid, I always was more attracted
00:47 to the more vampire, dark aesthetic.
00:50 I feel like goth to me is sometimes just,
00:53 I feel like I'm playing myself.
00:54 I feel like when I'm dressing up
00:56 and I feel like I'm being true to myself,
00:58 I feel like this is who I wanna be and who I am.
01:01 Today, I'm being transformed from traditional goth to Barbie.
01:06 This is like complete opposite of like what I would do.
01:08 Like I'm very like black, maybe white, grays,
01:12 maybe like dark reds, dark purples,
01:14 but I would never do a pink.
01:16 (knocking)
01:21 - Hi. - Hi.
01:22 - I'm Victoria, so nice to meet you.
01:24 - Nice to meet you.
01:24 - Are you excited?
01:25 - I am.
01:26 Do you wanna come in? - Thank you.
01:27 - Do you know what kind of look we're going for?
01:29 - I think we're going for glam.
01:30 - Yeah, I'm thinking like a really airbrushed skin,
01:34 a little bit of a smoky,
01:35 kind of like an Instagram influencer model look.
01:38 - Okay, I like that.
01:39 - I'm gonna take your lashes off.
01:44 - Okay.
01:45 - Okay.
01:46 Doesn't it feel so freeing?
01:48 - I feel like I can see much better.
01:49 Years ago, I started doing like eyeliner
01:54 and I started dressing a little bit more alternative.
01:56 I was wearing like band shirts all the time
01:59 and it slowly started developing into like,
02:00 you know what, I don't care what people say about me.
02:03 I wanna start dressing how I want to.
02:05 Both my parents were like heavily tattooed,
02:07 like alternative people,
02:08 so I feel like I was definitely like going in that direction.
02:12 So I feel like I was like born to be this way.
02:16 When I think of a glam look,
02:17 I think of like high heels, sparkly dresses,
02:20 glitters, glossy lips.
02:23 - And what made you wanna choose that?
02:25 - Just like complete opposite of like what I would do.
02:27 Like I'm very like black, maybe white, grays,
02:32 maybe like dark reds, dark purples,
02:34 but I would never do a pink.
02:36 I've avoided like glam, glitzy Barbie for my whole life
02:40 'cause I'm scared like deep down
02:42 that I might actually like it.
02:43 - And what happens if you like it?
02:45 - I'd lose all my money, all my clothes.
02:47 I've spent so much money on like goth clothes
02:50 and dark, scary stuff and all my goth stompy boots.
02:55 I'm scared that I'm just gonna have to like
02:57 buy a new wardrobe.
02:58 - Okay, so I'm gonna get started on the tattoos.
03:02 - All right.
03:02 I'm a little nervous, I'm pretty scared.
03:05 - Don't worry, just gonna turn you into a whole new person.
03:09 - I was trolled in high school for my traditional goth look
03:14 and it got to the point where I was like
03:16 extremely self-conscious about how I looked.
03:19 But I would be called like names like Batman
03:22 or Vampire or Freak.
03:25 I remember walking down the halls
03:26 and people would like run past me and call me names
03:29 and it was like, why?
03:31 I feel like it was really hard for me to make friends.
03:33 I only had like a specific small group of friends
03:36 that consisted of two other people and it really sucked.
03:39 - Your skin looks amazing right now.
03:42 How do you think your friends are gonna react to this?
03:44 - They're gonna be shocked.
03:46 I'm gonna be revealing my look to my two best friends.
03:49 I think that they're gonna hate it.
03:53 They're definitely gonna be surprised
03:54 that they've never seen me like this.
03:57 So it's definitely gonna be a shocker to everybody.
03:59 I am so excited for the transformation today.
04:03 - I'm so freaking scared.
04:05 - So how are you feeling about that?
04:07 - I'm terrified, what if I like it?
04:09 - What if you do like it?
04:11 - Gonna be weird.
04:11 - It'll be weird.
04:12 I don't think I've ever seen Izzy
04:13 in anything but trad goth.
04:14 - Yeah.
04:15 - And giant lashes.
04:16 - And giant lashes, yeah.
04:17 - Don't even bring up my lashes.
04:19 Parting with my lashes is like parting
04:22 with a deep sentimental item that I have.
04:25 These--
04:25 - The emotional support lashes.
04:27 - They are emotional support lashes.
04:29 - And it's like, why did you decide
04:31 to come to the transformation today?
04:32 - I'm always like really dark, goth, scary, tall,
04:36 just very ominous.
04:39 So I feel like it's just gonna--
04:41 - Overbearing presence.
04:43 - Yeah, I'm just gonna be like,
04:45 I'm going from unapproachable to approachable.
04:48 - I'm never gonna see God with Izzy ever again.
04:51 - Okay.
04:57 - I think we're done.
05:00 You ready to see?
05:01 - I am.
05:02 - Looks so good.
05:04 - So nervous.
05:05 - All right, ready?
05:07 - Ready as I'll ever be.
05:09 - One, two, three.
05:14 (laughing)
05:17 Oh my gosh.
05:19 I don't look like myself.
05:24 This is so weird.
05:29 This is not me at all.
05:30 The fact that, I can't, I can't, I can't.
05:34 I don't know if I love this or hate it.
05:40 - You look like a Barbie.
05:41 - I do look like a Barbie, but this is not me.
05:44 I don't want to look at myself, like I'm scared.
05:47 I'm getting like uncanny valley from this.
05:50 Oh my gosh, I feel like I'm gonna have a heart attack.
05:55 I'm gonna take a second, I'm gonna take a breather.
05:57 Oh my God.
05:57 The more I look at it, the more I like it,
06:01 but also at the same time, like this is not me.
06:03 This is so terrifying.
06:05 Like, this is not me at all.
06:10 - It's very different.
06:12 - My heart's racing right now.
06:14 - What do you think your friends are gonna say?
06:17 - I think they're gonna scream.
06:19 - Yeah? - Yeah.
06:20 - It's gonna be weird.
06:21 I don't think I've ever seen Izzy
06:22 without like heavy makeup on, so it'll be interesting.
06:25 We've never seen her without tattoos.
06:26 I think that's gonna be like the trippiest part
06:28 is like, she's heavily tattooed.
06:30 So having her without tattoos
06:31 is definitely gonna be an experience.
06:33 Oh my God.
06:35 What the (beep)
06:37 That is not Izzy.
06:38 That's crazy.
06:41 - Hi.
06:42 (upbeat music)
06:44 - That's crazy.
06:45 (laughing)
06:46 - You look like a Kardashian.
06:47 (laughing)
06:48 - No, that's wild.
06:50 - Do you like it?
06:51 - It's pretty, but it's not Izzy.
06:53 - No, it's not me at all.
06:55 I feel like I'm wearing like a not Izzy meet suit.
06:58 Like I'm wearing the skin of a different person.
07:00 - Yeah, it's weird.
07:01 - I feel like my personality,
07:02 my whole being has been stripped of me.
07:04 - Yeah.
07:05 That would check out.
07:06 - I feel like I look like the color beige right now.
07:09 I feel like I look boring and bland.
07:11 - Like this isn't me.
07:12 Where's the pizzazz?
07:13 - The pizzazz?
07:14 - Where's the spice?
07:15 - I don't think we would be friends.
07:17 - Really?
07:18 (laughing)
07:19 - Girl.
07:20 - We wouldn't be friends if I looked like that.
07:21 - We wouldn't be bumping into each other at metal shows.
07:24 - No, I look like I only listen to Taylor Swift
07:25 and Katy Perry.
07:26 - Yeah, you do.
07:28 (laughing)
07:29 - What do you think of your friends' reactions?
07:31 - They were so shocked.
07:33 I knew that they were gonna react that exact way,
07:35 but they were just completely just like mind blown.
07:40 - So I would say this experience has taught me
07:43 just to always be myself and don't follow beauty standards
07:48 just because it's popular or what the beauty standard is.
07:52 Just to always stick true to who I am
07:55 and what makes me happy.
07:56 (upbeat music)
