00:00 Hello there, Lee Sobot at the Yorkshire Evening Post here from Ellen Road where Leeds United's
00:06 winning run at this ground has finally ended through a 1-1 draw against Coventry City,
00:12 which really you've got to say is a massive missed opportunity for Leeds who were given
00:16 an opening via Ipswich Town, drawing 2-2 in the East Anglian Derby Saturday lunchtime
00:22 against Norwich City and that gave Leeds the chance to cut the gap back to eight points
00:26 but ultimately a 1-1 draw has left matters as it is and obviously you would say that
00:31 not even half way through the season, albeit very close to being. And there are a lot of
00:34 games to go but we've seen that Ipswich and Leicester aren't dropping many points at the
00:39 moment and really got to sort of like take those chances when they come along and it's
00:43 you know it's a missed opportunity this for Leeds who had loads and loads of chances to
00:47 win the game. A goalless first half, there were boos at the half time whistle but that
00:52 was basically for referee Geoff Eltringham who had a bit of a shocker, just loads of
00:55 free kicks he didn't give and it's not really surprising at the end of this game it boiled
00:59 over. Quite a sort of like you know tempers a lot in this game, various fouls and whatever
01:06 but that weren't given including possible penalty shouts for Leeds in the first half
01:10 but they weren't brilliant in the first half you've got to be honest which ended goalless.
01:13 Much better in the second half, up the tempo and finally made the breakthrough through
01:16 that man again, Crisentio Somerville, lovely through ball by Giorginio Routeru, gradually
01:21 got going as the game wore on, played him in, lovely finish, ten goals of the season
01:25 for him, he's obviously been outstanding for Leeds this season. 1-0 up and then straight
01:31 away looked for the second goal, didn't get it and that was crucial. As we always know
01:35 1-0 is quite often never enough and I think it was eight minutes after Somerville had
01:39 scored that Coventry drew level. Bobby Thomas header, very very nice cross into the box,
01:46 Thomas just arrived in between Pascal Stroik and Archie Gray to nod home and Leeds will
01:51 be disappointed with them, you know the way they conceded the goal but if they'd have
01:54 taken more of the chances then it wouldn't have mattered because it would have ended
01:57 up 2-1, 3-1, 4-1. The biggest chance was when there was seven minutes added time, Dan James
02:01 was slipped in by Joe Gelhart who came on and deflected through ball and that was an
02:06 absolute sitter that he put wide. James did have a reasonably good game but got a score
02:09 that, it's not just him, there were loads of chances that were missed and it's obviously
02:13 now just one point from the last two games following that defeat at Sunderland and obviously
02:17 Leeds needed a response here and basically didn't get the response they wanted. It is
02:22 another point you'd say that but Southampton have now drawn level with Leeds as well so
02:27 it would be foolish to think this is some sort of three horse race because I think Southampton
02:31 you'd have to say will be very much in it. Leicester play on Monday night against Birmingham
02:35 City but most people would obviously expect them to win that but yeah, Leeds need to pick
02:39 it back up again and obviously now Ipswich here at Ellen Road next Saturday is going
02:42 to be absolutely huge, there's a chance to get that gap down to seven, lose that and
02:46 it becomes 13 which is obviously very very big but really need to start cutting in very
02:50 very quickly into that gap so a bit more needed from Leeds for sure, definitely in front of
02:54 goal, got to take the chances, missed chance here overall. Leeds United 1, Coventry City
