00:00 >> All right, so Jonathan is out for at least a couple weeks with this surgery.
00:05 And Coach Shane said it's you up alongside Zach for this stretch.
00:10 And he was very comfortable with you from your time together in Philadelphia.
00:14 How are you attacking this next stretch as the primary backup?
00:18 We're gonna see an increased usage.
00:21 >> I just keep my preparation the same.
00:24 I mean, since I've gotten here, I prepare every week like I'm gonna play.
00:29 My routine doesn't change.
00:32 Now that I have another opportunity ahead of me,
00:34 now it's just time to take advantage of it.
00:37 I feel like I've been pretty consistent and I worked hard and
00:41 I didn't change trust.
00:42 So now it's time to go out there and make the most of it.
00:46 >> How's it been for, you've been here all season now, learning from Jonathan,
00:50 learning from Zach, who is having his own breakout campaign.
00:53 What's it been like working with those guys so far?
00:55 >> It's been great.
00:57 Just seeing how they go out there and work every day and
01:00 just taking a little piece of both of that game out, just kind of mixing it in.
01:04 They're great players and it's been awesome just to work with those guys and
01:11 learn from them and just talk ball with them.
01:14 >> Did you feel different this time around than September or
01:16 October when you first got here?
01:17 Cuz you have had some time with the locker room and the system.
01:21 >> It feels a lot different.
01:23 I mean, the system is the same, but I mean, overall,
01:26 I feel a lot better than I did before.
01:28 I mean, just getting cleared and coming here and playing right away.
01:33 I mean, I was still rusty, in my opinion.
01:37 And now, with a lot of weeks, just working hard,
01:42 getting more in sync with the offensive line, I definitely feel a lot better.
01:45 >> You played against the Colts in the preseason,
01:50 you had standout early in that game.
01:52 Was there any thought that you could wind up here?
01:54 I mean, obviously, in the preseason, you're debuting for everybody.
01:57 Or, I mean, was there ever any thought you could wind up back here with Shane?
02:01 >> Not really, just because I was just so focused on just playing that game and
02:09 just putting my best foot forward and just showing that I have value,
02:14 whether it was with the Eagles or anywhere else.
02:17 That was just my main focus.
02:19 So I didn't really think too much about it.
02:21 I was trying to go out there and just be the best I could be.
02:24 >> What do you appreciate most about Zach and
02:28 his approach to making sure there's no drop off behind John's game?
02:32 What he's been helping?
02:34 >> Really just how he goes out there and work every day.
02:36 He's such a smart player.
02:39 He can kinda see things develop before it happens.
02:44 Like his patience in the run game is really good.
02:48 And that's another thing that I kinda picked up on from him.
02:52 But just going out there and seeing him just perform the way he does,
02:55 I mean, it's a good thing to see.
02:57 >> How have you seen the offense kind of maneuver for
03:00 the four years since you were with the last with Shane before that too?
03:03 >> Everybody's a little bit different.
03:07 But we have a lot of runs here that we like more than with Philly.
03:13 But I mean, the offensive line is great.
03:15 Those guys up front, they do a great job of just moving bodies and
03:20 getting a lot of displacement and just moving people.
03:23 And it makes our job easier.
03:25 I mean, when there's lanes, all we have to do is just be patient and just hit it.
03:29 >> Excited, are you?
03:30 >> Very excited.
03:30 It's a blessing just to be here, have this opportunity.
03:35 So now I just gotta go take advantage of it.
03:38 >> You're kinda used to this, right?
03:39 I mean, it's kinda ironic.
03:41 Whenever I think of the Big Ten Championship game,
03:43 I think of Trey Sermon going for 400 yards, right?
03:46 Out of nowhere.
03:47 >> No doubt.
03:48 I mean, it's just kind of a model that I just stand by, just stay ready.
03:52 You never know.
03:53 So like I said, the opportunity is here and now I just gotta go execute.
03:57 >> I apologize if you've been asking already, but what is staying ready?
04:01 What does that look like for you when you don't know when the next opportunity
04:03 might come?
04:04 >> I mean, really just standing in the film room,
04:08 just preparing every week like I'm gonna play.
04:11 And I feel like that's another reason why I'm just so comfortable and
04:15 I'm ready to go.
04:16 Because I mean, that's been my mindset every game.
04:18 Cuz you never know what'll happen in this league.
04:21 So I've been pretty consistent with that and now just trying to go showcase it.
