00:00 And Newcastle United are through to the Carabao Cup quarter-final after a simply brilliant
00:05 performance against Manchester United.
00:08 Eddie Howe made eight changes for the match, lots of rotation, obviously lots of injuries,
00:12 big fixtures coming up and it was six full-backs playing on the pitch, only four of the players
00:18 have made Premier League appearances.
00:19 It's a start, sorry, this season, but Newcastle were brilliant, 3-0.
00:24 Miguel Almiron opened the scoring after some brilliant work from Tino Liveramento.
00:29 Lewis Hall scored his first goal for the club with a tremendous volley and then Joe Willock
00:32 with a brilliant finish in the second half sealed a win that Newcastle deserve really.
00:37 They did very well to combat Manchester United who didn't really put up too much of a fight
00:40 and there's 7,000 Geordie fans in that section of the ground there.
00:44 I've come home from a long trip to Manchester United, a quarterback state, and very happy
00:51 faces, lots of smiles.
00:54 The draw has just been made, they've got Chelsea away, that's going to be another tough game,
00:57 it doesn't get any easier, but do you know what?
00:59 Right now you think you've just got to celebrate a fantastic performance from Eddie Howe's
01:02 side, it was brilliant.
01:04 Eric Ten Haag after the game was looked down, he said he took responsibility for that defeat,
01:11 but Eddie Howe, by contrast, was buoyant.
01:13 He described Liveramento and Hall's performance as outstanding, it was just a brilliant performance
01:18 from Newcastle, an unexpected one, but a fantastic one.
01:23 This just shows how resilient this team are and how capable they are, and they're not
01:28 just a team that will sit back and defend a 1-0 lead, even when it's 3-0 they're still
01:31 attacking for that other one.
01:33 Even a 2-0, they wanted that extra goal, so it was a fantastic performance from Eddie
01:38 Howe's side, one that they deservedly won 3-0, one that they deservedly go through to
01:42 the next round of the Cup.
01:43 Now, the next task is Arsenal at home on Saturday and it doesn't get much trickier than that.
01:48 But right now, Newcastle can celebrate a fantastic 3-0 win over Manchester United.
