00:00 I'm meteorologist Tony law back in Kearney,
00:02 NE wrapping up our three day storm
00:04 chase trip heading back home today.
00:05 After what has been a trip
00:07 that has been full of hail
00:09 Thursday and Friday,
00:09 certainly saw their share of it.
00:11 Saturday was supposed to be the big day,
00:13 but that did not end up being the case.
00:16 Let me tell you why.
00:17 When we got up Saturday morning,
00:19 we were already dealing with
00:21 storms across portions of Nebraska,
00:22 even South into Missouri,
00:23 Kansas and Oklahoma.
00:24 Those morning storms,
00:25 while some of them were severe,
00:27 did their best to knock out the
00:29 instability that we were going to
00:31 see later in the day on Saturday,
00:33 turning what would have been a rather
00:34 big event into a rather benign event.
00:36 With the exception of a couple of
00:38 tornadoes in far Northeast South
00:39 Dakota and some monster hail down
00:40 in Oklahoma, the central part of
00:42 that risk area didn't really have
00:44 enough instability thanks to the
00:45 clouds and the cooler weather,
00:46 and thus we just did not see the
00:48 severe weather that we were
00:50 thinking we were going to see.
00:51 Thursday, Friday,
00:52 certainly big hail days for us.
00:53 We saw the biggest hail on Thursday,
00:55 followed up by quite a bit of hail
00:57 on the Supercell we followed across
00:59 the Southern Nebraska Panhandle.
01:01 On Friday, we're heading back home
01:03 today to kind of wait the next
01:05 opportunity to get out in storm
01:07 chase as we have now arrived into
01:09 the second severe weather season.
01:11 Now that is well underway reporting
01:13 from Kearney, Nebraska for Accuweather.
01:14 I'm meteorologist Tony law back.
