00:00 Though the prevalence of malnutrition in India has been going down, the speed at which it's
00:13 going down needs improvement.
00:17 If we really want to meet the target of Sustainable Development Goals 2, 2-3 points for overcoming
00:23 the nutrition challenge in India could be particularly stressing of course the implementation
00:34 of the existing nutrition scheme and program with quality, intensity, coverage and consistency
00:42 and then concentrating on 1000 days and making sure children and women from pregnancy to
00:51 two years receive nutritious food with adequate vitamin, mineral, protein and calcium.
00:58 This means continuous supply through integrated child development program, making sure this
01:04 wonderful program runs well and reaches all needy children and mothers.
01:12 Second point would be is ensuring the public distribution program covers all the people
01:23 who need help and continuously also covering communities such as tribal population and
01:33 lastly continuous running of the midday schemes.
01:42 Particularly here the midday meal provides a hot cooked meal to children in school.
01:52 The lastly complementing this program with fortification as well as potentially diversifying
02:04 with cash support can really help population to get nutritive food.
02:17 The continuous running of the nutrition program as a development journey is really important
02:35 because the continued prioritization to nutrition with comprehensive approach of access to food,
02:46 health, water and sanitation can really give a comprehensive element of support and touch
03:01 among population which are really nutritively weak and stressing that going forward is really
03:15 important because people need income, people need good water and sanitation and also there

04:43 is driving hunger and malnutrition and is likely to be a huge concern going forward.
04:54 The World Health Organization estimates that more than 13 million death around the world
05:00 each year are due to avoidable environmental causes.
