00:08The Labor Challenge of Artificial Intelligence.
00:11The emergence of Artificial Intelligence, AI, is beginning to shake up the foundations of employment in Latin America,
00:19and the Dominican Republic is no exception.
00:22Although we are still far from massive automation, the impact on thousands of physical jobs is already foreseeable.
00:30Cashiers, drivers, agricultural workers, and free trade zone workers are among the most vulnerable.
00:35In many of these sectors, the technology already exists,
00:39and is only awaiting favorable conditions to replace human hands with faster, more accurate, and cheaper systems.
00:45It is estimated that up to 800,000 jobs could be at risk in our country in the next decade.
00:50And the most worrying aspect is not only the loss of jobs, but the lack of preparation to face this transition.
00:57In a country with more than 55% informal employment, professional retraining will not be easy.
01:05This phenomenon should not be seen as an inevitable threat, but rather as a wake-up call.
01:10The state, the private sector, and academia must coordinate training, technological updating,
01:15and digital inclusion policies that protect those most at risk.
01:18AI should not be a driver of exclusion, but rather an opportunity to create new, higher-value jobs.
01:26But to achieve this, we must act now.
01:29Time is running out, and the revolution has already begun.
