00:00Sunday is a special day, Women in Maritime Day.
00:03It's important that we recognise that the maritime industry is an industry that Australia has a really high need for.
00:10And it's an area where so far women have been underrepresented.
00:13So internationally 2% of women in this workforce.
00:17In Australia it's about 5%.
00:18But in TAFE we've got 19% of our students are women.
00:23And that's why we're able to today really welcome and highlight the number of female students that we have in the course with us here in Newcastle.
00:31There is a $5.2 million investment going into TAFE to get state-of-the-art technology which will allow our students to have the training that they need.
