Video: Newcastle Herald
Transcript
00:00So at about 7.20pm last night, we received a notice from Transport for New South Wales
00:05that they actually intend to declare the whole port of Newcastle an exclusion zone.
00:10That's from Cooragang Island all the way out the mouth of the harbour and a couple of kilometres
00:14radius around the harbour mouth.
00:16They'll be threatening anyone who gets in the water at all with fines of up to $1,100
00:22across Thursday to Monday next week, which covers the People's Blockade, the world's
00:27largest blockade.
00:29Oh, well we were shocked and disappointed and I think this is a clear case of Sydney
00:33politicians coming and trying to bully and intimidate Newcastle locals just for using
00:37our own beaches in opposition to a climate protest.
00:42But we're also fighting for the hunter, right?
00:43We're fighting for safe and clean jobs and funding for hunter workers to transition to
00:48the economies of tomorrow.
00:50And look, if the Premier can't stomach kids and families splashing on Horseshoe Beach,
00:55then he's not cut out for the job.
00:58Thanks for watching.
