00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Houston Betts and today I'm out on the streets of Manchester
00:04asking people about state schools. And that's because everyone knows how expensive it can be to have children.
00:09There are figures that go around every year about the certain costs over the course of their lifetime.
00:13One of the most expensive things can be schooling, whether it's getting the right stuff for a pencil case
00:17or buying branded school uniform. We want to know if people are worried about the cost of sending future children to school
00:22and if they've already done it, what costs surprise them.
00:25Branded uniforms and forcing parents to buy that stuff stinks.
00:29However, I'm old enough to remember, when I was at school, there was no uniform.
00:34You just turned up in your trackies, in your sports top or whatever and the kids formed their own uniform.
00:42I say make uniforms free, to be honest. I mean, as someone who's not long left school myself, you know,
00:48I remember how much it cost for a year for a uniform, about £120.
00:54And, you know, not a lot of parents have that.
00:58I would love to try and tough up.
