00:00There's been an heightened increase in EFCC's approach to clamp down on Naira abuse, particularly in Nigeria's party celebration, what we tag as money spread.
00:13And this could actually land you in EFCC's cell. They tag this as Naira abuse, and not just Naira, even foreign currencies.
00:23Recently we have seen notable people being arrested for such acts.
00:29Now we're going to be going down the street of Lagos asking people, can this act of spraying money in Nigerian parties actually stop based on the fact that EFCC now clamps down on this, tagging it Naira abuse.
00:44And according to them, if you spray money anyhow in the party, either Naira or dollar, you have actually abused the currency, which is against the law.
00:56We're going to be asking the people of Lagos what they feel and their opinion about this.
01:00Is it a wasteful heart or they feel it is a cultural attitude or tradition that might not be stopped evil by this recent clamp down by EFCC?
01:11It's not even normal. When they are getting married to their own mother, they are getting married to their own father, they are spreading a lot of money then.
01:29Even up to this moment, in their own party, they spend dollars, they spread dollars, they spread everything.
01:35I haven't heard, I haven't heard that this is Yabo Joe, this is a female Yoruba artist, on a daughter's wedding day, after the wedding day, they went back as well to go and arrest her.
01:47In the FCC, there is no one of them, they have an arrest her.
01:48In the FCC, where did they not arrest Yaya Belou, where did they not arrest Yaya Belou.
01:51Where did they not arrest Yaya Belou, where did they not arrest Yaya Belou, where did they arrest Yaya Belou.
01:55Where did they not arrest Yaya Belou, where did they arrest Obikubana.
01:56Although Gwen and the spray money throw bombs everywhere.
02:00So the Apatia, if you don't know anybody in this country, forget, Lord can't assist the poor people.
02:06If you are not connected to God, okay, let me give you one sample.
02:12if you want sample okay somebody is spray money they are arresting him somebody's holding
02:18lifeless hand and leg why can't you take one arrest that person and they're no
02:27to be candid with you it is a wasteful act because when you see people spraying money in the public
02:36invariably you are telling the youth that they must get money by all means you make people fear
02:43that without money you are not anybody and that we make people to go and look for money by all means
02:50unfortunately we have a faulty economy we have a faulty nation where money is everything
02:59and remember the bible said the love of money is the root of all evil so when people begin to look
03:06at people throwing money in the public it pushes them to want to get money by all means and that's
03:13why we are seeing more of ritualism ritual killing kidnapping and all that that you can see why
03:20because everybody want to compete everybody want to measure up so to me it is good to stop the idea
03:27of spraying money in the public you see my brother i have to tell you something some people did it and
03:33they were arrested and some people did it and they were not arrested remember in the country like
03:40i said we have a faulty country the law is meant for some people in our country is meant for some
03:47people there is something you will do now i am saying this maybe it will go on the air there is
03:52something you will do now as a sultan you will be arrested and you go to prison and no tana will do it
03:57and go free so what do you do you have to be very careful because it happened that i saw a nautana
04:04carrying dagger they carry gone all about and nothing is happening to them but you are sultan if you
04:09carry it that you go to prison so you have to be careful you have to know where you belong so that
04:15someone did it and he was allowed to go stop free it's not enough for you to do it so we have to be very
04:22careful knowing the country where we belong so evil is evil no matter who is doing it if you like let
04:28it be the presence the president that's ruling this country today if he does evil it is evil nobody may
04:34arrest him nobody will judge him but god in heaven will judge him well you call it abuse already so
04:41but i will not say it's an abuse if it is being regulated if the way they spray it like they do nowadays
04:48because they now arrest people for it nowadays they now spray it in a like in a bag so that is still
04:57like something like a regulation so if it's been regulated i don't see it as an abuse and it's a
05:03cultural thing it has been with us for a long time now so even the people that are arresting people
05:09for it today they've indulged in it before they've done it before nobody would say that they've never
05:15done it so i feel that some people are also being targeted then because of that now people are
05:22refraining from doing it and some are doing it quietly while some are doing it in bags so i feel
05:28it should be regulated it should not be cancelled let's not deceive ourselves it cannot stop because
05:33people will still be doing it but they can regulate it they can do it in a way that it will not turn to
05:38naira abuse yes you have heard it all from nigeria their opinion and view about this particular topic
05:45that we have asked earlier do you think the naira spending in nigerian parties is a cultural tradition
05:51that cannot be stopped or it is a wasteful hat that indeed justified the approach of the efcc the
05:59question remains that the disparities in the arrest is what is posing the question in the heart of many
06:06why is it that some set of people are targeted or been arrested allegedly while some are on the
06:12other way around are not arrested this remains the the the bone of contention in the minds of nigerians
06:19and i must tell you as it stands it is a a log ahead from what we have some people believe yes of course
06:26it is a wasteful hat why some people also see it as as a targeted means towards some set of people because
06:32we have seen some clips all right on the internet of some particular cell people doing the same thing
06:37and you know nothing has been done we are going to leave the rest to you down in the comment section
06:40let us have your opinion what you also think about this do you think that spending of naira or even
06:46dollars in nigerian parties can actually stop or do you see it as a wasteful hat of show of you know
06:53influence and half-lens that will be the size of our package today our guardian report i am oluka
06:57and we'll see you next time
