00:00Seeking recognition for an opening set, General Eddie from Florida.
00:04You are recognized for three minutes.
00:06Without objections to order.
00:07Thank you, Mr. Chairman, and thank you to all my colleagues.
00:11This is going to be a very, very long, well, possibly 36 hours.
00:17With that in mind, I think it's just important to lay out that we've heard a lot today in the last few hours
00:25that is not rooted in reality, because the facts tell a much different story.
00:32The posters that our colleagues on the left have held up are touching the stories.
00:38They're very emotional, and I agree that we want to protect those most vulnerable.
00:43As a pregnant woman, I want to make sure that pregnant women, expectant mothers,
00:48have access to resources around the country.
00:52Unfortunately, that's not happening in this situation.
00:59You know, I don't want to say that they're lying,
01:01but not a single person in those posters is going to be impacted by this legislation.
01:07Not one. Not one.
01:10And I encourage you to read the bill if you don't believe me.
01:13The facts are in black and white.
01:15I heard from one of my colleagues that there's just not enough waste, fraud, and abuse
01:19to reform the programs, to shore up resources.
01:23Well, I guess math is a problem, because I see 7.6 million different waste, fraud, and abuse cases.
01:321.4 million illegals that are currently on the rolls.
01:361.4.
01:381.2 million individuals who are ineligible.
01:42An ineligibility definition that they created.
01:45The left made that definition, and by their own definition, these individuals, 1.2 million of them,
01:52are ineligible for the program.
01:54And let us not forget the 4.8 million able-bodied adults, healthy adults, that choose not to work.
02:04They have no children.
02:05They have no dependents.
02:06They choose not to work.
02:09That's 7.6 million individuals, and not one of those were on those posters.
02:16We all agree we want to protect those most vulnerable in our communities.
02:19We want to protect the disabled.
02:21We want to protect pregnant women.
02:23We should not be diverting resources to those who make the choice not to work.
02:29That is something we can all agree on.
02:31So I think the facts tell a much different story than the fiction that is playing out,
02:37and we would all be in a better position to shore up these programs and protect them
02:42if we could just realize that there is fundamental flaws in the arguments of my colleagues on the left.
02:49So for the next 36 hours, we will continue to point out the flaws in their arguments.
02:54It's rooted in a motion, and that gets clicks.
02:58But right now, we have 7.6 million individuals who should never be on this program.
03:05They're ineligible by their own definitions, by their own standards,
03:08or they're in this country illegally, or they make the choice not to work.
03:13For those that need it most, we are protecting and fighting for them.
03:17That is what we are doing here today.
03:19Mr. Chairman, I yield.
03:19The new lady yields back.
03:21Mr. Chairman, I would like to enter into the record.
