00:00A single clubhouse goalkeeper. Since retiring from professional football, he spent 24 years

00:21donating his time to local charitable causes, most recently supporting three prostate cancer charities.

00:28Alan has shown remarkable courage in going public with his own diagnosis to try to ensure

00:34that some good will come out of it in the hope that it will inspire people to get tested

00:39for prostate cancer when they probably would not have done so otherwise. And this will take light.

00:47The City Council therefore believes that Alan Knight MBE's extraordinary achievements both

00:52on and off the pitch, justly deserving, being bestowed the highest award that the City Council

00:58can confer, the freedom of the City of Portemont. The Council now declares its thanks for the

01:04outstanding contribution Alan Knight MBE has made to the City of Portemont and its people,

01:10and in recognition he be formally admitted to this role of honouring the freedom of the City.
