A stay-at-home mom has shared how her inspiring journey to grow a side hustle business has seen her earn her thousands of dollars a month. After leaving her job as an accountant, Skye Phillips, 44, from Tolar, Texas, decided to tap into a skill she’d used years earlier, when her son was a toddler: cleaning and organizing homes. Skye revealed the experience made her realize everyone despised laundry, so she spent a year creating a business plan of how a remote laundry service could work. Having worked on the logistics – creating a website; whether to clean clothes at home or a local laundromat – Skye launched her business, Peachy Clean Mobile Laundry Service, on April 15, 2024, which is International Laundry Day. The 44-year-old spent the next month or so networking, both on the ground and on social media, and made $43.88 in her first month. But by January 2025, that figure had reached nearly $2500 for the month, and at the start of February she made nearly $1000 in 10 days. The inspiring mom shares videos on her business on social media, including timelapses of her work, explainers of her profits, and AMA sessions so other moms can follow her lead. As her business has grown so quickly, Skye is currently in the process of getting quotes to add more washing units in her home – and has even received offers for washers looking to work for her. For now, though, Skye plans to keep her operation a one-woman show, as she is pleased with the pace at which things are moving and believes her personal touches are what set her apart.

00:00We all have that one chore we dread, but for stay-at-home mom Skye, the never-ending laundry
00:06pile sparked an idea to earn thousands. I've been a stay-at-home mom now for eight years or so. I'm
00:13down to one kid at home, and he's proving to be rather expensive. So I was brainstorming just
00:19ways that maybe I could make money from home. I had a cleaning and organizing business 15 or so
00:27years ago, and the number one thing that my clients asked about when I did that was laundry.
00:33So I was like, well, what if I just offered a laundry service? This wasn't a spur-of-the-moment
00:39decision. Skye spent a full year planning. I actually watched a quite larger operation for
00:45the better part of six to eight months just to see how they charged, how their process worked.
00:50She meticulously figured out the business side, pricing, legal steps, and how to reach customers.
00:57Looking into how to start an LLC, how to properly insure myself, contacting every city that I
01:05serviced to see if I needed permits. And web design, that was pretty lengthy, but I was determined to do
01:12it myself. Peachy Clean Mobile Laundry Service officially launched on International Laundry Day.
01:17The start was humble, with $45 income the first month. I wasn't discouraged. I knew that it would be a slow
01:25start. But things soon began to spin. Word of mouth and Skye's personal touch propelled the business
01:32forward. In 10 months, every single month, the amount of income that we brought in has gone up.
01:38At one point, we had increased our profits by 600 percent in a very short amount of time. I actually
01:44just recently made a TikTok on clearing about $2,400 for the month, which I think is pretty exceptional,
01:50considering I don't put in 40 hours. I don't work full time. Demand is so high, expansion is already
01:58on the horizon. We have decided that because this has turned into such a lucrative business so quickly,
02:04that we are going to expand. But additional units here at the house, the fact that we're already,
02:10you know, making over $2,000 a month in a short amount of time is great. And I potentially see that
02:15that could even double. That's definitely on the radar very soon so I can push this to the next
02:20level. Skye isn't just running a business. She's building a community online, sharing her journey to
02:27inspire others. I thought that it might be interesting to make posts about what it really looks like start
02:34to finish. And I quickly realized that there were tons of other individuals who were obsessed with the
02:41idea. I would hope that that would motivate people to just take a chance on themselves and, you know,
02:46figure out a way to supplement their income, earn some fun money or change their entire lives.
