00:00stop oh they're life-size oh my god oh my god they're from the show and from life I'm like
00:11there's so many costumes going on oh my god literally my height hi I'm Lily Collins and
00:18this is life-size I well first of all I tomorrow Ralph Couture stunning I was very honored to
00:29get to wear this dress I we actually had been holding it for a while so I was grateful that
00:34they kept letting us hold the dress because it was in high demand I wore this to the BAFTAs this
00:39last year I remember first of all being very heavy this is all metal work which was so insanely
00:46stunning very heavy to wear but I was so excited too it's velvet it's got body on the side I mean
00:54everything about it was so stunning when I'm presenting an award like at the BAFTAs I never
00:58want to mispronounce someone's name and so in my brain I don't want to have that big moment when
01:04someone wins be tainted by the fact that I said their name wrong so there's a lot of rehearsals
01:09that go on before you actually step out on stage and then you like want to be professional but like
01:15kind of funny because you kind of want the audience to like pay attention and then you look down and
01:19you're like oh and then like Prince William is just sitting right there and like oh my god and you hope
01:25for a really good partner in crime and Coleman was so kind and so perfect and we both just like like
01:32we got this meanwhile all we're doing is going out and like giving someone a brilliant moment in their
01:38life and it's just like it's not about us it's about them oh things are heated on the phone this is
01:44clearly um season three because I have bangs we've got a mixture actually of of designers here I know
01:50that this was Gautier on top Celine underneath a vintage belt I believe don't quote me on that but
01:56I think it was Marilyn Fattusi our costume designer is so brilliant at mixing vintage and new and patterns
02:02and prints as you can tell she is so collaborative when it comes to transitions every season for Emily's
02:08style but also every character style always keeping in mind that Emily's bold and brave and not afraid to
02:14try new things but starting to I don't know draw inspiration from Sylvie and Camille and other
02:21people that are French in the city that she's seeing and pairing it with a black pant and not being
02:26afraid that there's not color on the bottom and kind of becoming a little bit less is more attitude but
02:32still Emily Emily no the genesis of the bangs was that I got bangs for the press tour for season two
02:47loved them so much and had been pitching that she had bangs didn't get them in season two but then got
02:52to do them for the press then I thought well now that I have them kind of have to have them for season
02:58three but then we had to work it into the storyline I thought well Emily's going through a bit of a
03:03crisis you know and what do I do when I'm trying to figure out something change my hair change my
03:08look and of course having Mindy involved you know made it even more organic and funny and being able to
03:16have that moment together was so wonderful because anything with Ashley Park is just sweeter but being
03:22able to have it be this I'm gonna just change my life and change my hair and I'm having a bit of a
03:28panic attack and an identity crisis but I'm gonna do it anyway and it's I'm fine I'm totally fine there
03:33are moments I miss the bangs I wasn't the best at like maintaining or drying them especially when
03:38you're working out and they get a little sweaty or that it's humid and they didn't always look the
03:43best I just felt kind of chic with them not kind of I felt very chic I felt very chic with them this
03:49is one of my all-time favorite things I've been able to wear this is Givenchy it's at the Met Gala
03:56Heavenly Bodies and Lilette made this amazing headpiece and this cross was a very last-minute
04:05addition we got Cartier to give us a cross because I thought well I want a prop I want something to
04:12hold and everyone was gonna have their own spin on how they took the theme and it was Fiona Styles my
04:18makeup artist idea to put the tear and Gregory Russell to do the headpiece and the I never look in the mirror
04:25when I'm working with them because I just say do what you want I trust you and so this entire look
04:31was born from the outfit and then it just like blossomed into this look that I was not expecting
04:36and it's hands down one of my favorite things I've ever been able to wear so I actually fit this outfit
04:43in Tokyo hours after I fit it I ended up at the hospital because I choked on a tomato which is a
04:49whole nother story which we don't have time for but you know the entire rest of the trip I had a tomato
04:54lodged in my throat for a few days so this look is season one at the Opera House it's one of my
05:01favorite moments from the first season and probably the show in general it's a Christian Siriano dress
05:07it was a moment for me where Emily wearing all black in season one was a real statement because
05:12there's nothing but color at the beginning of this show for her to go into this experience at the Opera
05:17house paired down was a choice that we all made together it also comes in the same episode as being
05:24called Rangard and you know basic bitch and it was her moment to go you know what I might be considered
05:30basic to you but here are the reasons why that's not a bad thing and why I'm actually very helpful and
05:35I'm very confident and really standing up for herself and to stand up for herself in a way that was
05:40outside of her comfort zone like I feel as if Emily would have normally had to throw on a bunch of
05:47color and a bunch of patterns and prints in order to feel herself and comfortable but this was so
05:51outside of that that to stand strong on her own said even more about her growth even in just one season
05:57it was also very much inspired by Audrey Hepburn with the hair and makeup which I do believe Emily
06:03Cooper revered and was inspired by just with posters on her wall you know it was like clueless sex in the
06:09city Audrey Hepburn and yeah I mean shooting at the Paris Opera house all night are you kidding me
06:15to be able to shoot at a location like this was so special also at the time I remember I was dating
06:21my now husband and he came to set and it was just one of those kind of magical nights where we ran around
06:25the Paris Opera house together which was really special this girl's not afraid to show a little skin
06:29this was the Paris premiere of season three wearing Saint Laurent I was very excited to wear this I
06:36loved this collection so much not gonna lie I was a little nervous I had to sticky tape this area very
06:43specifically it was also freezing winter time in Paris I just love this so much I I was feeling the
06:49bangs clearly I think it was the trip that we had done them right before and I was so excited it was a
06:55fresh new start brand new look and I think in this moment I was like I knew that it's the Emily I wanted to
07:01bring into season three so I felt like I was kind of channeling this new new vibe new era I loved the
07:08matching Cartier cuffs that were vintage they came with a guard who followed me all night long this is
07:14when Emily is at Sacre Coeur this dress is an iris app fell for H&M which it's really important on this
07:20show that we get to mix high and low and that we are inspired by things that are on runways and also in
07:28ready-to-wear and also in stores and so to make it accessible to everyone is really important
07:34Iris also designed another piece that I wore in this same season
07:40it was a purple outfit purple
07:42shrug and I remember messaging her on Instagram and she got back to me and we spoke a little bit about the show and about
07:50her work
07:51I was just always so inspired by her and she always made me laugh and I was so sad when she passed even for the
07:57small interaction we had it was so nice to have her work in the show it just made me smile it always made
08:04me smile and it's so easy to wear especially with these really chic fun high boots Emily's fashion in
08:10season four well we shot it in the winter fall and winter so that was really interesting this year to get
08:19to incorporate more coats and tights and boots hats scarves gloves you know all the things that we love to be cozy in
08:25but also remembering that Emily is very much about fashion I I love to be cozy and warm so this season we got to
08:32do that and you know we have like Christmas and things like that so just getting a new color palette in there as well
08:38Emily wears a lot more pantsuits this season which I'm very excited about because I think that shows a new form of confidence for her there's
08:46there's different color palettes like I said that we wear that I think I shied away from in other seasons and
08:52also just in general as Lily because I don't always think that colors work well with my fairer skin or I don't know it's
08:58it's been interesting to kind of experiment more with that so winter wear is in so she is in Saint-Tropez season two
09:06everything here is vintage which is this is one of the fun vintage moments that I love where they collaborate and
09:13throw together a bunch of different designers the gloves are by Seymour which is a company that Patricia
09:19found and actually had make a bunch of gloves made for this season and it kind of became the
09:25the accessory of the season for Emily and we'd throw them on every once in a while just to kind of like
09:30funk up an outfit and I actually think it works perfectly with this even though originally I was like
09:34Patricia do we do we need a glove in this moment she's just arrived in Saint-Tropez and she's like
09:38we need a little bit of an edge and whatever she says I was like okay I'm gonna lean in you guide the
09:43way this was Emily's um way of saying okay I'm I'm on vacation mode but I'm still gonna be working as
09:51always and she had a new color palette and kind of this French Riviera glam aesthetic that she wanted to
09:58go for so the scarf on the head felt very cinematic for this moment of getting off the train I have
10:06that wig I have the wig I remember when Gregory was like do we want to keep the wig I was like
10:15yeah because like why not but it's not the like I've ever worn it again I don't think I gave it back
10:20to you did I give it back to you no she's somewhere in a in a box somewhere this is a Jean-Baptiste
10:26Fully uh outfit for the Met Ball I do this series on Instagram after each Met Ball at the end of the
10:33night in a bathtub I remember this one being one of the harder ones to pose in a bathtub because this
10:38was massive I mean it really took up a lot of circumference and getting in and out of the bathtub
10:43was was quite difficult and the shoes were very high because this was very very long so my shoes were like
10:49monsters this is like a prime example of when Marilyn shows me all these hangers and then tells
10:58me it's all in one outfit and I'm I'm like what all this is gonna be in one look I mean the colors
11:03the patterns the textures the prints and then when you see it all together you go oh of course of course
11:08that makes sense in an outfit but that's when I put my hands up and go like I trust you I love you
11:12you guide the way it became to me one of my favorite outfits actually because it was so
11:17representative of Emily's personality and it started to be in that more I don't want to like
11:25overuse the word chic but that kind of slimmed down even just in the um the shape of the outfit having
11:31this coat on top of it having that primary color kind of surrounding and hugging all the patterns almost
11:38made it more digestible for someone looking at the screen so it's not just too overwhelming the
11:44mismatched earrings is something that Marilyn and I do all the time we had one outfit where I liked
11:51two different earrings so much and that we were like this one or this one this one or this one
11:57I was like god why can't we just wear both and she's like yeah why not and so they make no sense
12:04it's almost like two personalities where you'd be like oh talking here and then like talking here
12:07but it totally makes sense and so we started wearing one longer and one shorter in this season
12:14and then we started wearing drastically different shapes and sizes uh last season and then this season
12:19we do the same with a bit of a twist so I think that became a little ism of Emily's where it's like
12:26it's okay not to be symmetrical and perfect I found more of myself in Emily this season seeing Emily's
12:32confidence rise in her job and taking new risks in fashion new risks that some people might think
12:38are not as risky as her first ones that Emily is more risky so being more pared down and minimalistic
12:45is more risky to Emily and that's a little bit more closer to home for me so I'm excited for people to
12:50see the transition this season and I'm I'm proud of it and I did want to steal a lot of items but sadly I
12:56never get to I never get to well I hope you guys enjoyed being inundated with so many versions of
13:04of me all my sides of my personality um no truly I hope you enjoyed getting a look back at some of
13:10my favorite looks I know I did I'm constantly inspired by things I've worn and the designers
13:15I've been able to work with and my my glam team and of course my amazing Marilyn Fatusi costume designer
13:21family in Paris so it's been fun for me to look back and I hope it has been for you too
