Star India batsman Virat Kohli has announced his retirement from Test cricket. Kohli took to Instagram to inform about his decision. The right-handed batsman had earlier retired from T20Is after India’s title win in last year’s T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA. Having now retired from Test cricket, Kohli is now eligible for selection in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) only. The 36-year-old has played 123 Test matches and has scored 9230 runs averaging 46.85 with the bat. Kohli is known for his passion and on-field aggression, something that has impressed his fans. Having announced his retirement now, Kohli’s last Test innings was against Australia in the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at Sydney. He scored 17 and six in the first and second innings respectively in that match. In Tests, Kohli now finishes with 30 centuries, last of which came against Australia at Perth during BGT 2024-25.
