A spectacular opening day in Astana saw thrilling judo and multiple medals for Team Kazakhstan. Golds went to Hui, Saaev, Ballhaus, Abdulayev, and Mokdar, with local fans creating an electric atmosphere.

00:00Welcome to Kazakhstan for the first day of Judo at the 2025 Kazakhstan Barysi Grand Slam.
00:08Hosted in the martial arts palace, the event features some spectacular entertainment from
00:12local performers and was officially opened by President of the International Judo Federation,
00:21Mr. Marius Wieser, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Mr. Yermek Kosherbaev,
00:27and President of the Kazakhstan Judo Federation, Mr. Kwanshibek Yesikeyev.
00:32Local fans filled the arena in anticipation of what was to be an action-packed day of Judo.
00:38At under 48kg, Junior World Champion Xinran Hui showed her class with some incredible groundwork,
00:44forcing her opponent to submit and earning her the gold medal.
00:47IJF President Mr. Marius Wieser awarded the medals.
00:50Chairman of the Board of Directors of ERG, Mr. Shukrat Ibrahimov, awarded the prize money.
01:00At under 60kg, Iznar Saev took on home favourite Talgat Orinbasar,
01:06clinching the victory with a dynamic Kouchi attack.
01:09He was awarded his medal by Kazakhstan Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Yermek Kosherbaev.
01:21In the under 52kg, Masha Baalhaus of Germany fought Ayumi Laeva Sanchez of Spain.
01:27With the fight going into golden score, Baalhaus utilised a great change of direction,
01:31switching from her signature Uchimata to O Uchigari.
01:36Scoring a yuko, she earned Germany their first gold of the tournament.
01:41She was awarded her medal by IJF General Treasurer Mr. Nasser Altamini.
01:50The crowd was really cool, a nice atmosphere, lots of young people, I enjoyed it.
01:57The under 66kg final saw a perfectly timed footsweep from four-time Grand Slam winner Ramazan
02:05Abdullayev against Kazakhstan's Guzman Kyrgyzbaev. The medals were awarded by Kazakhstan
02:11Judo Federation President Mr. Kwanishbek Yesikeyev. At under 57kg, Faizan Mokdar of France
02:18met Momo Tamaoki of Japan in a high-energy final. It was Mokdar who took gold, with a Wazari from a
02:26well-executed Siatoshi. Harvest Group CEO Mr. Almaz Alcenov awarded the gold.
02:34There were more medals for the home nation, with bronzes for both Magzan Shamshidin
02:41and Aman Bakidzan in the under 60kg category, as well as a whole day filled with action-packed
02:48judo, keeping the fans on their feet.
