00:00A new survey by Okta Research has revealed a significant drop in the number of Filipinos

00:05who consider themselves poor. According to the April 2025 Togonang Masa survey,

00:11self-rated poverty fell to 42 percent or about 11.1 million Filipinos, down from 50 percent or

00:1713.2 million in November 2024. Those who consider themselves food poor also dropped the 35 percent

00:24or 9.2 million, compared to 49 percent or 12.9 million in November 2023. Self-rated hunger

00:32likewise decreased from 16 percent to 13 percent. The palace welcomed the positive development,

00:38noting it as a sign of progress and vowed to intensify its efforts to sustain the momentum

00:43and further reduce poverty in the country. The palace also noted President Ferdinand R.

00:48Marcus Jr.'s positive reception of the increase in the country's gross domestic product or GDP

00:54in the first quarter of the year, citing it as proof that ongoing economic measures

00:59are beginning to yield results.
