This silly parody song went viral, just as the artist who wrote the original song allegedly took his own life. RIP Wifiskeleton.

00:00How is this silly parody song connected with the death of a young creator?
00:04This Family Guy meme song is going viral right now,
00:06but it also has a morbid association that may surprise you.
00:09On May 1st, TikToker RexboxLive posted a video in which he sings a parody song
00:14from the perspective of Peter Griffin,
00:16song in a Peter Griffin impression, of course,
00:18and set to footage of the Family Guy character.
00:20It goes like this.
00:30The irreverent song, which goes on to have other verses
00:39from the perspective of other famous cartoon dads like Homer Simpson and Bob Belcher,
00:43gained over 4.8 million views in just five days.
00:46The full song was later posted to Rex's YouTube channel on May 5th.
00:49As it went viral, other creators started using it in their content,
00:53and it inspired all kinds of edits, lyric videos, and even covers.
01:00Some users would take whole lines from the song,
01:06abbreviate them, and claim it was new slang.
01:08So how did this silly song take a solemn turn?
01:11The song is a direct parody of a song by hyper-pop artist Wi-Fi Skeleton
01:15that was released in October of 2024.
01:24Right as the Family Guy parody version of the song was going viral,
01:28it was rumored that Wi-Fi Skeleton had passed away,
01:31allegedly having taken his own life.
01:32Adding to the eeriness of the whole situation,
01:35the title of his original song is
01:37Nope, You're Too Late, I Already Died.
01:39The news about Wi-Fi Skeleton's death
01:40was seemingly first shared on Discord
01:42by his fellow artist Witchbox on May 5th,
01:44just days after the Peter Griffin parody song had been uploaded.
01:47However, there's no indication that the two events are related.
01:50Hours before he allegedly took his life,
01:52the Atlanta-based 21-year-old artist,
01:54whose real name is Jeremiah,
01:55went live on Instagram where he hinted at what he was about to do.
01:58Finding out that Wi-Fi Skeleton passed away today genuinely is so upsetting
02:03because like, how did you guys not see the signs?
02:06Tributes to the underground artist have been pouring in on his Instagram page,
02:09like this one from magician Johnny Montia,
02:12who wrote,
02:12Skell, I love you so much.
02:14We literally just spoke and now you're gone.
02:16I couldn't shake the feeling after seeing the note you left.
02:18I hoped it didn't mean what I feared.
02:19Other reactions to the tragedy commented on the odd coincidence
02:23of the parody of his song going viral right at the end of his life,
02:26or expressed disappointment at having discovered his music,
02:29likely due to the viral parody song,
02:31only to hear news of his passing immediately after.
02:33What's up?
02:33I'm Wi-Fi Skeleton.
02:35I make music with cats and ponies.
02:37And I'm from Atlanta.
