Riley Green caught up with Billboard's Lyndsey Havens on the Winners Walk at the ACM Awards 2025.
Transcript
00:00Riley Greene, here we are.
00:01We talked to you on the carpet.
00:02Now you're holding a trophy.
00:03What's that feel like?
00:04On a different carpet.
00:05Well, I already had one when you talked to me earlier.
00:07They gave us a music video or something like that.
00:12No, this is awesome.
00:13I mean, I'm so happy for Ella.
00:14And I've been coming to these for a long time.
00:16And nights like tonight don't happen very often, you know?
00:20And so I hope she takes it in.
00:21And I know she's a hard worker and very talented.
00:25And I'm really lucky to have her on the road with me.
00:26So I think we'll, us along with the crowds, we'll sing them a little louder this weekend on the road.
00:31So you introduced Zach Topp during the show.
00:34You kind of reflected a little bit on one of your nominations.
00:37What was that like to just take a brief moment, think back on, you know, your own trajectory in this industry?
00:42Well, I remember when I won an ACM in 2020 for New Metal Artist of the Year.
00:46And it was a really big deal to me.
00:48But when I went back and looked at who all had won it before me, that's when I really, it set in.
00:52You know, you saw all these artists that have had amazing careers.
00:55And, you know, that's kind of what I like to recognize when somebody like Zach Topp, who I'm a huge fan of,
00:59obviously extremely talented and having a great moment.
01:02But to kind of take these moments in, you know, it's, like I said, it doesn't happen very often.
01:07So because you have been in the, you know, fortuitous spot of winning Best New Male Artist,
01:12Ella has now won Best New Female Artist.
01:14Did you have any words of wisdom for her?
01:17Yeah, she doesn't need any words of wisdom from me.
01:19She's got it figured out, it looks like.
01:21I do agree.
01:22What's the biggest thing that you notice changed, though, after a win like that,
01:25once you have that, like, stamp of approval of someone to keep an eye on?
01:29Well, it definitely means a lot.
01:30I mean, as a songwriter and an artist, you're always, you know, you want the appreciation or respect of your peers.
01:35Obviously, when you write a song and the fans sing it back, you know, they're buying into the music.
01:38But there's something different about this and something special about when you get recognized by all these other artists that you're a huge fan of.
01:46Well, thank you so much. Congratulations again.
01:49Have a good one.
01:50Appreciate it.
