00:00...on trade that my administration has been negotiating over the past four weeks.
00:05With this deal, the UK joins the United States in affirming that reciprocity and fairness
00:11is an essential and vital principle of international trade.
00:17The deal includes billions of dollars of increased market access for American exports,
00:23especially in agriculture, dramatically increasing access for American beef,
00:28ethanol, and virtually all of the products produced by our great farmers
00:34and our secretary, as you know, of agriculture is here.
00:37Brooke, thank you very much for being here.
00:39Thank you. It's a good day. Thank you, sir.
00:40You'll let the farmers know.
00:42In addition, the UK will reduce or eliminate numerous non-tariff barriers
00:47that unfairly discriminated against American products.
00:51But this is now turning out, I think, really to be a great deal for both countries
00:55because it'll be really great for the UK also.
00:58So they're opening up the country.
01:01Their country is a little closed, and we appreciate that.
01:05They'll also be fast-tracking American goods through their customs process,
01:09so our exports go to a very, very quick form of approval.
01:15And there won't be any red tape.
01:18Things are going to move very quickly both ways.
01:20The final details are being written up in the coming weeks.
01:23We'll have it all very conclusive, but the actual deal is a very conclusive one.
01:28We think just about everything's been approved.
01:31So good for both countries.
01:34And we'll also receive new market access for American chemicals, machinery,
01:38and many other industrial products that weren't allowed.
01:42And they'll end up getting products that they'll be able to price.
01:45And if they like them better and we make great products, they'll be buying those products.
01:49But they were not available in the UK.
01:52Furthermore, in a historic step, the deal includes plans that will bring the United Kingdom
01:58into the economic security alignment with the United States.
02:02That's the first of its kind.
02:04So we have a big economic security blanket, and that's very important.
02:08And we feel very, very comfortable with that because it's been a great ally,
02:13truly one of our great allies.
02:14I mean, a lot of people say our greatest ally.
02:17I don't want to insult people by saying that,
02:19but I can say it's certainly one of our greatest and right at the top.
02:23And they're the first one we're talking about.
02:25And by the way, we have many meetings planned today and tomorrow.
02:29And every country wants to be making deals.
02:33And we have a meeting, as you know, Scott will be going over to Switzerland on Saturday.
02:39And that'll be very, very interesting.
02:41Let's find out.
02:42But I think they want to make a deal very badly, too.
02:45Both countries have agreed that the economic security is national secured
02:49and we'll be working together as allies to ensure that we have a strong industrial base,
02:53appropriate export controls and protections for key technologies and industries like steel.
02:59Steel is a big factor.
03:01Both countries will become stronger with steel and things necessary for military.
03:05You know, we used to build ships and other things literally at a level that nobody's ever seen.
03:11And we haven't we've eased up.
03:14And I would say that the UK certainly eased up.
03:16But now we're going to be uneasing both.
03:18And we work together.
03:19Once again, I want to thank Prime Minister Starmer.
03:22He's been terrific for his partnership in this matter,
03:24the special relationship and external bond.
03:27It's really an external and an internal bond between our two countries.
03:31We'll soon be stronger than ever before.
03:34And we really do.
03:35We have a great relationship.
03:36I want to just say that the representatives of UK have been so professional.
03:41And it's been an honor doing business with all of them and in particular, the Prime Minister.
03:47And I'd like to introduce him now to say a few words.
03:50Mr. Prime Minister, please take it away.
03:55Thank you, Mr. President Donald.
03:57And this is a really fantastic historic day in which we can announce this deal between our two great countries.
04:06And I think it's a real tribute to the history that we have of working so closely together.
04:13Can I pay tribute, Donald, to your negotiating team as well, particularly Howard and Jameson,
04:18who've done an incredible job, a very professional job, and my team as well.
04:24Two negotiating teams have worked at Pace now for a number of weeks to bring in this deal today.
04:31Really important deal.
04:33This is going to boost trade between and across our countries.
04:37It's going to not only protect jobs but create jobs, opening market access.
04:43And as you say, Donald, the timing couldn't be more apt
04:47because not only was it 80 years ago today that victory came for Europe after and at the end of the Second World War,
05:00but of course on that day the UK and the US stood together as the closest of allies.
05:06And Donald, I think, even down to the hour, because you may or may not know,
05:12that it was about this time of day, exactly 80 years ago, that Winston Churchill announced victory in Europe.
05:22And that led to great celebrations across Europe, across America, but particularly in the United Kingdom.
05:30Literally people going out into the street, putting bunting up, going up to the palace.
05:36And so to be able to announce this great deal on the same day, 80 years forward, almost at the same hour,
05:47and as we were 80 years ago, with the UK and the US standing side by side,
05:53I think is incredibly important and makes this truly historic.
05:57That close relationship that's endured over those 80 years, as you know, Donald,
06:04when it comes to defence and security and intelligence sharing, of course,
06:08there are no two countries that are closer than our two countries.
06:11And now we take this into new and important territory by adding trade and the economy
06:17to the closeness of our relationship.
06:20It is built, as you say, on those notions of fairness and reciprocal arrangements.
06:27We've always had a fair and balanced arrangement between our countries.
06:30This builds on that, hugely important, for sectors like car manufacturing and for steel and aluminium and so many others.
06:40And yes, we can finish high out some of the details, but there's a fantastic platform here,
06:46including, of course, on the tech side, where I think I might say we're the only two Western countries
06:52with trillion-dollar sectors when it comes to tech.
06:56And in the end, it comes down to, as you say, Donald, incoming security is national security.
07:03On national security, we've been absolutely the closest of allies for so many years,
07:08keeping the peace through that close alliance, that friendship.
07:12And now we add to that, this deal on trade and the economy.
07:18And I want to thank you for your leadership on that, Donald,
07:22and for the way in which your team have negotiated this.
07:26And I'm so pleased that we've got this deal, we've finalised it,
07:31and we've built an incredible platform for the future.
07:36So, thank you so much, Donald. I'm now going to go and do a press conference.
07:41I think you have your press in with you.
07:44But on the details, I think if you've got Howard,
07:47we can deal with that through one of my team.
07:52That's great. Well, Mr. Prime Minister, thank you very much.
07:55It's an honour. We're going to have a continued, maybe a better relationship than ever before.
08:00You know, I don't know if the media knows, but the U.S. and U.K. have been working for years
08:06to try and make a deal.
08:09It never quite got there.
08:10Yeah.
08:10It did with this Prime Minister. So, I want to just congratulate you.
08:14Well, with this President, this Prime Minister, we've managed to achieve
08:17what many people have tried to achieve for many years.
08:20That's right.
08:20And I'm really pleased.
08:22And it feels completely historic and on a special 80-year anniversary as well.
08:28So, Donald, thank you so much. It's really good to have got this deal over the line.
08:34Tribute to both teams. Tribute to our countries. And tribute to your leadership.
08:38Thank you. Well, it really is a great thing.
08:40And you go do your press conference and I'll see you soon. Maybe speak to you later.
08:44But thank you very much.
08:46Yeah.
08:46And an incredible thing.
08:47I can't tell you that for so many years, even as I sat, everybody talked and talked and talked about a deal with
08:53It just seemed like a natural deal. But it was not done. But now it was done with us.
08:58So, I feel very proud to have been a part of it.
09:01Keir, thank you very much.
09:04Thanks, Donald. And we'll speak again soon.
09:06Very good. So long. Bye.
09:07Thank you very much.
09:15Thank you very much.
09:15What a...
