00:00Birmingham World Correspondent Charlie Haffenden has outlined his opinion that Aston Villa have had a productive season in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League as they look to qualify for Europe again.
00:12It's incredible. When he took over from Steven Gerrard, they were down right in the relegation battle.
00:18He then got them up into top half contention, got them to the European Conference League, then the Champions League, then to go to the last eight of the Champions League and very nearly turn things around against PSG.
00:28After that 3-1 defeat at the Parc de France, that victory at Villa Park was just incredible.
00:33The noise within the stadium, the belief that they could just go on to bigger and better things and try and replicate the heroics of the early 1980s.
00:42Not quite happening in the end. FA Cup semi-final, disappointment at Wembley.
00:47There's so much frustration from fans because Villa going into the games against Man City as well as a huge six-pointer for the Champions League race in the Premier League and then the game against Palace at Wembley.
00:55They were the best form team in the entirety of Europe over the last ten matches, but they did manage to fall away at the key moments, unfortunately.
01:03So, as you say, so much incredible achievements this season, but they won't have a trophy to show for it.
01:11And Haffenden also made clear just how Wolves have had a renaissance under new manager Vito Pereira, following him taking charge of the club after the sacking of Gary O'Neill.
01:22It's incredible, yeah. That six wins on the trot, I think, just encapsulates the success he's had so far.
01:29Reaching double figures for wins. Gary O'Neill could only get two in 16 games at the start of the season.
01:35It was appalling. Defensively, terrible as well.
01:38I know that Emmanuel Ipadu wasn't there when Gary O'Neill was, so you can maybe make that argument.
01:44But it's not just one player. It's the entire squad that just looks completely galvanised.
01:50The rise, the confidence, the togetherness within the squad.
01:53I know you've still got Matthias Cunha getting sent off against Bournemouth.
01:57Not ideal. A bit hot-headed. But in terms of the general squad, the feel, there's a bit less frustration.
02:02The connection with the fans is being built back up again.
02:05I know we had that under O'Neill briefly when he was performing well initially.
02:09I'm hoping that doesn't fall away for Pereira like it did O'Neill, but I don't think it will.
