00:00Good afternoon from Murrayfield Stadium, where we're here to take in the announcement for the 2025 Lions squad.
00:11The Scottish contingent stands at eight after Andy Farrell's group of players was announced about half an hour ago.
00:20The Scots are going to Australia.
00:23Xander Fagersen, the prop, second row, Scott Cummings, standoff in Russell, no surprise there.
00:30Centres, Hugh Jones and Sione Chupolotu.
00:33Winger, Dujan Van de Mermer, another prop, another Edinburgh prop, Pierre Schumann and Toulouse full-back, Blair Kinghorn.
00:42I'd say that all eight were expected to be named in the squad.
00:46Maybe one big omission being Darcy Graham, the Edinburgh winger, who many feel should be in the Lions squad, given how nimble and rapid he is.
00:57He misses out, unfortunately.
00:58Other ones that probably might have a chance, Edinburgh's Jamie Ritchie, the flanker, hasn't made it.
01:05And Scrum have Ben White, who had a good Six Nations but doesn't play often enough for too long.
01:09He is also omitted.
01:11Lions captain is Mauro Itoji.
01:13No surprise there, that was heavily trailed beforehand.
01:17And the Scots' contingent of eight, still one short of the record, which is nine, but you've got to think that a few of those players will be in contention to play in the test team.
01:26We're here at Murrayfield to speak to the Edinburgh players who have been selected.
01:30Pierre Schumann and Duhan Van de Mermer are en route.
01:32My colleague Graham Bean is over at Scottson, where there'll be a heavy Glasgow contingent headed up by a Serie A.
01:37who, of course, has been missing for the past few months with a pectoral injury.
01:41It'll be fascinating to see what he and the rest of the Lions Scots will say after what will be a milestone moment in their careers today.
01:50We'll have all the reaction, comment, interviews and analysis on thescotsman.com later on.
