00:00Welcome to Genius Game.
00:13Congratulations.
00:14You have passed the test.
00:16Genius Game.
00:17You are one of 11 players.
00:21All with exceptional qualities.
00:24Okay.
00:27Hmm.
00:28Genius Game requires intelligence, lateral thinking, and the power of persuasion.
00:34Let's give this a go.
00:36G-E-N-I-U.
00:39Inside this puzzle box is a garnet, the currency, if you like, in our game.
00:43G-E-M-E.
00:50Oh.
00:51Okay.
00:51It's worth 1,000 pounds.
00:54This is yours to start the game with.
00:56And there are many more where that came from.
00:59You just need to win them.
01:01They can also be used for bargaining and negotiation.
01:04Okay, there we go.
01:05You will take part in a series of mind-bending games, but each day, one of you will be eliminated.
01:18And it will all happen here in Genius Game, where you'll outsmart each other for a cash prize.
01:24Alliances will be built and broken, friendships forged and destroyed, because only one genius can leave victorious.
01:37You're about to experience some beautiful defeats and ugly victories.
01:50Hello.
02:01Oh, hi.
02:04Everybody is here for a reason.
02:06Everybody has been picked as a potential winner of the Genius Game.
02:10Are you guys?
02:10So we all have some kind of genius quality that brings us around that table today.
02:15Well, this is interesting, isn't it?
02:17I'm excited.
02:18Are you?
02:19Yeah.
02:19Really excited.
02:22Hello, guys.
02:23Hi.
02:24Hiya.
02:25What's up?
02:25Hiya.
02:25Paul.
02:26Paul, hi.
02:27Hello.
02:27Hi, Indy.
02:28Bex, nice to meet you.
02:30I'm Charlotte.
02:31Nice to meet you.
02:31Charlotte, how are you?
02:32Nice to meet you.
02:32You can't win this game alone.
02:35This game really is just as much about sociability as it is about strategy.
02:40Are you all quite into games then?
02:42Yeah.
02:43I like escape rooms.
02:44Escape rooms are fine.
02:45They're good fun.
02:47I like Monopoly.
02:48Monopoly.
02:48I don't even know how to play that.
02:50Really?
02:50Scrabble?
02:50You don't know how to play Monopoly in your head.
02:53Wow.
02:54Wow.
02:55I applied for Gay Love Island, so I don't know what the hell I'm doing here.
02:58So I'm a lecturer at Sussex Uni.
03:03I did my PhD at UCLA.
03:06My teaching is on negotiations.
03:08You have to play people as well as the game, and I think I'm probably really good at that.
03:13But the goal would always be to work with people to execute a strategy, because you can't
03:19win this game alone.
03:20What about you, Charlotte?
03:22I just finished my postgrad in biotechnology at Cambridge.
03:25Took a year out, was working, and then I'm going to start my PhD.
03:29It's great.
03:31I think there's many aspects when it comes to being a genius.
03:35When there are other people that make your brain work hard, then it makes me excited.
03:41I have got no fear.
03:43I'm the one you should keep your eyes on.
03:46Hello, players.
03:47Oh, my God.
03:51Look at all the people standing around you.
03:53Every single one of them is brilliantly smart, competitive, and tactical.
03:58Which means, unless there's been some terrible mistake, you must be too.
04:02You're going to need to work with each other to be successful in the game.
04:06But ultimately, only one of you will win.
04:10But how can I be that winner, I hear you ask?
04:12Well, each day, you will play in a main match and a death match.
04:17The main match, that's a group game.
04:20If you win it, you are safe, as you will receive a token of life.
04:23And you get to choose another player to save.
04:26But if you lose, you will be the death match candidate.
04:29And you get to choose another player to be your opponent.
04:32The loser of that game will be going home.
04:36And no one wants to be the first to go home.
04:39Am I right, guys?
04:41Yeah.
04:43Now, if you have any questions during these games, please, ask my dealers.
04:48And if you at home have got any questions, don't worry.
04:52All will become clear when you see these clever people play.
04:56Who's the smartest person in the room?
04:59Who's going to be your ally through this?
05:01Who's likely to betray you?
05:03It's always the quiet ones.
05:05I'll give you a few more minutes to get to know each other,
05:08and I'll be back when it's time to play the first main match.
05:14That is bonkers.
05:16How exciting.
05:17It feels so real nice.
05:18The lieutenant.
05:21What do you do, Alice?
05:21You look familiar for some reason.
05:23I don't know why.
05:23I'm a crime writer.
05:24Oh!
05:26Jessica Fletcher.
05:29So I'm training to become a GP.
05:31Same as me.
05:32Are you?
05:32You two seem too smart for this.
05:36What about you, Ken?
05:38I'm a stand-up comedian.
05:40What?
05:40No way.
05:41I did not see that.
05:42Most comedians, though, are very, very highly intelligent, aren't they?
05:45Uh, yes, I'm up.
05:47Yeah.
05:48I'm in science.
05:49What kind of science?
05:50Forensic science.
05:51Forensic science.
05:52Okay.
05:54Being a genius is more than just being the best at a thing.
05:58It's knowing when to be the best and when not to be the best.
06:02And I think a crucial part of this game will be knowing when not to set your head up above
06:06the parapet too often.
06:07Wow.
06:08Everyone's so accomplished.
06:09What do you do, Andy?
06:10I'm the second year uni student.
06:12I study economics and philosophy, so.
06:14Nice.
06:14I studied economics as well.
06:15Did you?
06:16Yeah.
06:16Oh, sweet.
06:17And I play a lot of poker on the side, so.
06:18Oh, okay.
06:19There we go.
06:20Yeah.
06:20Core drop.
06:22I'm also a poker player.
06:23Oh, okay.
06:24Really?
06:24Poker and chess.
06:24Nice.
06:26I have a business studies degree.
06:28I'm retired.
06:29But when I was working, I was global sales director for a big international company.
06:33I think my extensive business experience with a lot of people in different countries, different
06:39cultures, will be a key advantage in the game.
06:42I knew there'd be poker players.
06:44I won an over-50s competition in Monte Carlo.
06:46About six years ago.
06:47Oh, very James Bond.
06:49Yeah.
06:49I work for NASA.
06:51Oh, wow.
06:51I'm a space scientist.
06:54You work for freaking NASA.
06:56I'm joking.
06:56I don't work for NASA.
06:57I just wanted to join in.
07:01I don't have any academic qualifications.
07:04I have my GCSEs.
07:05I have my 100 meters in swimming.
07:08And to be honest, that's about it.
07:09But I'm a managing director of my own business.
07:12I'm pretty good at selling people stuff.
07:14So if I need to sell a version of myself, then that is what I will do.
07:18And I think that's where I might excel.
07:21From what we've talked about so far, there's different strengths, isn't there, around the
07:25room.
07:25So we need to think about when we know what the game is.
07:28Who should lead on those.
07:29Yes.
07:30Yeah, I agree.
07:31Yeah, we should have a rule, guys, by the way.
07:33These games are for fun.
07:34So nothing's personal.
07:40Right.
07:41I'm sure you've been called lots of things in your lives.
07:43Gifted, genius, smarty pants.
07:46What about criminal mastermind?
07:50Because we're kicking things off with a robbery.
07:52Players, your first main match is gold heist.
07:58In this game, players can attempt to steal from one of three vaults.
08:03Vault A contains five bags of money, each worth one million pounds.
08:08Vault B contains three gold bars, each worth three million pounds.
08:15Vault C contains one gold crown, worth ten million pounds.
08:19At the end of each round, each player will enter the dealer room and reveal in secret if
08:24they are going to steal from a vault.
08:27A player will gain the cash value for any item they successfully steal.
08:32However, if the number of players attempting to steal from a vault exceeds the number of items,
08:38these players will be sent to jail, where they will remain for the next round.
08:47Once all players have been into the dealer room, the number of items successfully stolen from each vault is revealed.
08:53But the identity of the thieves is hidden.
08:57Players' wealth is also not revealed.
08:59There are four rounds in total.
09:03The player with the most money at the end of the game will be the main match winner and receive two tokens of life,
09:09giving them immunity from the deathmatch.
09:12The player with the least money will be the deathmatch candidate.
09:17The winner will receive one garnet.
09:20If you steal at least 15 million pounds, you will get one garnet.
09:24And if you steal at least 20 million pounds, you will get two garnets.
09:30Rob wisely, gather knowledge.
09:32Information is key.
09:35OK.
09:36There is certain safety to not going into a heist because at least you don't risk going to jail.
09:41At least that means that those people then can go in for the next heist if they want to.
09:46And we could play fairly and do that.
09:50The only other issue about playing fairly is that there's, what, 96 million, which doesn't split into 11.
09:58So there won't be a way of doing it like we can all come at us when it's...
10:03This is where the alliances comes in.
10:05You can't play it as an entire group.
10:07We're going to have to split up.
10:08Players, there is one more thing you'll need to factor in.
10:11A tip-off.
10:13During the game, players may also choose to submit one tip-off.
10:18If you accurately predict a player and the vault that that player steals from, their heist will fail.
10:26And the caught player will go to jail for the next round.
10:29I see you all as my Ocean's Eleven.
10:32Except without George Clooney.
10:34Or any of them, to be honest with you.
10:38Your first main match will start soon.
10:43Oh, tricky, tricky, tricky.
10:46So there are 11 of us players.
10:47Only nine of us can actually come out with anything valuable.
10:51If too many of us select the same item, we'll get thrown into jail,
10:54which means we cannot get anything for that round and the next round.
10:57So information is very important in this game.
11:00If you tell somebody what you're going to go for, you're also risking that somebody tips you off.
11:04And if somebody tips us off for what we're trying to steal, we go to jail and don't get anything for two rounds.
11:08And so I don't know who I can trust.
11:16Round one of Goldheist will now begin.
11:19Let's go, let's spread.
11:23Yeah, I guess so.
11:24Oh, Ben's off.
11:25Ben's off.
11:25Let's just split up.
11:27Just naturally split.
11:31Right, Ben.
11:33Shall we all take a seat?
11:34Ben, just...
11:35Everyone's gone to rooms.
11:37Oh, they've all went to rooms?
11:38Yeah.
11:40Oh.
11:40Oh, hello.
11:44I have a strategy that can work for six people.
11:46Okay.
11:47You have a strategy that works for six people?
11:48Yeah.
11:49Okay.
11:50It would mean we target one person.
11:52I don't want to give away to everybody what my strategy is.
11:55It's going to involve people being isolated.
11:58Obviously, if I can team up with five people, we can come up with a strategy of ensuring that we all get money
12:02and that certain players don't get money.
12:03I think it's the only way to do it.
12:04It's a strategy that guarantees all of us to not be a loser, basically.
12:08Okay.
12:09That's good.
12:10Should we all go in the same room and see what's going on?
12:12Yeah, I kind of want to know...
12:13No, no.
12:14I wouldn't do that.
12:15Why?
12:15The time will go and you'll do...
12:18Let's just understand the rules and possible strategies first, right?
12:20Paul's got a strategy.
12:21Oh, you have a strategy?
12:22Yeah.
12:23Well, no, there's some options, right?
12:25So, in theory, nine people could get 10 million.
12:28Four take a 10, you take three three times and a one, right?
12:32Just believe me.
12:3310 million, which would get nine people each a garden.
12:37But you have to get 15 million to get a garden.
12:38I thought you had to get 10.
12:39No, 15.
12:40Oh, shit.
12:41Okay, forget that then.
12:42But, um...
12:47I'm just going to go see what I'm saying.
12:49I'm just literally going to go see what they're saying.
12:51I'm curious as well.
12:51I just don't want to get left out of some bigger group thing.
12:54If we separate ourselves, they won't trust us.
12:56The pod doesn't know what's going on.
12:58I think I might get into a different room because it feels difficult.
13:12I don't think we can work in as big of a group.
13:15Yeah, it's too much.
13:16I think we need to split up a little bit.
13:18One more come with us, guys.
13:19You can't sit too far.
13:21I can go.
13:22Okay.
13:23Wait, what?
13:23Sorry about that.
13:24See you on the other side.
13:25Okay.
13:26What, are you all sticking around in here?
13:27Yeah, just for a little bit.
13:28The clock is about ten minutes.
13:31Definitely not.
13:31Can we finish our conversation and then come to you after?
13:34Yeah, sure.
13:35Thank you, guys.
13:38Oh, that's hard.
13:40We've been booted out.
13:43My strategy was get a team that's the majority,
13:45and that's gone out the window now.
13:47I know.
13:48Are we going to trust them?
13:49Yeah, you got it.
13:50They're going to be a fish...
13:51Okay.
13:51Feeding for information.
13:52Okay, look, I have an idea.
13:54I wasn't going to say this because if it's quite early to, like,
13:57be a bit aggressive, they've just kicked us out of the room,
14:00and now I'm nervous.
14:01Let's say Scott just happens to go to jail from that team
14:04in the first round.
14:05All it would take is three of us to put a tip-off on each
14:07of the three vaults, and we doom them into last place.
14:10So my strategy is we can make sure that one of them is going
14:13to be last place if we use our tip-offs.
14:15Benjamin's potential strategy revolves around targeting one player
14:19with the tip-offs and blocking them from getting any money.
14:23Three people use their tip-off on the same player across vaults A,
14:27B and C.
14:29So unless that player abstains from heisting,
14:32they will go to jail and miss the following round.
14:35When they are released from jail in round three,
14:38three more players strike again,
14:40using their tip-offs on the targeted player.
14:42If they heist, they go to jail again for the final round
14:46and finish the game penniless.
14:48I think the first question to answer is,
14:54because it determines our strategies,
14:56if we were them, what would we do?
14:58All right?
14:58There's six of them.
14:59It's three minutes.
15:01What?
15:01Oh, shit.
15:02I'd say we go one person gold crown,
15:04two person gold bars,
15:05three of us go for the money bags.
15:06One thing I'll say is maybe we should only have one person go for the gold bars,
15:09because I think they might send quite a few people to gold bars.
15:12That means four of us would have to go for the money bags.
15:14Or abstain.
15:15I'm happy to abstain this round.
15:16From what I could see and what I could hear from India,
15:18from Ken, from Amanfe and from Pasha,
15:21they all seem like they'd be good strategists and game players.
15:23We'll both go for the cash.
15:24You go for the gold bar.
15:25You go for the crown.
15:26Crown.
15:26And Charlotte.
15:27She's seen as trustworthy.
15:28Shall we go in?
15:29Let's go in and pretend to see what they're doing.
15:31This is a ruthless team,
15:32and I need a ruthless team to win this game.
15:34Pretend we don't have a strategy
15:35and just go in and try and be friendly,
15:37because we did just feel like I was...
15:38I'll show my plan to them.
15:40Yeah, show your plan to them.
15:41I'm a doctor.
15:42I'm very good at coming across trustworthy.
15:45I think I have one of those faces and demeanours
15:48which comes across harmless.
15:52So if we all tip off...
15:54Paul.
15:55But we have to save three.
15:56We have to save three.
15:57But we don't know.
15:58Yes.
15:58We could tip off on them all.
16:01All six on one.
16:04I have a plan that might work for all of us.
16:07Potentially.
16:09Sorry, how do we know we can trust you?
16:10That works for everyone.
16:11We've got two minutes.
16:13You guys kicked us out,
16:14and now we only have two minutes.
16:15So I think...
16:16I'm offended.
16:18So the point is that if we pick three people in our group
16:21to not heist the first time round...
16:23One minute, it comes down to...
16:25Why did you guys need to come up with that plan
16:26with the five of us out of the room
16:28if it involves everybody?
16:29She's waffling to make it seem like we have a very loose, pretty shit pan.
16:33She is so good at it.
16:35Yeah.
16:35It's crazy.
16:36I'm not going to lie.
16:37We've got 40 seconds, and I'm not quite sure what our plan is.
16:39Exactly.
16:40Yeah, I don't either.
16:41Can we, uh...
16:41I'll be honest.
16:42Please return to the atrium.
16:47Oh, we don't have enough time.
16:48We don't have enough time.
16:50I've written nothing so far
16:51because there was no time to write down my plan,
16:54thanks to Paul's ramblings.
16:57Players, time's up for round one.
16:59Please make your decision in the dealer room.
17:01Oh, nice.
17:15Wow, wow, wow, wow.
17:16Time to do some heisting.
17:18Well, please tell me if you're planning to stage a heist.
17:21I do not.
17:22I abstain.
17:23The reason why is because I want to see where people are going for the first round.
17:27Don't want to be in jail.
17:28Please tell me if you're planning to stage a heist.
17:33I would like to open Vault B for a gold bar.
17:38Paul, I don't actually know what I'm meant to be doing.
17:40No, neither do I.
17:42There was no plan.
17:43And you...
17:44They were faffing around too much.
17:45Ben dominated the conversation too much.
17:47OK.
17:48We'll save each other.
17:49OK.
17:50Yeah.
17:51He is top of my radar of cannot trust.
17:54I would like to sit this one out.
17:55If I sit this one out, I can act next go.
18:00Vault B, I'd like to steal a gold bar because I want to take a more direct amount of risk
18:04and hopefully pick up some gold whilst I'm at it.
18:07Damn.
18:09I have zero plan.
18:10Paul doesn't know the rules of the game and he's very insistent on telling everybody what
18:14to do.
18:14I'm really annoyed.
18:15In terms of odds, the least likelihood of going to jail is to choose Vault A and a bag
18:22of one million.
18:22I then get at least something on the board.
18:25I'm going to haste Vault A.
18:27I'm going to open back.
18:28How are you feeling?
18:29I don't like that we got kicked out of that room.
18:32No, it wasn't getting kicked out.
18:33It's just there's only so much room.
18:35Vault C, the crown, please.
18:37It's the first round, which means it's probably the least likely for other people to go for
18:44it.
18:44If I successfully get it, I think it can keep me out of the death match.
18:47And I can try and get 15 million and then get another Garnet.
18:50I'm going to abstain.
18:52Right now, it's more important surviving to the second round than it is to get money.
18:56Vault A, one million pounds bag.
19:00Vault A for the money bags.
19:02It's low risk.
19:03I would like a one million pound bag of gold from Vault A, please.
19:06I wanted to work with Scott and Indy this game, and I got stuck in the minority with
19:09Paul.
19:10Paul, who doesn't understand the rules to the game, yet barks orders at people who he's
19:13supposedly trying to work with.
19:15I can't work with Paul anymore.
19:16Please tell me if you plan to step off.
19:20I'm going to...
19:22I would like to tip off.
19:24I would like to tip off.
19:25I would like to tip off.
19:29Here are the results.
19:31I hope not going to jail.
19:35Goodness.
19:36Four money bags were stolen.
19:44Two gold bars were stolen.
19:48Hmm.
19:48Interesting.
19:50Interesting.
19:52One crown was stolen.
19:55Wow.
19:56The following players were unsuccessful in their heists, and will now go to jail.
20:06The following players were unsuccessful in their heists, and will now go to jail.
20:28Oh!
20:28Just you, Paul.
20:29That's crazy.
20:30Sorry, I don't understand.
20:41Did you go for the ten?
20:41No, I went for one.
20:43Huh?
20:43Somebody tipped you off.
20:46I just instinctively, intuitively know he's a saboteur, so I cannot trust him.
20:52Somebody tipped you off on me.
20:53Oh, no.
20:54It wasn't me.
20:54I can't believe it.
20:56Paul, you must spend the next round in jail.
21:01Oh, no!
21:02I can't believe that.
21:04There's absolutely no way I tipped you off, Paul.
21:11Target me.
21:12Buggers.
21:13The players can't see this, but here's where the money went in round one.
21:20Charlotte's taken a huge step towards an extra garnet and immunity.
21:24Let's reset the vaults.
21:27We will now begin round two.
21:30Oh, gosh.
21:31This is pressure, eh?
21:32Right, then.
21:33Let's go.
21:33Heading down here.
21:36I already have the crown.
21:37I get another one.
21:38No one can beat me.
21:41It's risky, though.
21:41Damn it.
21:44There's no bet in this jail, either.
21:47Damn it.
21:51I vote for Charlotte to get the ten.
21:54If Charlotte gets the ten, because she got nothing in the first round.
21:56At least she gets the ten this round, and then...
21:58Did you get nothing in the first round?
21:59I got one.
22:00My main aim here is to beg Charlotte up.
22:02She got the ten million in round one.
22:04If Charlotte can win the game, she will reward me with the immunity.
22:07Either Scott or Monty has the crown.
22:09Let's keep it.
22:09Let's keep it.
22:10You know, it's a game.
22:11It's a game.
22:11I don't care who has the crown.
22:12I'm just answering the question.
22:13Other people now, they're just focused on not losing.
22:16They just need to ensure that they're above zero to make sure they don't go into the death
22:20match.
22:20You've got the crown, haven't you?
22:26I don't.
22:27I promise you, I don't.
22:27You actually don't?
22:28I don't.
22:30Right now, I'm thinking about the alliances and who you can trust.
22:34And these alliances are going to break down.
22:36So I need someone I can trust.
22:38And I want that to be you.
22:40Okay.
22:40But not just this game.
22:41Throughout all the games.
22:42Bex is very honest from what I've seen.
22:44At the end of the day, only two people can end up in the final.
22:47This game is all about alliances.
22:49And if you have an alliance, more than two people, it's going to crumble.
22:52Someone's going to have to be betrayed.
22:54And throughout the games, we put ourselves first.
22:56We put each other second.
22:57Okay.
22:57And everyone else is below us.
22:59Okay.
23:00So...
23:00It's a big move on game one.
23:01My full process is, have someone on the inside you can trust at all times.
23:07Okay.
23:07So if I'm abstaining and pausing deals, name players playing.
23:10And if we all have a set plan, everyone gets money.
23:12It's just work.
23:13Well, very transparent this time.
23:15So we agreed that between the ten of us, nine of us would go for the remaining prizes.
23:20The five money bags, the three gold bars, and the one crown.
23:23And one would abstain.
23:24And just everyone would get money.
23:26The Dahlia, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm going for the three gold bars.
23:29I hope everyone sticks to that.
23:31Please make your decision in the dealer room.
23:41Hello.
23:42Hello.
23:43Please tell me if you're planning to stage a heist.
23:45I would like to steal one million pound bag of gold from vault A, please.
23:51I would like to steal a bag of money from vault A.
23:54I would like to go for vault B for the three million pound bar.
23:57I'm going to go vault A and I'm going to take a million bag.
24:00Fingers crossed.
24:02Vault A for the one million bags.
24:05Vault A for a bag of money.
24:09Hello.
24:10Hello.
24:11Ready to heist.
24:13I'd like to go to B and steal a gold bar.
24:17I do not plan to stage a heist.
24:18Can I ask what vault and which item you'd like to steal?
24:21I would say the crown.
24:23To stay in the lead.
24:24Please tell me if you're planning to stage a heist.
24:27I want to go for free.
24:29Thank you, Manfie.
24:30You can leave the dealer room.
24:33Here are the results.
24:34It would be crazy to have a try here.
24:36It would be all this as well.
24:37Five bags of money were stolen.
24:46Three gold bars were stolen.
24:48Three bars done.
24:49Okay.
24:53One crown was stolen.
24:55Everyone's trustworthy then.
24:56Here's where the money went after round two.
25:00Charlotte is now on 20 million after she stole the crown for a second time.
25:04After abstaining in round one,
25:06Amanfie, Bedalia and Ken have stolen 3 million each,
25:09leaving Paul alone on zero.
25:14You coming out now?
25:17Oh, welcome back, Paul.
25:19Come and catch up.
25:21Yay.
25:23Are they being genuine or are they not?
25:25I found them.
25:26They used three tip-offs.
25:27They tip me off on all three.
25:28Then I'm back in jail.
25:31I know it.
25:32I'm doomed unless I abstain.
25:34It depends whether they're ruthless enough.
25:37They should be.
25:38Because that's the game.
25:40We will now begin round three.
25:42I think you should either get a three or a ten.
25:45So you're at least not at the bottom.
25:48If I'm on the three, I'll be done.
25:49Yeah.
25:50So it's like ten or just like accept the death match.
25:53They said I was going for ten because they're going to tip me off.
25:56I didn't trust them.
25:57One of them will tip me off.
25:58Two long odds.
25:59Is anyone else going for a three?
26:00I would like to go for a three.
26:02I would like to go for a three.
26:03I've only got a one.
26:04Okay, it's only fair that he gets a three.
26:06Because I abstained last time, I'd quite like a three.
26:08Ten.
26:10Okay.
26:10I don't mind Paul going for ten.
26:11So my only chance to tip off, knowing Scott, is going for three.
26:17And that leaves Scott vulnerable in the last round.
26:22Paul.
26:23Paul.
26:30Everyone's blowing smoke up your ass.
26:32Yeah?
26:32Everyone's blowing smoke up your ass.
26:33I know they are.
26:33My suspicious mind is telling me the group of six that started the game in that room,
26:39they've got a plan all along.
26:40They're acting like they're going to give you the crown,
26:42but I don't know if they are going to give you the crown.
26:44And what makes you think that?
26:45They're not telling the truth.
26:46It's just up to you whether you want to go for it this round or abstain and try to go for it next round.
26:51I'm just going to go for the ten.
26:53That's my only chance, sir.
26:54Yeah.
26:55Go for the ten.
26:55I'm not working with Paul at all.
26:58I'm pretending to work with Paul so he doesn't pick me for the deathmatch.
27:01I'm just wanting him to pick the people from the other team who screwed him.
27:04Paul should never realise that I want to end in the deathmatch.
27:08I don't like what's happening.
27:10How he's been put as a sacrificial lamb straight away.
27:13But there's only so much I can do as an individual in the game.
27:17You OK?
27:18Stay.
27:19Hey?
27:19Stay.
27:20Round three is over.
27:22OK.
27:22Please make your decision in the dealer room.
27:34Please tell me if you plan to stage a heist.
27:36I do plan to stage a heist and that would be for vault A for the £1 million bag.
27:42I would like to steal a £3 million gold bar from vault B, please.
27:47Please tell me if you plan to stage a heist.
27:48No, I don't.
27:49I would like to go for the £1 million bag of money from vault A, please.
27:55I'm going to go for vault B and I'm going to go for a £3 million bar.
27:58I would like to go to vault A and take one money bag.
28:02I do plan to stage a heist on A.
28:05Please tell me if you plan to stage a heist.
28:08No, I don't plan to stage a heist.
28:10I do not plan to stage a heist.
28:12I feel like there may be at least one tip-off that's thrown coming my way and I'd rather
28:16not risk it.
28:17I'd like to tip off Scott from Scotland from vault B.
28:22Please tell me if you plan to stage a heist.
28:26I'm praying and that Paul abstains.
28:29If he abstains, at least he has a chance to come back.
28:31If he goes to prison, he's definitely in a death match.
28:34I'd like to steal the crown for £10 million from vault C.
28:40I want to get a Garnet by the end of this game, potentially two.
28:43To do that, I need to have £10 million this round and I need to tip off that Paul is going
28:48for vault C as well.
28:50I'm hoping that this tip is obsolete.
28:54Thank you, I'm on for you, me.
28:55Leave the dealer room.
29:01Here are the results.
29:04Four money bags were stolen.
29:15Two gold bars were stolen.
29:17Oh.
29:18Oh.
29:20It's interesting.
29:22Oh, no.
29:24It's going to be available.
29:25I know what happened.
29:27I think three people went for the crown.
29:29I think people are going to jail.
29:34One crown was stolen.
29:42Oh, wait.
29:42Oh, it's gone.
29:43It's gone.
29:44But there was only one person got it.
29:45So someone got the crown?
29:48So no one's in jail?
29:49No, someone's got to be in jail.
29:53Unfortunately, that's who it is.
29:55The following players were unsuccessful in their heists and will now go to jail.
30:04What?
30:14The following players were unsuccessful in their heists and will now go to jail.
30:19Paul.
30:24Oh.
30:25Oh.
30:27But I thought you said you were going to abstain.
30:30Or go for the ten.
30:34Paul, you must return to jail for the final round.
30:37Maybe I should have abstained and gone on the last round.
30:39Yeah.
30:40Now look, I'm doomed.
30:43I am doomed.
30:44I'm going to think about who to take into the deathmatch and why.
30:48There's some scheming going on there, right?
30:51Sad.
30:52Half the players are only really trying to build empathy with me to avoid the deathmatch.
30:59Heading into the final round, only Charlotte or Amamfi can now win.
31:04Paul is destined for the deathmatch.
31:08Good luck in the final round.
31:11I'll tell you, this is Scott's lie.
31:13He said he was going for three.
31:14I tipped him off, but he hasn't been sent to jail, so he didn't go for three.
31:19I thought Paul was going to tip it off.
31:20Oh, OK.
31:21There was too much risk involved.
31:22If I went for it and it set me off, because he was going for a three, he knew three people
31:25were going for threes.
31:26So the only reason he could have gone for it is if he was tipping off to me.
31:29Oh, that's why those damn make sense.
31:31As far as I can see it, there's no way out for Paul.
31:33He's going to deathmatch.
31:34Who he chooses is a different scenario and a different problem.
31:37For me, I'm hoping I can trust Charlotte to give me that immunity, so it's not a problem
31:41for me.
31:42My teammates, they may not have thought about this yet.
31:45I didn't make them aware of the risk, but that's on them.
31:47I don't trust nobody now.
31:56I've got my eyes on a single person who I want to get out of the competition.
32:01OK, later.
32:03Right now, they are vulnerable, so there's potential for them to be in the deathmatch.
32:07She's ambitious and I see this sort of foxy energy about her, which I just want to get
32:28her out of the game quickly.
32:30I hope he trusts me and trusts the direction I'm trying to lead him in.
32:35Pasha is playing games.
32:38They don't trust each other anymore.
32:40This is just a smidgen of hope.
32:42Can I talk to Paul alone, actually?
32:43I know it's hard.
32:45Can we kind of sneak into a corner?
32:47OK, that's dodging.
32:48Yeah.
32:49That's dodging.
32:50No, I'm not here.
32:51I'm staying here.
32:52You should have abstained.
32:54Yes.
32:55You did tell me.
32:57Who targeted me?
32:58I can't say that.
32:59But you knew I was targeted, sir.
33:01I knew you were targeted and I tried to get you out.
33:02I mean, it doesn't affect the game at all.
33:05It doesn't.
33:05I'm just wondering why.
33:07I think you've just got to watch him because he's trying to divert the deathmatch attention
33:11away from himself.
33:13What you need to do is think about who the best player for you to take out is right now.
33:19Who do you think is the right player to take out?
33:21I don't want to throw anyone under the bus, but...
33:24Alice.
33:27He's just adjusted someone.
33:29The reason I say that is because it's the only person here that hasn't been vocal.
33:35And Mampy, what are you doing?
33:36I'm basically just trying to get on Paul's good side.
33:39What I'm doing is really risky.
33:41I need to make sure that I'm not the only target on his list.
33:43Players, the round is over.
33:46They used six tip-offs.
33:50It's just obvious.
33:52Wasn't it, Scott and Charlotte?
33:56Scott used the mastermind behind him.
34:0060 minutes earlier.
34:03If three of us use our tip-offs to guarantee one person can't go and vault A, vault B or vault C,
34:09the only way that would fail is if they choose not to heist.
34:12If they choose to heist, we're guaranteed to put them in jail.
34:14So they're out of round one, they're out of round two because they can't heist.
34:18Round three, the other three people pick the same person,
34:21and that's the way they can't earn money in round three or round four.
34:25So this way this person ends the game with zero.
34:27I'm happy to go for Paul because he's the only person who said take nothing personally.
34:31Yeah.
34:32I'm going to tip off Paul for vault A.
34:35Paul for vault B.
34:36Paul for vault C.
34:38Paul.
34:38Paul.
34:39Paul.
34:39Guys, you've got to watch these two.
34:44They are not trustworthy.
34:51Please make your decision in the dealer room.
35:01Hello?
35:02Please tell me if you plan to stage a heist.
35:05Nah, I abstain.
35:06Just giving up this life of crime doesn't pay.
35:10The problem is I can't get to 15 or 20 million at this point to get more garnets.
35:15I'm just chilling this game.
35:16I might talk to Paul more in prison.
35:18I think I'm trying to talk to him as much as possible so he doesn't pick me.
35:21I think I'm screwed.
35:22I think I'm going to a death match.
35:23You can still win a death match.
35:24Oh, it's 50-50.
35:25Yeah.
35:26Yeah.
35:27Who do you think you're going to pick?
35:28No idea yet.
35:29I do not plan to stage a heist.
35:31Someone's lost the game.
35:33Whether I'm on one or two or four doesn't make a difference.
35:35I'm abstaining.
35:37I plan to raid vault B for a gold bar.
35:41Vault A, one million pound bag.
35:44Hello, dealer.
35:45Hello.
35:46Please tell me if you plan to stage a heist.
35:48I think that in the final round I should go for the crown.
35:53The reason is that I'm currently on five million and if I can somehow use my tip-offs correctly
35:58and be the only one trying to snatch the crown, then I will snatch the crown and get an extra garnet with 15 million.
36:03I do plan a heist on vault C.
36:06I'm going to try and steal the crown.
36:09Please tell me if you plan to stage a heist.
36:12I'm so sorry.
36:18Yes, I'm going for vault C, the crown.
36:25I have to protect my position.
36:27If Amanthi wins, it leaves me open for the deathmatch and I'm a little afraid of the deathmatch.
36:33I'm going to stage a heist.
36:35What vault and which item would you like to steal?
36:38Let's go with vault B and a three million pound gold bar.
36:42I would like to heist three million pounds gold bar from vault B, please.
36:48I would also like to tip off Amanthi.
36:56I think he's going to go for the ten million pounds in vault C.
37:00He was feeding Paul information to divert attention away from himself and his original team members.
37:06The game is now over.
37:12Here are the results.
37:17I'm so sorry.
37:19I'm so sorry.
37:21I just...
37:22Scott, I'll explain it.
37:27After Paul was like, you have to watch out for Scott and Charlotte, I just knew I had to keep my lead,
37:31which meant I went for the crown knowing I wasn't getting it.
37:34I went for the crown to put us all in jail.
37:36So that I would still win.
37:49One bag of money was stolen.
37:52I don't think I've got the crown.
37:55You don't?
37:56Yes.
37:57All right, I'm going to explain.
37:58OK.
38:03Three gold bars were stolen.
38:06Please don't be there.
38:09Please don't be there.
38:18The crown was not stolen.
38:21Oh, God.
38:22OK.
38:23Thank God.
38:24Oh, thank God.
38:25What?
38:26I think we're going to jail.
38:27Oh, God.
38:37Ben.
38:38Ben.
38:38Of course I would try to go for the crown.
38:41As there are no more rounds, these three will escape serving their sentences, and Paul, you may leave the jail.
38:47Yes.
38:48Thank you, Ben.
38:48The winner of the first main match is Charlotte.
38:56The only good thing about winning is that now people know that there is this slightly cunning side.
39:11The death match candidate is Paul.
39:20Oh, no, not Paul.
39:24Oh.
39:25I'm frustrated that I haven't had a chance at the game yet.
39:27It's the way some games are.
39:28As the main match winner, Charlotte, you have gained two tokens of life and one garnet.
39:35As you earned 20 million...
39:37Oh, they're right here.
39:40Well done, Charlotte.
39:41...you will also be awarded an additional two garnets.
39:45A Manfey who earned 16 million will also be rewarded one additional garnet.
39:52Charlotte, please decide who you will give immunity to.
39:55Ooh.
39:58I think I've formed an alliance with Charlotte.
40:00I'm hoping that that alliance is strong on both ends.
40:04My only concern is that she may have seen me as a threat.
40:07I feel uneasy.
40:09I'm thinking of the different scenarios.
40:11I have to protect myself.
40:14I'm going to give immunity to...
40:16Charlotte, please decide who you will give immunity to.
40:39I'm going to give immunity to...
40:46Scott.
40:51Yeah.
40:55The plan works.
40:59Everything went exactly as I had imagined.
41:02Put it on you.
41:02I live to fit another day.
41:04Massive thanks to Charlotte, because without her, I would definitely be in the deathmatch for Paul.
41:09I'm so relieved.
41:10Because I messed up.
41:12I'm going to give this to you.
41:13I've just given away £1,000 in the form of a garnet.
41:18Because I ruined her chances of getting another one.
41:21Yeah.
41:21Paul, please pick someone to join you in the deathmatch who does not have a token of life.
41:36I think you need to look at everyone.
41:38Yeah, I will.
41:39I will.
41:39I have an additional garnet.
41:45I knew that I was going to be one of Paul's options.
41:48And to help me, Charlotte was so kind as to give me a garnet, which I could use to barter with Paul.
41:54If you choose someone else to go to the deathmatch, I will give you this garnet tomorrow in the next game.
42:00So you're offering me a garnet to not choose you?
42:02Yes.
42:04I'll do the same after you.
42:06Amanphi and India, they are playing a dirty game at this point.
42:11India's bartering with a garnet that is not even hers.
42:14I'm petrified that Paul's going to pick me.
42:16I've got another way of looking at it.
42:18Go on, then.
42:19Which of these three do you think would be more likely to betray you in a future game?
42:24Who said things about their own team and the other team?
42:28Don't trust Medallia.
42:28It looks like he's playing a bit of a puppet master with Paul, making that comment.
42:32I don't know what he's thinking.
42:33Who do I think I have the best chance against?
42:35That's true.
42:43The time has come.
42:49I would like to take...
42:52Pasha to the deathmatch.
42:57Sorry, Pasha.
42:58I've got it that my strategy didn't work to lead Paul onto picking India.
43:11I might have shown myself and my weaknesses.
43:15When everybody had entered the atrium, she just kept saying, I don't know anything about games.
43:21So I just went for the best chance to win.
43:23Your first deathmatch is same or different.
43:27It's a bit like spot the difference, only it's spot the same as well as spot the difference.
43:32And do you know what else I can spot?
43:33A BAFTA winning explanation.
43:35I'll take my trophy now, thanks.
43:36Here we go.
43:38In this game, players will attempt to find sets of three pictures to win points.
43:42In each round, players will be faced with a grid of nine pictures.
43:47These pictures have three properties.
43:50The first is shape.
43:51Circle, square or triangle.
43:54The second is shape colour.
43:57Blue, red or yellow.
43:59The third is background colour.
44:02White, black or grey.
44:04In every round, players must find three pictures that form a set.
44:08A set is where every property of the three pictures is either the same or different.
44:14For example, here, the shapes are all the same.
44:18The colours of the shapes are all different.
44:20And the background colours are all the same.
44:22They form a set.
44:24However, in this example, the shape colours are all different.
44:29The background colours are all the same.
44:31But the shapes consist of two squares and one triangle.
44:35As there are only two properties that are all the same or differing, this is not a set.
44:41Players have ten seconds to answer on their turn.
44:45If a player spots a set, they gain one point.
44:50If they are incorrect, they lose one point.
44:55When a player believes there are no sets remaining, they may call complete.
44:59If they are correct, they score three points.
45:02However, if there are sets remaining, they will lose one point.
45:08If play passes for six turns without either player giving an answer, then the round is over.
45:13The player with the most points after five rounds will be the winner of the deathmatch.
45:18And their opponent will be eliminated.
45:22The deathmatch will begin shortly.
45:28That's a tough game.
45:29So, I didn't understand the rules fully.
45:32I'm very happy about the deathmatch.
45:34This is more of a logic game and that plays to my strengths.
45:37You have to find three properties that are same.
45:41So, either the property either has to be all the same or all different, but you can't have a mix and match.
45:45Being a doctor means, yes, you do have to think on your feet and act quickly, but it's usually not competing with another person.
45:53He's got years of experience on me, but I am going to give my everything to try and win this deathmatch.
46:01I do not want to go home.
46:02I am glad it's not me.
46:19I think she's really nervous.
46:21It's incredibly difficult to focus.
46:24I feel like I'm going into an exam.
46:25It's going to be really interesting if he wins, because he's going to have loads of garnets.
46:34And he's going to be presumably not too happy about sitting in jail all the game.
46:41I'm not feeling nervous at all.
46:43I will be determined to win the deathmatch.
46:45I want to go and play some more games.
46:47Some revenge would be nice, wouldn't it?
46:49Best of luck to both players.
46:53Deathmatch will now begin.
46:55OK, the race is on.
47:04We will now reveal the picture for round one.
