00:00There are two kinds of folks who sit around thinking about how to kill people, psychopaths and mystery writers.
00:05I'm the kind that pays better. Who am I?
00:07I'm Rick Castle.
00:08Castle.
00:09Castle.
00:10I really am ruggedly handsome, aren't I?
00:12Every writer needs inspiration, and I've found mine.
00:14Detective Kate Beckett. Beckett. Beckett. Nicky Heath.
00:17The character he's basing on you.
00:18And thanks to my friendship with the mayor, I get to be on her case.
00:21I'd be happy to let you spank me.
00:23And together we catch killers.
00:25Make a pretty good team, you know, like Starsky and Hutch.
00:27Turner and Hooch.
00:28You do remind me a little of Hoot.
00:30Sophie?
00:31Sophie, are you in there?
00:33Sophie, the procession starts in 15 minutes.
00:36If that girl ruins your wedding.
00:38I'm not worried about the wedding, Mother. I'm worried about Sophie.
00:41If I had as much champagne as she did last night, I'd probably be late for February.
00:46Oh, hey, can you open this door for us? It's an emergency, please.
00:55Sophie?
00:56Sophie?
00:57The bed hasn't been slept in.
01:04She's not in the bathroom.
01:05Go and see if her dress is still here.
01:15Make sure it's nice and tight.
01:18Yes, sir.
01:19What on earth are you two doing?
01:21Research.
01:22Dad has Nikki Heat duct taped to a chair in his next chapter and he doesn't know how to get her out of it.
01:27I thought what better way to figure it out than to get into the mind of my character.
01:30I don't know. I suppose you could just use your imagination.
01:34I want it to be authentic.
01:36Hands.
01:38Well, hurry taping up your father. We don't want to be late.
01:42Oh God, I can't believe I just said that.
01:44Where are you two off to?
01:45Graham's got a dress rehearsal. I thought I'd go watch.
01:47Watch me or watch the adorable delivery boy in the second act.
01:51Too tight?
01:54Perfect.
01:55And you're sure about your mouth?
01:57Like I said, authentic.
02:03Not if you're okay.
02:05Okay, we're off. And after, we might go shopping.
02:07So...
02:10You don't mind, right?
02:13Oh, come on, Dad. We both know you'd have no respect for me if I didn't.
02:16Have fun. And good luck.
02:18Aha. I don't know where she gets it from. Honestly, I don't.
02:22Bye.
02:23Adios.
02:37Victim is Sophie Ronson. 35. She's in from L.A. for the wedding.
02:50Was she a guest?
02:52Bridesmaid.
02:55Bride came looking when Miss Ronson didn't show up for her hair and makeup.
02:59Got her stuffed in that armoire.
03:02What do you see?
03:04Preliminary cause is asphyxiation.
03:05And from the way her windpipe is crushed, I'd say the killer choked her from behind.
03:10You've got contusions on her throat.
03:12One of her earrings is missing.
03:14It looks like it was yanked from her lobe.
03:17We searched the room. The earrings not here.
03:19Get CSU to print out a picture so that uniforms can start searching the hotel.
03:23Yeah.
03:24Time of death?
03:26Based on temperature and lividity, I'd say between 3 and 5 a.m. this morning.
03:31Mm-hmm.
03:32Let's talk to hotel security. I want to see surveillance tapes
03:33and a list of all registered hotel guests.
03:36And get records for her room phone under cell.
03:38I'm on it.
03:39The hotel says only one keycard was issued to the victim.
03:41It was last used to enter the victim's room at 3.18 a.m.
03:44Okay, well that coincides with time of death.
03:46Where are the bride and groom?
03:47Bridal suite at the end of the hall.
03:49Uh, Greg and Kira.
03:50Okay, have uniforms assemble the wedding guests in the bar to be interviewed.
03:53Which castle?
03:54I don't know.
03:55Figured the death of a bridesmaid would be right up his alley.
03:57Heard wedding and probably got cold feet.
03:59Hmm.
04:00Hmm.
04:01Hmm.
04:02Hmm.
04:03Hmm.
04:04Hmm.
04:05Hmm.
04:06Hmm.
04:07Hmm.
04:08Hmm.
04:09Hmm.
04:10Hmm.
04:11Hmm.
04:12Hmm.
04:13Hmm.
04:14Hmm.
04:15Hmm.
04:16Hmm.
04:17Hmm.
04:18When was the last time that you saw Sophie?
04:19At the rehearsal dinner last night.
04:20I don't even think I talked to her.
04:21She came all this way for us and I don't think I even said hello.
04:24It's not your fault, Kira.
04:25It was a crazy day.
04:26Did you talk to her after I went up to bed?
04:27No.
04:28You know how Uncle Ted is.
04:29He wouldn't let me leave without doing tequila shots.
04:30I escaped up to my room around 1.
04:32I'm not sure if Sophie was still at the bar.
04:33The two of you weren't in the same room.
04:34I don't know.
04:35I don't know.
04:36I don't know.
04:37I don't know.
04:38I don't know.
04:39I don't know.
04:40I don't know.
04:41I don't know.
04:42I don't know.
04:43I don't know.
04:44I don't know.
04:45I don't know.
04:49I don't know.
04:50It's bad luck to see the bride before the wedding.
04:54Is there anything else you can tell me about Sophie?
04:57Was she in a relationship?
04:59Did she have any enemies?
05:00I don't know.
05:01She lived in L.A. and we were never super close.
05:06Sophie introduced us.
05:07She's the reason we're together.
05:09So when we were planning the wedding, we thought she should be there.
05:12But the engagement party was the first time we'd seen her in a couple of years.
05:16Now she's dead.
05:18Who would do something like this?
05:21That's what we're here to find out.
05:23Here you go.
05:24Thanks, Joe.
05:25That's great.
05:26Hotel security?
05:28Yeah.
05:29They do background checks on all their employees.
05:31Seemed pretty sure there wasn't a killer among them, but he gave me the list.
05:34He's also pulling the surveillance tapes.
05:36Good news is the elevators are all wired.
05:38Bad news is the stairwells and hallways aren't.
05:41Hello.
05:42Look who it is.
05:43You're about to send out a search party.
05:44Where you been?
05:45I got a little tied up with work.
05:47Which way to the crime scene?
05:48Sixth floor.
05:50Mm-hmm.
05:51Hey, bro.
05:52Is that duct tape on your pants?
05:57Yes.
05:58Yes, it is.
06:02So, bridesmaid, huh?
06:04What happened?
06:05Get caught dead in that dress?
06:07Actually, not that bad.
06:08A subtle mauve chiffon.
06:10Dude, really?
06:11Mauve?
06:12What?
06:13I have sisters.
06:14She's seen their dresses.
06:15Hideous.
06:16Bridesmaid dresses are supposed to be hideous.
06:17Really?
06:18Why?
06:19So that the bride looks more beautiful in comparison.
06:20Ah, see?
06:21Not a woman alive who doesn't think about her wedding day.
06:24Not even Kate Beckett.
06:25Tell me you never tore a picture of a wedding gown out of a magazine.
06:28I've never torn a picture of a wedding gown out of a magazine.
06:33You're lying.
06:34She's lying.
06:35Mm-hmm.
06:44So who's the unlucky bride?
06:46Uh, the name is...
06:49Kira?
06:51Rick?
06:52Rick Castle.
06:53You two know each other?
06:54That would be an understatement.
06:58I read somewhere that you were working with the police, but I never would have expected
07:17to...
07:18How long has it been?
07:19Too long.
07:20You look exactly the same.
07:23And you've improved.
07:25You always did know how to turn a phrase.
07:30This is...
07:32so surreal.
07:33It's my wedding day, and you...
07:36show up.
07:40Casalini's got something for us.
07:41I'll catch up.
07:45Hmm.
07:46Okay.
07:47What'd you find?
07:48Once I turned her over, I saw these abrasions across her upper back.
07:57They were definitely made before she died.
07:58Probably during the struggle.
07:59Any idea what made them?
08:00No, but there's an odd shape to the wounds.
08:02I'll have a better idea once I get her back to the lab.
08:04Okay.
08:05So how's everything going in the bridal suite?
08:07Not the day they had planned.
08:08Yeah, or the surprise guest.
08:10Apparently Castle has a history with the bride.
08:13Ancient, modern, or sexual?
08:15Seems like all of the above.
08:17You're okay with that?
08:18Yeah.
08:19Why wouldn't I be?
08:20Just keep me posting on the labs.
08:23Mm-hmm.
08:24So, what happened to the girl who said that marriage was a Jurassic institution?
08:30She grew up.
08:31Hmm.
08:32Does that mean the groom is a grown-up too, all work and no play?
08:35No.
08:36He plays just enough.
08:38He's a lucky man.
08:39Except today.
08:41All the things you worry about going wrong at your wedding.
08:47Sorry.
08:48Hey, honey.
08:50Greg.
08:51This is Rick Castle.
08:54Rick Castle.
08:55Your ex.
08:57Oh, yes.
08:59No.
09:00Nice to meet you.
09:01Rick's working with the police now.
09:03Do they think the murder's still in the hotel?
09:06Well, that depends on whether the attack was random or someone she knew.
09:09So, you think one of the guests could have killed her?
09:12We have to consider every possibility.
09:13You'll have to excuse us.
09:15We have people arriving downstairs.
09:17Of course.
09:24Keira Blaine.
09:26Wow.
09:29I take it she was someone very special.
09:32She's the one that got away.
09:34Could you please tell me your name and relationship to the bride and groom?
09:37Sheila Blaine.
09:38Mother of the bride.
09:39Keith Murphy.
09:40I'm the brother of the groom.
09:42Lori Hill.
09:43Maid of honor.
09:44Friend of the bride.
09:45Ted Murphy.
09:46Broom's uncle.
09:47Ruby Osiris Schwartzman.
09:48I was once married to Keira's father's brother's uncle.
09:50Twice removed and boy was that a mistake.
09:52Is the bar open yet?
09:53Do you have any idea who might have killed her?
09:55Of course not.
09:56No.
09:57No.
09:58No.
09:59I heard that Sophie almost didn't come to the wedding.
10:01She called Keira up and tried to back out of being a bridesmaid.
10:04But then she called and said she changed her mind.
10:06I warned Keira.
10:07That girl was too unreliable to be put in a wedding party.
10:10But did she listen to me?
10:11No.
10:12Thank you very much.
10:13Next.
10:14Is everyone right?
10:15I think so.
10:16Wait.
10:17There's a groomsman that's not checked off.
10:19Mike White?
10:20Hmm.
10:21I didn't talk to him.
10:23You?
10:24No.
10:25Mr. Murphy.
10:26Have you seen Mike White's?
10:29No.
10:30Actually.
10:31Has anybody seen Mike?
10:32Oh God.
10:33He was with Sophie at the rehearsal dinner.
10:34She's right.
10:35I saw them together in the bar after.
10:37You don't think something happened to him too, do you?
10:39None of the guests have seen Mike since last night.
10:42We checked his room.
10:43The bed's made.
10:44His tux is still hanging in the closet.
10:46And his key card shows his last entry at 2 a.m.
10:482 a.m.
10:49All right.
10:50Any signs of foul play?
10:51No, but his toothbrush and bags are still there.
10:53Have hotel security start searching the premises.
10:55You think we're gonna find another body?
10:57More likely, Mike's our killer.
10:58And he ran off after strangling Sophie.
11:00So put an APB out, get Mike's photos to all airports and train stations.
11:04I'll check back with a wedding guest to see if I can get a clear picture of Mike and Sophie's interactions.
11:08Okay, thank you.
11:10Or we could watch last night's festivities for ourselves
11:15on these handy-dandy digital video cameras.
11:21There we are, running for our lives, all right?
11:23That's Mike giving the speech.
11:24Has that too much to drink?
11:25And that's Sophie looking away from us.
11:27Serpentine down the hall.
11:29And that's when, that's when Keith decides he's gonna slow him down a little bit.
11:34So he cuts fire extinguisher.
11:36But he doesn't...
11:37I think they called her in a speech.
11:38Right?
11:39Rude.
11:40I wonder who she's talking to.
11:43Pause that.
11:46Does anyone else find it odd that Sophie would leave in the middle of Mike's speech?
11:49Maybe whoever called wanted to meet.
11:50Yeah, but who?
11:51Everyone at the rehearsal dinner is sitting in that room.
11:52According to the time code, that call came in at about 741.
11:54Sophie's cell phone history shows the call came from hotel lobby.
12:09Check with the hotel.
12:10See if they have any security cameras covering the phones.
12:13That's perfect.
12:14Thanks.
12:15Wait a minute.
12:16I know this guy.
12:17Uh, Gamble.
12:18Boyd Gamble.
12:19So he's a dealer?
12:20Mostly weed and coke back in the day.
12:21Did a couple years for assaulting another drug dealer who was trying to muscle in on his turf.
12:23Beat him up real bad too.
12:24Sounds like he's got a bad temper.
12:25Maybe he's graduated to murder.
12:26Great, go pick him up.
12:27Was that about Mike?
12:28Uh, no.
12:29Just following up on a lead.
12:30No.
12:31No.
12:32No.
12:33No.
12:34No.
12:35No.
12:36No.
12:37No.
12:38No.
12:39No.
12:40No.
12:41No.
12:42No.
12:43No.
12:44No.
12:45No.
12:46No, no.
12:47No.
12:48No.
12:49No.
12:50No.
12:51No.
12:52No.
12:53No.
12:54No.
12:55No.
12:56Your dress is lovely, by the way.
13:00Oh, thank you so much.
13:02It's Kate, right?
13:04Yeah.
13:04I feel like I know you a little.
13:06From Nikki Heat, the dedication.
13:08Oh.
13:08I still read all of Rick's books.
13:11Yeah, well, most of that book is just a result of Castle's overactive imagination.
13:17It's funny that you call him that.
13:20Castle.
13:21When I know him, he was just Rick.
13:24Rush off his first bestseller.
13:26Well, overactive imagination or not, I know he only dedicates his books to people he really cares for.
13:41Murder?
13:42What are you, nuts?
13:43We know you met Sophie at the hotel, boy.
13:45A couple hours later, she turns up dead.
13:47You want to tell us how that happened?
13:49She met me in the park.
13:51We had a mutual acquaintance who recommended my services.
13:53She knew I could get her what she needed.
13:54Why didn't you just sell her the drugs and be done with it?
13:57Why did you show up at the hotel?
13:58Because she needed a specialty item.
14:01I didn't have any on me, so I told her I'd call her when I did.
14:03What specialty item?
14:08Flunitrazapam.
14:10Roofies.
14:10Why would a bridesmaid need roofies?
14:14You want to take advantage of a guy knocking him unconscious?
14:16It kind of defeats the purpose.
14:18Best way?
14:19Just ask.
14:20I'll take care of it for you.
14:22Hello, Sheila.
14:24Richard.
14:26Figures you'd be at the heart of this mess.
14:28Detective Beckett, this is Sheila Blaine, mother of the bride.
14:32So, I guess I didn't end up homeless or teaching at a third-rate college in New Hampshire after all.
14:36There's still time.
14:38I've missed our special talks.
14:41Sheila didn't approve of struggling artists.
14:44You must like Greg, though.
14:45He's from money, right?
14:46It was never about the money, Richard.
14:48It was about character.
14:50And you would know that if you had any.
14:55Wow.
14:55Just imagine, if things had worked out, you'd be spending Thanksgivings with her.
15:02Beckett.
15:04Okay, great.
15:06They think they found Mike.
15:07Help!
15:09Anybody!
15:10Help!
15:14Mr. Weiss?
15:16Mike?
15:18Where's that bitch Sophie?
15:20I'll kill her.
15:21Timing very poor.
15:23What happened?
15:24That little freak drugged me.
15:29All right, Mike.
15:30Walk me through what happened with you and Sophie last night.
15:34She came on to me is what happened.
15:36Acted all flirty.
15:38Brought me a drink.
15:39A drink spiked with Rufy's.
15:40Yeah, nuts, right?
15:41I mean, who Rufy's a guy?
15:43All the girl has to do is ask.
15:45Hmm.
15:46Did the two of you have history?
15:48No.
15:49I mean, I saw her last year at Greg and Kira's engagement party.
15:53She was definitely the kind of girl you noticed.
15:55But, uh, no, I don't think we so much as even talked.
15:58Any idea why she'd want to drug you?
16:00No clue.
16:01Did she seem angry, nervous, or scared?
16:04No.
16:05She seemed determined.
16:08Guess I should have known it was too good to be true, huh?
16:10If you can think of anything else, let us know.
16:13Okay.
16:19What was Sophie up to last night?
16:21She went out of her way to get those drugs.
16:23She definitely had a plan.
16:25To Rufy, Mike, and lock him in a closet?
16:27What kind of a bizarre plan is that?
16:29Maybe.
16:33No, I got nothing.
16:33Oh, dude, catering, grab it.
16:35Oh, I'm so sorry.
16:41What are you guys doing?
16:42I haven't eaten all day.
16:43Oh.
16:44These potato pancakes are incredible.
16:46You know what else is incredible?
16:48Hmm.
16:48How much information we're going to find once we start investigating our victim's life.
16:53I want to know everything about Sophie Ronson from the moment that her plane landed in New York
16:58to the moment she was found dead, who she called, what she did, and where she ate.
17:04This is Detective Kate Beckett.
17:06I need a warrant on financials for a Sophie Ronson.
17:09Yeah.
17:09Hey, sir.
17:10Yeah.
17:11I need you to reach out to all the taxes.
17:12Is your favorite?
17:13In about an hour.
17:14So.
17:28Couldn't let it go to waste.
17:34How did you find me?
17:35I just figured, what was the one place where no one would think to look for you?
17:39At a wedding?
17:40At your wedding.
17:41Hmm.
17:43Where's...
17:44Greg?
17:45Right.
17:45He's taking care of things.
17:47He's good at that.
17:50So, if you don't get married, is it just a regular old cake?
17:54It's still a wedding cake.
17:57It's tiered, got flowers.
17:59It's in a ballroom.
18:03If things had gone as planned today, I would be twirling around on the dance floor with my
18:09husband right about now.
18:12You remember the last time we danced?
18:16Under the clock at Grand Central Station.
18:19You were on your way to JFK to catch a flight to London?
18:22You were supposed to follow me.
18:23You said you needed space.
18:27I didn't mean forever.
18:35So you've done all of this before.
18:39Twice.
18:40And each time, did you think that she was the one?
18:44It seemed like the right thing to do at the time.
18:48But it wasn't, was it?
18:49Some girls would think what happened today is a sign.
18:56They're murder.
18:59And you.
19:03Castle?
19:07We're on our way.
19:08I thought you might need a ride.
19:11I should go upstairs.
19:13They'll be looking for me.
19:13Cake?
19:30Cake?
19:30No, thank you.
19:32We met in college.
19:44We were together nearly three years.
19:47I didn't ask.
19:48Yes, you were not asking very loudly.
19:52She's different from your ex-wives.
19:56What do you mean?
19:57She's real.
20:00I didn't think you went for real.
20:05Tough breakup?
20:09It was a long time ago.
20:17Hey.
20:18Hey.
20:18You called?
20:19Yes.
20:20I found traces of metal in the abrasions on Sophie's back.
20:24What kind of metal?
20:25I have no idea, but I sent a sample over to the FBI lab to see if they can narrow down the chemical signature.
20:30We should have the results tomorrow.
20:31If I find the object that made the wounds, you'll be able to match it?
20:34Absolutely.
20:35Great.
20:36Anything else?
20:37You tell me.
20:39What?
20:40Don't what me.
20:42Castle's lost love.
20:43Yeah, what about it?
20:44Girl, I'm gonna smack you.
20:46You work side by side every day.
20:49He writes a sex scene in his book about you that had me reaching for ice water.
20:53Now little Miss Bride shows up.
20:55Don't tell me you're not the least bit jealous.
20:56Oh, please.
20:57You've been inhaling too many autopsy fluids.
21:00Honey, just because you can't see what's going on doesn't mean everyone else doesn't see what's going on.
21:05Shut up.
21:07Mm-hmm.
21:08I see it.
21:10You may not, but I do.
21:13There's a lot of detail in this love scene.
21:15Aren't you guys supposed to be running background checks?
21:17We are.
21:18On the bride.
21:19All day yesterday, I kept feeling like I'd heard the name Kira Blaine before, and then it hits me.
21:24The dedication of Castle's second book arose forever after.
21:28For Kira Blaine, you make the stars shine.
21:34When I'm not here, do you guys braid each other's hair and debate who's the coolest Jonas brother?
21:37No.
21:38But it's totally Nick.
21:39Absolutely Nick.
21:40Yeah.
21:40Kevin's a talent.
21:41Yeah, Nick's a cute one.
21:42Joke.
21:42The key card.
21:52Mike's key card.
21:53Hotel records indicate that Mike's key card last accessed his hotel room at 2 a.m. yesterday morning.
21:58Only he was busy, passed out, in his supply closet with a belly full of roofies.
22:01So who swiped into Mike's room?
22:06Mike said his key card was missing when he woke up.
22:08Sophie must have stolen it, but why?
22:16Didn't uniforms already search this room when he went missing?
22:18Yeah.
22:18Mike said he didn't notice anything out of place.
22:20So, what could be so important in this room that it'd be worth the trouble of drugging a man?
22:30Maybe it wasn't this room she was trying to get into.
22:33The only reason to unlock the door adjacent to yours is if...
22:37You knew who your neighbor was.
22:44Maybe Sophie only wanted to get into Mike's room so she could get into this one.
22:48So whose room is this?
22:57Castle.
22:58Castle.
22:58Sophie's missing earring.
23:11This could be where she was killed.
23:17Hey, what are you doing in my room?
23:18This is crazy.
23:29I did not kill Sophie Ronson.
23:31Then how did her earring end up in your room?
23:34You have a chance to come clean here, Greg.
23:37If I were you, I would take it.
23:40I got back to the room around 1.
23:43I was pretty drunk.
23:44Next thing I know, it was 2 in the morning and somebody was in bed with me and they had their hands down my pants.
23:50I thought it was Kira.
23:51I figured she changed her mind about spending the night apart.
23:55But it wasn't.
23:56It was Sophie.
23:57And you figured, what the hell, love the one you're with?
23:59No.
23:59Oh, come on, Greg.
24:01Sophie's a beautiful girl and you were hours away from strapping on the ball and chain for life.
24:05No.
24:06I love Kira.
24:07I would never cheat on her.
24:08Especially with Sophie.
24:10Why especially with Sophie?
24:14Had you slept with her before?
24:18Why is he here?
24:19He's a writer, not a cop.
24:21Answer the question, Greg.
24:22Did you ever sleep with Sophie?
24:25Once or twice.
24:27But it was before Kira and I even met and we both knew that it was a mistake.
24:30A mistake that Sophie tried to repeat.
24:32Or maybe she succeeded.
24:34No.
24:34When I saw her, I freaked.
24:36I shoved her away.
24:37She fell on the floor.
24:38That must have been when her earring came off.
24:40Before I could do anything else, she ran out the door.
24:44I mean, it all happened so fast, it didn't even seem like it was real.
24:48Why didn't you say anything when you found out that Sophie was murdered?
24:52Because I knew how it would sound.
24:54Pretty much like it sounds right now.
24:56Like a lie.
24:57Okay, that's it.
24:58I want him gone.
24:59He's clearly got it out for me because he wants to get back in my fiance's pants.
25:03I'm not the murder suspect here.
25:04I am done answering questions until he is gone.
25:07You don't make demands here, Greg.
25:08Castle, go and see if Ryan and Esposito have come back with the forensics from Greg's hotel room.
25:24Now walk me through what happened again.
25:32Hey, don't you worry about this, Greg.
25:33I'll get your back.
25:34Thanks, Uncle Teddy.
25:38Can't believe you're letting him just walk out of here.
25:43Yeah, well, I don't have enough evidence to convict him.
25:45Well, don't tell me you believe that story.
25:47It's like a porn movie gone wrong.
25:49Exactly.
25:49And if you were going to make up a story, would you make up something like that?
25:52So, the guy is a suit, not a storyteller.
25:54It doesn't make him any less guilty.
25:56Look, don't get me wrong.
25:57He's still our best suspect.
25:58I'm just not as ready to convict him of murder as you seem to be.
26:01Is that why you kicked me out of the interrogation?
26:03It was clear that I was going to get more out of Greg alone.
26:05You're just too close to this case to see that.
26:08You mean I'm too close to her?
26:10Yes.
26:11And do you know how I know that?
26:12If you weren't, you'd be all over the possibility that Kira could have killed Sophie.
26:17That's impossible.
26:18See, that's not what Richard Castle would say.
26:20He would paint a picture about the night before the wedding, about how Kira couldn't fall asleep,
26:27and so she went down to see Greg, only to find Sophie emerging from his room.
26:31And the thought that her fiancé could cheat on her the night before their wedding was too much.
26:36And so she follows Sophie to her room and confronts her.
26:40And when things get violent, Sophie ends up dead.
26:45You have to stay away from her castle until this case is closed.
26:50Richard Castle, what the hell are you doing?
27:18Nothing.
27:19She's getting married to another man.
27:22It's just a picture.
27:23No, it's a loaded gun.
27:27Castle.
27:28Is everybody's wedding like this?
27:30Kira.
27:31So, my bridesmaid's dead.
27:33My fiancé might be a murderer.
27:35And then there's you.
27:37You've just been through a bad shock, that's all.
27:40Will you come meet me somewhere?
27:42I don't think that'd be a good idea.
27:43Please.
27:44I just need to get out of the hotel for a little while.
27:48If I have to listen to my mother judge me anymore, I might start taking hostages.
27:51I understand completely.
27:56How about the roof?
27:57Our secret roof.
28:00That's perfect.
28:05Well, brother, I hope you know what you're doing, kiddo.
28:12Yeah.
28:14Me too.
28:15How did you know the door would still be unlocked after all these years?
28:30Some things never change.
28:31We spent so much time up here that summer.
28:37You would come over after I got out of class, bag of food in one hand, and that notebook in the other.
28:45And then I would write and you would pretend to study?
28:49I wasn't pretending.
28:50Oh?
28:51Well, okay.
28:53Well, I just had a hard time keeping my hands off of you.
29:00Does Greg know you're here?
29:02He told me about Sophie in his room.
29:05About him and Sophie before.
29:13He said he was sorry.
29:14He didn't tell me.
29:18Do you believe him?
29:24I just don't want to see you get hurt.
29:29Too late.
29:31I missed you, Rick.
29:45And I didn't realize how much until I saw you yesterday.
29:52I missed you, too.
29:54What did I tell you?
30:22What?
30:24Did I or did I not make myself clear?
30:29Yes.
30:30Do you know how much it annoys me knowing what you're doing?
30:33Touching things that shouldn't be touched?
30:35Yanking on things that shouldn't be yanked?
30:37Well, no, no, nobody yanked on anything.
30:39Billy, and how do you explain this?
30:45Huh?
30:45But don't give me that look.
30:46I've told you a million times not to mess with my chair.
30:51Right, no.
30:51I'm sorry.
30:54And it won't happen again.
31:08I saw her last night.
31:10I know.
31:18What?
31:18you had me under surveillance not you kira why would you have kira under surveillance
31:38she's a murder suspect oh no see sophie's murder was an isolated crime of passion
31:44watching kira after the fact would be a waste of police resources which we both know you
31:48would not do i had to make sure that you didn't do anything stupid which you did we just kissed
31:55that's all that happened that's all that happened for now hey the finance everything okay yeah no
32:03okay financiers came in on our groom no red flags he actually lives pretty modest for someone with
32:10a trust fund anything back from the lab nothing useful greg's hair and fiber samples came back
32:16negative other than the earring there's no physical evidence tying him to the murder so i retraced sophie's
32:20steps leading up to the wedding she checked into the beaumont on friday but she flew into the city
32:24on thursday morning what was she doing all day thursday i don't know i didn't even see her until
32:30the rehearsal dinner and we didn't even talk i'm afraid i can't help you i uh i barely knew the girl
32:36no the first time i saw sophie was at the wedding breakfast on friday morning
32:40i have no idea what sophie was doing but i'm sure it was nothing good did you know that she called me
32:47after the engagement party to ask me to pay for her flight and did you of course not i told her
32:53people have to make their own way so you have no idea what sophie did on thursday no but guess what
33:00she was doing on friday when i first saw her what's that shopping at the hotel store here she's
33:08telling everybody how broke she is and somehow oh suddenly she has money to burn between the shoes
33:15the dress the hotel and the flight sophie must have dropped three grand on this weekend easy i don't
33:20know how her bank balance is eighteen dollars and her credit cards are maxed out how much did the drug
33:26dealer say she paid for the rupees two hundred bucks cash the problem is sophie withdrew her last
33:31hundred dollars to fly to new york as far as i can tell she didn't have the 200 bucks to give
33:35so who paid for the drugs forget the drugs i've been a bridesmaid six times how did she pay for the
33:39dress okay thank you so not only did sophie pay for her flight in cash but she also made her last three
33:48rent payments in cash as well any idea where it all came from not yet so six times
33:56as a bridesmaid huh you wouldn't happen to have any pictures would you who feels like watching
34:01the little bridal shop surveillance video is it good what will i be shocked oh you definitely did
34:06not see this one coming okay there's sophie
34:10greg's uncle teddy he said he barely knew her oh he definitely knew her according to the bridal shop
34:21owner when teddy was paying for the dress sophie told him she wasn't sure if she could go through with
34:24it but teddy said after all he'd done for her she couldn't back out now now i've heard of brides
34:28getting cold feet but bridesmaids did he pay for the dress in cash yeah how'd you know all that cash
34:34means that uncle sugar daddy didn't want a paper trail tying him to whatever sophie was doing for
34:38him yeah but what could it be and why was it so important for sophie to go to greg's wedding
34:42this is ridiculous you don't have enough to build a case against me so you go after someone else in
34:52my family we're trying to get to the truth by hauling in my uncle for god's sakes he barely knew
34:57sophie and yet he paid for her 700 dress and her plane ticket out here he bought her dress if he barely
35:04knew her why would he do that we heard through the grapevine that sophie might have some trouble
35:08making the money to come out here to the wedding maybe teddy was trying to help her out for us
35:13that doesn't explain the 1500 that he paid her the last three months he was he was paying her
35:18for what some kind of deal they got going on we think it could have something to do with the way
35:23she was behaving the night before your wedding yeah sure he paid sophie to roofie a groomsman and
35:28then to climb into bed with me look we know how this sounds yeah it sounds like something out of
35:31one of rick's little books little books what would even be the point of that except to mess up the
35:36wedding why the hell would teddy want that that's what we're trying to find out oh my god for god's
35:40sakes next you're going to tell me that he's in love with kira too what is that supposed to mean you
35:44guys you know damn well what it's supposed to mean no greg i don't if you got something to say to me
35:49why don't you just say it i love kira rick she means the world to me maybe you can't see it maybe you
35:56don't care but teddy has been nothing but supportive of us the whole way he filed our wedding license he
36:03helped us write our prenup he always looks after
36:06what i gotta make a call
36:12do you know how long i've been sitting in here i'm sorry for the wait i hadn't had anything to
36:26you we couldn't decide on a restaurant what do you think this is funny do you recognize these files
36:31mr murphy you went to my office we got a warrant first don't worry look a layman like you couldn't
36:38possibly understand the financial and the legal complications of a state like greg's
36:43i think he just gone too stupid greg's grandparents established a trust fund that he was going to
36:50receive on his wedding day and named you executor how am i doing so far and for the past five years
36:56you've been stealing from that fund to fuel your expensive lifestyle a house in the hamptons
37:01a ferrari a pair of top of the line breast implants i'm assuming those are for you though
37:06my personal life is none of your business it is when it leads to a murder
37:10you lost a ton of money in the market everybody did but not everybody had access to greg's trust fund
37:16when you ran out of your own money you started using his burned through almost the entire two million
37:21and then when he called you to tell you he was getting engaged you panicked because you didn't
37:24have enough equity to put it back you realized the only way to avoid detection was to put a stop to
37:29the wedding but how greg was clearly in love with kira kira was in love with him and then you met
37:34sophie at the engagement party and you realized that she was the perfect instrument to sabotage greg's
37:39wedding because she was so desperate for money that's ridiculous the fact that she still carried a
37:44torch for greg made it that much easier to convince her to sneak into greg's room in the middle of the
37:48night with this sophie's video camera we found this in your luggage in the hotel it still has sophie's
37:58fingerprints all over it only she didn't quite get the footage you were hoping for did she
38:02when greg refused sophie's advances she had a change of heart she ran back to her room where you were
38:08there waiting for her what happened mr murphy did she threaten to expose you to tell everybody what you
38:13asked her to do you couldn't let that happen and then you realized there was another way to sabotage
38:18greg's wedding kill a bridesmaid wow what a story and very well told i might have but that's all it is
38:26a story really do you remember how i told you that we went through your luggage we found this tie tack
38:36platinum right did you know that we found trace evidence of platinum in the wounds in sophie's back
38:44you probably didn't even realize you were making them when you were choking her from behind which
38:49is why it never occurred to you to get rid of the one piece of physical evidence that tied you to
38:53the crime we're sorry we kept you waiting
38:55sophie what are you doing come on greg you and me one last time we were good together no stop it come
39:05on it'll be fun no what's the matter with you i'm getting married tomorrow okay to the woman that i love
39:11teddy's plan would have worked too if it weren't for the one thing he didn't count on
39:18greg he's a good man kira he's an honorable man
39:27and he loves you
39:30i know
39:34and i love him too
39:37but that does not mean that i'm not going to think about you from time to time
39:44well you better
39:45of all the murders in all the cities at all the weddings
39:54then you walk into mine
39:57i'm glad i did
39:59thank you rick
40:08he's all yours
