00:01Cardinals from around the world begin the secretive centuries-old ritual of the conclave to elect a successor to Pope Francis.
00:10Conservative leader Friedrich Merz has been elected the new German Chancellor in the second round of voting in the Bundestag.
00:20Presidential candidate George Simeon says he is a Euro-realist in an exclusive interview with Euronews Romania.
00:31Russia launched a missile and a barrage of drones into Ukraine overnight into Wednesday, killing at least two people, according to Ukrainian officials.
00:41Kyiv's city military administration said eight people were wounded, including four children.
00:48Local officials said the victims were found in a residential building where drone debris sparked fires in several apartments.
00:56At least one ballistic missile and 28 Russian drones were recorded in Kyiv's airspace, the administration said.
01:04The attack came less than a day ahead of a unilateral 72-hour ceasefire that Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced to coincide with celebrations in Moscow marking Victory Day in World War II.
01:16There was no immediate comment from Moscow on the attack, but Russian officials reported shooting down Ukrainian drones over several Russian regions as well.
01:26Today, cardinals from around the world begin the secretive centuries-old ritual of the conclave to elect a successor to Pope Francis.
01:40133 cardinals from 70 countries are isolating themselves inside the Sistine Chapel.
01:48Their cell phones surrendered and connection jammed around the Vatican to prevent all communications until a new Pope is elected.
01:55The cardinals begin with a final mass in St. Peter's Basilica, after which they walk solemnly into the Sistine Chapel.
02:05Once there, they pledge to maintain secrecy and to not allow outside interference to influence their voting.
02:12Assuming no winner is found, the Vatican said black smoke could be expected out of the Sistine Chapel chimney at around 7pm.
02:20While cardinals said they expected a short conclave, it will likely take at least a few rounds of voting.
02:30Germany has a new chancellor, Friedrich Merz.
02:33The Christian Democratic Union chairman initially failed in the first round of secret ballots.
02:38He then won a majority in the second round held later in the day, gaining 325 votes, nine more than the required 316.
02:45I ask you, Mr. Mr. Merz, take the vote.
02:50Mr. President, I thank you for your trust and I take the vote.
02:55Applause erupted in the capital of Berlin following Merz's appointment as chancellor,
03:00but the general public were left with a feeling of suspicion.
03:02Links is vorbei.
03:05Wieder Politik für die Mehrheit der Bevölkerung machen.
03:08Wird ein faktisches Einreiseverbot in die Bundesrepublik Deutschland,
03:13gilt ausdrücklich auch für Personen mit Schutzanspruch.
03:17Rauskommen aus dieser strukturellen Schwäche unserer Volkswirtschaft,
03:21dass wir rauskommen aus dieser völlig verfehlten Energiepolitik.
03:25A policy change by the CDU-CSU Union while being in coalition with the SPD,
03:30that seems almost impossible to political observers.
05:06Merz, in a victorious gesture, throws his hands up in the air.
05:14Georg Simeon, winner of Romania's presidential first round of votes,
05:20defended his political stance during an exclusive interview with Euronews Romania.
05:25He addressed frequent accusations of being anti-Ukrainian, pro-Russian and Euroskeptik.
05:32Simeon says he advocates for a Europe of sovereign nations and opposes further EU federalization.
05:41I am a Euro-realist.
05:42We want a Europe of nations.
05:45And I am the person who fought the most before entering the politics with Russian propaganda.
05:53Our problems with Ukraine is not about hatred, about opposing something.
06:01It's about Ukrainians that must respect international treaties and the right of national minorities.
06:08We have half a million of Romanian speakers in Ukraine and they don't have the right to school
06:17and to church.
06:19Simeon's insisted he's firmly pro-NATO and supports increased defense spending.
06:26For us, being a member of NATO is vital.
06:31We sacrificed a lot for being admitted to NATO.
06:36We invested a lot.
06:38When speaking of the U.S., Simeon expressed strong alignment with the U.S. Republican Party
06:44and the MAGA movement.
06:46The second round of presidential elections are scheduled for May the 8th.
06:54The U.S. president posted on his social media page on 5th of May
06:58that he would impose a 100% tariff on films made outside the U.S.
07:02The American film industry is dying at a rapid pace.
07:06Other countries are offering all kinds of incentives to lure filmmakers and studios away from the U.S.
07:12That's why I'm authorizing the Department of Commerce to immediately begin the process of imposing
07:16a 100% tariff on all foreign produced films coming into our country, Donald Trump said in his post.
07:26The details are not known at all, but if it does happen, a lot of countries will be very badly off,
07:32including Hungary, where last year film spending was close to a billion dollars.
07:39We reached the point that we are talking about a global production production.
07:44There is no such a big film that is not a global production production.
07:47Let's think about a Mission Impossible movie,
07:49or a James Bond movie, which is played in at least in four countries.
07:55But whether it is known as a cultural culture,
07:59or the Blade Runner, these are all in place,
08:01because the cultural culture is the way it comes from.
08:05We also think that the way it's been changed,
08:07the process is a way to the end, and the process is an important part of it.
08:10And if this film is more than a false film,
08:13it is a legal choice,
08:15that will surely be made to make a decision.
08:17In the current state it's more of a high quality of the world.
08:20And we agree that we have such a dream.
08:22We agree that we should have more films will be reached in Hungary.
08:28Just how fluid the issue is can be seen by the fact that President Trump later promised to consult with representatives of the US film industry.
08:35And the White House said that no final decision on tariffs on films made abroad has been made yet.
08:41Responding to the question from journalists
08:43Trump stressed that film production and the offshoring of films has decimated the US film
08:48industry and that he wants to help not hurt the industry which receives financial and other
08:53support abroad.
09:13People are mad at the game for a variety of reasons.
09:23The backlash started because people didn't expect one of the protagonists was going to
09:33be a black African samurai.
09:43Everybody probably just assumed this is just a DEI thing so people wanted to look for who
09:58to yell at.
10:00Online communities, they started talking a lot about me, my book, my family.
10:08Once I realized that nobody was defending me, I just decided to do what I knew would work.
10:23Saatchi contacted me on Reddit.
10:25I wasn't sure if it was her, but I went through to the Zoom call anyway.
10:30Obviously no one knew at that time what Saatchi actually consulted on.
10:33This is the reason why the Zoom call was so important to me.
10:36because I was able to understand her and what she actually did to the game.
10:39I felt so bad.
10:40I apologized, I think, more than 10 times maybe.
10:43I learned a massive lesson because I just let the post roll.
10:46I didn't even think about the consequences of doing this.
10:49I just thought I shouldn't have made this person a target for no reason whatsoever.
10:54Nobody is affected by this very polarizing culture, so I just hope that people will try to treat
11:12each other as fellow humans and it will work, I promise.
11:19I just thought that was one of the best.
11:24My mother was a real place that I allow and it will work.
11:26have made this person a target for no reason.
11:27Go A&M.
11:27No, you can even think about this one.
11:29I hope that when I first started to conquer anyone.
